Not sure how wide spread they are but there are lots of Giant grocery stores in the mid-Atlantic area, especially around DC. I have not been impressed with their in-store gluten-free selection. They might have it but don't seem to make it easy to find.

Yesterday in the mail I received their weekely ad. On the third page there was a box in the bottom labeled "gluten free". It only had four items (Glutino pretzels, organic quinoa, Pamela's cookies and Gluten Free Cafe frozen entrees).

Has anyone heard of or tried "Gluten Free Cafe" brand frozen entrees?

We are starting a renovation that will have us living with just a refridgerator and microwave for about a month. A good gluten free frozen entree would help a lot.

Things are changing quickly, but as always use caution.

Our local Farm Fresh recently advertised "Farm Fresh Gluten Free Fried Chicken". WELL, (I said to myself), I have to check this out. As expected, I ended up chewing out the manager for their stupidity.

Never heard of Gluten Free Cafe, but sure could use a good frozen enter in the next few weeks.

The Giant closest to me didn't have any of those products in the ad. They suggested that I try one of the larger stores. I went to a larger Giant (that just sounds strange) and they had a gluten-free section (about half the size of one in Wegmans but that is still significant compared to most stores). In their freezer section they had the Gluten Free Cafe entrees. They came in four varieties. I picked up the two with the lowest carb value (I'm also diabetic and trying to get that under control). I'll post again in a few days when I've tried them. This store also had a variety of frozen gluten free breads.

Bottom line, one data point for the larger stores in the chain having a decent gluten free section.

Our Giant has a relatively large gluten free section... Both a freezer section and a dry goods section. That's the only place I shop anymore.

The PA Giants are a different company than the VA Giants. The PA Giants have been on the ball for awhile now.

Tim, I'll PM you the location of a good one.

I did try one of Giant's frozen meals, and was surprised to find that it tasted pretty good. I also have tried something else that I had found there. It is manufactured by "Allergy Free Foods Company" and is called Boneless Country Fried Chicken Breast. The batter is made with white rice, brown rice and modified tapioca starch.

probably not your situation @Mimiof2, but allow me to add one more to @trents list of celiac-mimics: "olmesartan-induced sprue-like enteropathy"

My dad had an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.  Fortunately, it was discovered during an exam.  The doctor could feel my dad's heart beating in his stomach/abdomen.  The aneurysm burst when the doctor first touched it in surgery.  Since he was already hooked up to the bypass machine, my dad survived ten more years.  Close call! Triple A's can press on the nerves in the spinal cord causing leg pain.  I'm wondering if bowing the head might have increased the pressure on an aneurysm and then the nerves.   https://gulfcoastsurgeons.com/understanding-abdominal-aortic-aneurysm-symptoms-and-causes/ Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Presenting as a Claudication https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4040638/

You have an odd story there. To me, the mechanical trigger suggests a mechanical problem and lower leg pain is a classic sciatica symptom. The fact that the clear mechanical linkage is no longer there does not take away from the fact that it was - maybe something shifted and the simple alignment is no longer there. There's also a good chance I am wrong and it's something else entirely. @Scott Adams's mention of shingles is interesting. It seems possible but unlikely to me, but who knows. However, I am writing here to reinforce the idea of getting the shingles vaccine. Ask anyone who has ever had shingles and they will bend your ear telling you how bad it is. I watched my wife go through it and it scared the bejeebers out of me. Even if you had the chicken pox vaccine, you really want to get the shingles vaccine.

Oddly this effect has gone now, just happened yesterday evening, the nerve pain is now back to its usual "unpredictable" random self again - but that was the only time I ever had some mechanical trigger for it, don't know why! There's no (or wasn't) actual pain in my neck - it was inside the leg, but when I looked down, now though, the leg pain just comes and goes randomly as before again.

I had MRI scan a few years ago showing everything normal, and now it's no longer triggering the nerve pain when I bow my head today - it only seemed to happen yesterday, and that was the only time it happened! Just seemed weird as no movement has caused my usual nerve pain before. It's normally just random.
