Gluten Free Shopping

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Yesterday, my gastro doc and I decided that I most likely have gluten intolerance. My biopsy came back negative for Celiac and we are still waiting on blood work results. He and I decided that I should go ahead and start the gluten-free diet.

For the next few days, I am going to eat fresh fruits, veggies and meats, until I can get to the speciality supermarket!

The problem I'm having is finding a whole or health food store in my area. I was just wondering if anyone out there is anywhere near me or familiar with my area of Virginia. I live in Culpeper, Va. It is closer for me to go towards Charlottesville or Fredericksburg as oppossed to Northern Virginia.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

As long as you don't feel you have to replace all your former gluten foods with gluten-free substitutes, you can probably get by with shopping at the regular grocery store. If you stick with the fresh veggies and meats plus safe brands, you can eat really well.

Gluten-Free since September 15, 2005.

Peanut-Free since July 2006.
