A couple of weeks ago my GP sent me for a coeliac screen because of repeatedly dropping ferritin and I managed to get a print out of my results today. I don’t really understand what they are telling me, if anything.  Help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

TTG (IgA) <0.1 (0 - 7)

Serum IgA Low 0.21 (0.8 - 4 g/L)

So, it really can't  tell if you have Celiac from those 2 tests.

the "serum IGA " tests to see if you are able to make " IGAs" . Being low says that you don't.  That isn't due to Celiac and may mean nothing to your health.  What it means is that this IGA type of Celiac test is to valid.  There is a version called IGG - that would be valid.

Looks like you are special!  ?

karen is right.  You can not rule out celiac disease yet.  Ask for the rest of the celiac panel.  You may be too IgA deficient for the other celiac IgA tests to be accurate.  You need the IgG test versions.

Thank you both for the information! I’ll make an appointment to see my GP and try and get her to do the other tests. Might be a bit of a battle, I don’t have all that much faith in them at the moment... it took a month to convince them to check my ferritin and by the time they did it was down to 9.5 so I wasn’t impressed.  Her decision to even add the couple of tests she did was only an after thought because I asked what could be causing it ?

I may have to save up for a private test if she’s difficult.
