  8. Wheat, rye, barley, barley malt, and oats (unless a specialty gluten free oat) are off limits.   9. It has oat flour - it is not gluten free. Not safe for a Celiac to eat.
  10. I agree about seeking medical interpretation. If your doctor doesn't know what it means and its implications, then find a doctor in your area that is familiar with Celiac. (A local Celiac support group can often help).

  12. Modified food starch can be from any starch. Modified food starch itself does not equal wheat. Flour does not equal wheat. wheat, potato, corn, tapioca, rice, (etc) are some examples.   13. Modified Food Starch is safe for those with Celiac. The only instance it would not be is if it said "Modified Food Starch - Wheat".
  14. All plain meats/chicken/etc are gluten free. By law, any grain must be listed on meat products. Its gluten free.

  17. By law, wheat is required to be listed. That would only leave rye, barley, or oats. I would guess its a low chance of having gluten in it, but I don't personally know if its gluten-free. Old El Paso is a General Mills company, which will list any gluten. Their refried beans (that I have seen) are gluten-free, and if they weren't, would clearly list...

  19. The only one that I have experience with is from gfsoap.com; it is gluten, casein, soy, corn, etc free.
  20. Plus, the only mfs source that is required to be listed is wheat...so if it does NOT list wheat, then it is safe (per food labeling law).

  23. Erica-I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. This can be so frustrating! People's reactions vary in length and severity, and can even vary in the same person (depending on the amount of gluten, the time gluten free, and other unknown variables that Mother Nature likes to throw at us!). I know that my reactions now are very severe for a solid 24 hours...
