Austin, Tx Doctor Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a doctor in Austin, TX or surrounding areas (could go to San Antonio or Houston) that is knowledgeable about treating the secondary conditions related to Celiac disease (skin rashes, Sjogren's, nutrient deficiencies, etc.)? After eliminating glutens and other allergens from my diet, I just need help diagnosing and managing other conditions and symptoms. Unfortunately, I have had a few bad experiences with so-called specialists who are completely uninformed and make me feel crazy when I suggest my symptoms may be related to Celiac disease or start asking if whatever medication they are prescribing contains gluten or other allergens.

Thanks for the help.

While I don't know about your specific issue, my family has been going to Dr. Lubin for years for my mom's crohn's and when I first started having gastro issues. But you could call Austin Gastroenterology (http://www.austingastro.com/) and ask about specialists in Celiac's. They have locations all over Austin. Sorry I don't know more specifics, but I hope this can help point you in the right direction of finding someone.

Hi! Have you found anyone?? I live in Austin (also willing to go to someone in Houston) and am desperate to figure out what is causing my other symptoms! I was diagnosed with Celiac in August and have been gluten-free since. My anemia healed, but I am still struggling with other symptoms (nasal congestion, dry eyes, etc.) and have gone to multiple specialists to try to figure it out. I finally found a nutritionist in Austin who specializes in Celiac, but she does not take insurance :( and I cannot afford anymore medical bills right now.

Have you figured out anything about any nutritional deficiences or other autoimmune diseases??

Thank you!!!
