DQ2/DQ8 testing

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

My doctor wants me to take a  DQ2/DQ8 test but my medical facility (VA) does not offer/allow this test. Can I go out on my own and have the lab work done if I pay out of pocket? Any suggestions as to how I can do this? Cost?

Thanks in advance,

ExArty

YOu can get it done on your own.  Quest diagnostics does it.  Probably some other places.  Quest is in most cities - call and find out the price.  I think its about $300

Just know that some 30% of the population carries the genes for celiac to develop.  It is not used to diagnose celiac disease, but to rule it out.  This is how to diagnose celiac disease:

Many doctors just order the TTG IgA test for screening.  It is very good but does not catch all celiacs.  Ask for a complete panel.
