  1. I am assuming this is a restaurant? Usually the best thing is to ask them. Remember, that fries might be naturally gluten-free, but if they are fried in the same fryer as gluten coated things (like onion rings), they are no longer gluten-free.
  2. The original info was from 2009. If you get the gluten-free menu, it doesn't say that chips are gluten free. You need to look at the gluten-free menu and ask questions before assuming a food is safe.
  3. Bottom Line: Based on testing done to date by Gluten Free Watchdog, products testing “low gluten” using Nima tested from below the limit of detection of 1 ppm gluten up to 18,963 ppm gluten using the R5 ELISA. Barley flour also tested low gluten. Based on these results it is difficult to assess the meaning or understand the usefulness of a “low gluten” Nima...

  5. Just for your information - Celiac disease is not a "gluten allergy".
  6. I do buy Plantar's nuts too.so if you are looking for peanuts, cashews, etc
  7. What I have heard was that the paperware is made with straw, not the seed/ protein portion. And something about the process makes it unlikely to get any gluten, even if eating the paper plate. But they seem to be expensive, so I doubt gets used much.
  8. Not an issue?
  9. I agree with Gemini! On all points. I do try to have gluten-free shampoo because I seem to get I in my mouth. It's not too hard - I just look for " wheat". Lots of shampoos do not contain gluten. And I don't worry about paper cups.
  10. I buy from local farmers. They aren't doing anything that would cc the nuts, even ones they run through the shelling machine.
  11. That is some odd allergy testing. I don't get the separating the dairy? Are you supposed to be allergic to the protein in dairy? Then it would be for all dairy. like Peter said, "malt" isn't a thing to be allergic to. Usually, foods with " malt" say " barley malt". Like a malted milk ball has barley malt. But your "allergy test" should...
  12. Have you taken lactose out of her diet? Trouble digesting lactose might be a temporary side effect of Celiac Disease. It is also possible to be lactose intolerant and Celiac. You might try eliminating it and see if that helps.
  13. In my opinion, this author goes a bit over board with her "gluten is everywhere" agenda.
  14. You don't need gluten-free makeup unless you are going to get it in your mouth.
  15. I do not think anyone was discussing " formed chicken" here. Obviously, that is a different food than plain fresh chicken.
  16. If you are commenting on one of the original posts - that info is 9 years old. You might want to get up to date info on the product.
  17. I see your point. If it is safe for our purposes, I would leave it. I would think, on the rare occasion it is made from wheat, it will list " glucose syrup ( wheat)". Something like that. We might need to note that? Honestly, if I saw that, word " wheat" , I would avoid the product. I wouldn't even think about the fact that it is safe. But it might...
  18. They have groceries in Europe. I have never been there, but I have heard that people do purchase groceries. Lol you might not be able to buy gluten-free cookies in some places, but you should be able to get fruit, veggies, cheese, etc. looks like you can cook at some points so, you could get meat or potatoes or rice. Keep it simple so it's not a huge...
  19. What new evidence/ research article do you have to make you think it isn't? Just wondering what you saw to make you question it? From Australia- http://www.coeliac.org.au/uploads/65701/ufiles/Fact_sheets/Glucose_syrup_fact_sheet.pdf The majority of wheat derived glucose (at least 90%) contains no detectable gluten...

  21. Just heard from someone who got one. Hers was heated in the original bag. I guess not all Starbucks have well trained employees. Sigh. We must always be vigilant
  22. The thing I saw said they are supposed to be able to heat them in the little package they come in. Then just hand you the packaged sandwich.
  23. Some of the leading Celiac researchers are in India. You might do a little google searching.
  24. I think, if you could read real Medical info about Celiac, it would say it's a reaction in the small intestine. When I went to the International Celiac symposium, the lectures about the drugs to break down gluten weren't to break it down on your plate! Lol they were talking about keeping it from your small intestine. You may be having allergic reactions...
  25. I agree that's this isn't a way To cheat and eat Gluten if you have Celiac. These are supplements - not medication, so who knows what they do or don't do. There are currently medicines in actual FDA medical trials that look like they may degrade gluten in the stomach, before it reaches the small Intestine. The gluten antibody reaction does not...
