Iso Something For Teachers To Read About Celiac

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for something to give our child's teachers to (quickly) educate them on gluten intolerance. Anyone? A whole book would be too much to ask them to read. One or two pages would be great.

It might help them to know why it's so important for my child to avoid gluten (not just a "little diarrhea") and where they migh not have thought gluten exists (playdough, etc.)

Thanks!

Yes, there is a printable brochure that tells teachers about Celiac in addition what school supplies are safe.

I'll try to find it (somewhere in the bowls of this site  )

This will help, but there are still others.

On the first page they have a link for a brochure that briefly explains celiac disease. It's what we gave our preschool.

FYI, you might also notice on that page the information on the annual education and food conference here in L.A. that will be held in May. It's expensive, but the information is EXTENSIVE, and the amount of free gluten free stuff you get almost equals the cost of the conference! The Celiac Disease Foundation also had an ad in the Gelson's Supermarket flyer we just received yesterday. Gelson's carries a few gluten free items that most grocery stores around here don't (luckily there's several Trader Joe's and a couple of Whole Foods markets nearby so that it hasn't been a problem). But it's still just a "grocery store" and not a specialty market, so it's great to see an ad like this promoting awareness of the disease that so many people around here will see.
