Mercury?

Is it possible mercury could be the cause of all of my health problems? i have 5 dental amalgams and did a hair mercury test years ago and it was a bit elevated. also have had old fillings drilled in the past & the dentists took no precautions whatsoever. is this something i should investigate? is there a simple blood test for this? should i go get all my fillings removed?

thanks

No, no and no.

Jason, what kind of sports do you enjoy. Do you golf, run, play ball or are you a member of a fitness club?

Getting physical is a great healer and empowering. :)

You really don't think so?

i used to play hockey but had to retire at the age of 28 cause i messed up my back, hate running like raq ball but dont play much. i luv skiing and am going this weekend. i also love to weight train but had to stop cause i found that it was exacerbating my upper GI problems, which is REALLY pissing me off cause i am 15 lbs underweight and cant put the pounds on by eating alone.

Heck Yeah! Do you live in a neighborhood where you can run, or go to a jogging path or a gym. Fresh air and outside is great. It motivates you to do other good and healthy things, like the domino effect. (I know, cold wave at the moment)

It's time to think about a New Year's Resolution. Get healthy by good food and good exercise. FIND YOUR PASSION! :D

mercury is definitely detrimental to your health... but im not so sure how much would leak out of a filling... first of all, i THINK most fillings are not mercury anymore, but either silver or composite, but im not sure... i DO have a few silver/grey fillings- at the time my dentist reassured me that they were not mercury- but from what ive read recently (in natural websites i follow, NOT the mainstream media) is that there IS mercury in those, and that i should have gotten composite.

anyways- i cant worry about that right now, there's nothing i can do about it at the moment. besides- there is probably MORE mercury in other things in our life... our air, water, food, shots, etc... the body does purge mercury too- mainly thru the bowel... the healthier you are, the better your body probably purges it. Cylantro is also a natural mercury chelator. ive also stopped eating Tuna- because of the Mercury and because of the overfishing... ive switched to salmon & sardines-

recent stuff ive read from the people i admire is that Aluminum is actually MUCH MUCH worse than mercury-

so, i guess all we can do really is try to do our best to eat right and be healthy, juice, use a natural deoderant... and just try not to stress - we can only do so much

Having high-levels of heavy metals that are foreign to our bodies will damage your health. Testing and treating me for mercury was a priority for my alternative health docs. All silver fillings contain mercury. If not removed properly, you will get mercury in your system. (Other sources are fish, etc). The test I did most recently was a urine test, I've also had my hair tested. My readings were low, but as a precaution (because I do eat seafood a few times a month) I take chlorella and selenium, both bind and help to remove heavy metals.

This is something worth pursuing if you feel like you can tie your health concerns back to them. I would suggest seeing a qualified alternative health doctor.

Interestingly, my dad had a chronic rash on his chest and migranes for about a decade. When he got his fillings replaced with composite, both resolved.

On a side note, have you ever seen the delivery boxes the silver filling materials come in when they are delivered to the dentist office? They read: BIOHAZARD on the side. Hmmm...no business being in anyone's mouth, if you ask me.

I agree. Getting those silver filling replaced would be my first recommendation. My husband recently had some test results that indicated he might have heavy metal poisoning. So his doc wanted to do a more complicated (more expensive) test for heavy metals. I asked my husband whether he had silver fillings. Then I suggested he get those replaced before spending $$ on a test which would tell him to replace the fillings. So far he has done neither ... SIGH

Definitely worth speaking to your gastroenterologist about this. My own told me that by using Gaviscon a barrier forms over the contents of the stomach and stops gas and acid irritating the throat.  In fact, he said to me that because I found relief using Gaviscon that was a very clear indicator that reflux was the cause of that particular issue.   A wedge pillow will really help with this - or raising the top bed legs with bricks.

I did get the pneumonia vaccine about 4 years ago. I had this amazing allergist who did all those vitamin deficiencies test and told to get that vaccine. Unfortunately she retired.  I haven’t been to an allergist in a few years,  I’m not sure what my levels are now. I did have a pulmonologist who wasn’t concern and said I seemed fine to him that I was young etc. But yes I think I should at the very least get a different opinion. Thank you for your reply

Yes I do have acid reflux. I’m not on anything for it at the moment. I sometimes wonder if that’s what it could be because I get heart burn every night. I may revisit my gastrointestinal doctor again. Thanks for the reply

Hi @HelloFlowersGoodbyeFlour I wonder if you suffer from reflux, as if you do, you may find it could also be irritating your airways.  I shall explain: I have to use a blue inhaler from time to time, and it seems to be related to reflux.  Never had any trouble before my coeliac diagnosis, the reflux seemed to be something that developed following a holiday to France in 2019, where I had been exposed to gluten.    The reflux continued into the autumn and winter, my throat itched to begin with, particularly after meals, but it then that feeling of irritation seemed to spread to my lungs.  I even found it difficult to breathe on occasion. What stopped it in its tracks was using a wedge pillow at night, following a reflux diet (you can find them online), not eating 2-4 hours before bed and also having a dose of Gaviscon Advanced at night, which forms a barrier so that acid/food can't go back up your esophagus.  The throat irritation faded, and then I found it easier to breathe again. Just mentioning in case it could be a contributing factor.

Since initially getting your D checked a few years ago, has it since rebounded to normal levels? Sounds like at some point you got it checked again.
