  1. You are three hours closer to bedtime? So, you got that going for you....which is nice. She says as she ducks for cover Here is hoping tomorrow brings better days all around -- about to add wine to the situation here....may need hubs to help the tipsy cripple down the stairs later

  4. Welcome Hope! You have responded to a member that has not been active in several years...but it is great to update product threads
  5. the boys don't use them for every meal now...but we all did for the first year or two gluten-free now they use them whenever out and about...which is many meals for young adults
  6. Our family uses Source Naturals - Digestive Enzymes Have used their "gluten" formula in the past...but I prefer the cost of their plain digestive enzymes -- my kids blow through quite a few There are many good ones...sure others will be along to add more.
  7. Welcome Cathy! You've come to the right place for support -- many of us have gone through just the transition you are experiencing and can tell you -- it gets much, much better with time. First, your health will begin to improve and second, living gluten-free becomes second nature -- it simply takes time -- and a fair amount of frustration Sounds...
  8. Good News...ankle is less swollen and pics show no breaks Bad News...resumed my plan to make light flaky biscuits and found I had no yogurt - doh!!! Heading to the store after this round of ice and will be making a uncured bacon, free range egg and fresh cheese biscuit tomorrow morning!!!! Dinner is pork chops and stuff
  9. With the allergy factored in...and allergic symptoms, it certainly sounds like you may have been exposed to gluten. Are you allergic to any other items?
  10. Heck ya they work....our poor damaged systems need all the help they can get
  11. If it is a histamine issue, I doubt it is the pan. There are many things that can release histamine within the body -- heat, cold, weather changes, chemical or other scents, etc, etc, etc. The list is long. Think of it this way....you have a small cup...once that cup gets filled with too much histamine released for whatever reason you will feel very...
  12. This is a question I have asked many times. The truth is no one can answer it for you personally. It takes as long as it takes. If it is taking more than six months to a year to see marked improvement, it is time to investigate other causes in addition to gluten. Personally, I have had two periods of greatly improved health over the past five years...
  13. As a moderator, my advice may be weighted more heavily than another member and should not. We are simply volunteers, not medical professionals. I am temporarily suspending this discussion while the other moderators consider my suggestion to call this thread done....this is something a mod can do that other members cannot.
  14. Good Morning Barty! I'm in a lot less pain and the head has cleared...I really don't want to talk genes today. Instead...I'd like to address this notion that we have to give perfect advice to those people visiting us for the first time or even the thousandth time. This is a online community of folks that have in one way or another had their life...
  15. That mod - me - was incorrect based on the information that Irish has posted repeatedly today. I still believed that 3 and 9 were thought to be associated with NCGS based on an older study that my genetic data was used in...I need to go back and read that study and brush up on the gene issue. Between what I had read and folks I have known on this...
  16. I'm being good - ish. Got Mom's PT done and am home now -- it's elevated, compressed with ice on it -- i usually do one half hour on/one off -- drives the men nuts when I make them ice more than they want!!!! Good to know what I'm in for -- and I never use heat so I will once the swelling goes down. I can PT myself while PT'ing with Mom -- so that is...
  17. Nah...I only ordered two pounds...haven't wasted money trying a new flour in years...still I'm betting it's good
  18. Don't I know it...silly thing needs a picture now that I've been up on it for a few hours -- funny how when you go to the drug store with crutches everyone has sympathy for you...but when your near dead from an autoimmune disease and you get "Well, at least you look really healthy!" I was irritated by all the attention -- um it's a stoopid ankle folks...
  19. There are also MANY unknown other issues within the Functional Digestive Disorders realm -- I have every marker for celiac disease -- that did not stop me from developing or being born with another unknown functional GI disorder.
  20. Nope. I wrote letters to all of my former doctors...um there were many over the years. I didn't doctor shop...just turnover of primary docs within UCSD over a thirty year period. Anyway, my current primary didn't "find" celiac for over three years and many, many tests -- since I tested positive her knowledge of celiac symptoms grew from short skinny...
  21. The other "Lucy" tripped over her own feet yesterday and has a nice swollen ankle -- doh...pretty sure nothing is broke so waiting for a picture. Just a big case of yep...you are a dumb ass you finally get vertical and trip over your own feet again...lol off to do rehab with mom...her health insurance has deemed her well enough to go home -- lol ...
  22. yep ... learned my lesson once with a bag of flour but really thought i was gonna be stripped with the cup of almond butter... here is the key with the TSA..smile and joke about our situation....rather that than the alternative.......
  23. PS...forgot to answer your original question. The best resource for all questions with regard to Celiac is the University of Chicago's Celiac Center -- they are pretty good at providing info for those with Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity as well. The center's FAQs are a fantastic resource: Open Original Shared Link If you are looking to tighten...
