Gluten free diet

Hi,  so I had a positive blood test for celiac but still haven't done the biopsy. I've been trying to eat gluten free and as far as I know I have been for about 2 weeks now. I want to know how long before I start to feel better.  I still feel awful everyday. Can anybody give me a time range?

I think it took about 6 months of my daughter eating gluten free before she felt better. She still has days that she does not feel well but there has been a vast improvement with her health and her grades.  I hope you feel better soon.

Just remember that if you want to get a biopsy,  you need to continue to eat a regular gluten containing diet until it is done.

Yeah I know.  But I can't tolerate it anymore. I have been sick every day for the past five months.

Hi Archer!

Here is a link to celiac.com's newbie information which is helpful.  There are diet tips there too.   Avoiding cross contamination is critical.  Took me six weeks to feel a bit better.  Six months for anemia to resolve and a year to really feel good. Finally, it took two years to be back to to feeling really great.  But take that with a grain of salt.  Menopause.....that is another topic!  ?

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
