  1. Interesting...one of my celiac sons had oral thrush from about 9 months old for several years and then had mouth sores for the years that followed until he removed gluten at age 15. I had forgotten about the thrush, but its arrival did coincide with his eating more whole foods and cereal and less breast feeding -- interesting, not scientific but interesting...
  2. Welcome! Did that doctor by chance -- run a full celiac antibody panel BEFORE telling you to remove gluten from your diet? I hope so. You need to be actively consuming gluten for celiac antibody tests to be accurate. Hang in there....and keep looking for answers
  3. Day Two of Santa Ana winds has kicked my ass -- everyone else is walking around saying how wonderful and beautiful the weather is -- which it is -- except for this freak that has abdominal bloating up like a puffer fish just because the wind is blowing from the East!!! Guess today is the day I'll start floating the late afternoons away under a personal...
  4. Thanks Addie! Just added it to my monthly amazon . com order -- 8.03 with subscribe and save discount....will check other sources if we like. Haven't been to PriceClub for a long time -- had to stop with the last round of belt tightening. Maybe I'll have someone check if ours carries it -- and make them pick it up for me
  5. All you need to do is one dollar less...just saying Karen's certificate would be worth more....for less
  6. I second Karen...details please Addie! Our house has a revolving door...dinner is somewhere between 630 and 730..whether it's me cooking (630) or hubs when I'm down or out (730)...whomever is home gets it fresh...all else have a plate waiting for them to re-heat.
  7. Sometimes alcohol is simply hard on a damaged digestive system. Give it some time gluten-free and try again
  8. "Normal" is overrated. My celiac kids eat out all the time...but it was a tough learning curve for them. Teens don't like to stand out and males don't generally like to call attention to their physical limitations. They figured out what they needed to be safe after several gluten hits. Unfortunately, knowing how to select restaurants and talk to restaurant...
  9. I completely understand. Until very recently even my limited "safe" foods were causing intestinal inflammation. Anyyone that knows me knows that I will not take meds unless absolutely necessary...not so much an ethical decision....simply most medication has caused the incorrect outcome in my body....my entire life. It has been a very long road for my family...
  10. Not for a very long time, but sure I remember the early glutenings vividly from attempting to order safely and still getting hit. If you are unsure of a restaurant, i strongly suggest bringing your own food and just ordering a nice cocktail or fancy coffee drink. For me, I developed more intolerances and was unable to dine out safely anywhere so I...
  11. I don't need a reply. I was simply posting my experience on the subject. As volunteers, we moderators are given the same Board Rules as each and every member. If you are upset with my action when you posted a link that broke the "no self promotion" rule, I strongly suggest you talk to Scott Adams about it. If I was wrong, he'll be happy to reverse...
  12. Mast Cells are certainly involved in the mechanism that caused me to develop many "delayed food allergies". Until I recently found the correct combo of H1, H2 and Mast Cell Blockers to control the mast cell reaction within my digestive system -- I had never got any food back that I've had to remove these past five years - except almonds. No amount of...
  13. Pizza last night was the best yet -- even the men liked! Used cauliflower, cream cheese and an egg for the crust - yum. I'm in the kitchen early as I needed a break from fighting with Mom's insurance companies -- not really fighting -- it's just the process. Anyhoo, thought I'd roll out some enchiladas and bake something yummy while watching the delayed...
  14. Oh wow...I can't wait to throw away a thousand bucks to add that title to my CV Sorry...I'd rather work towards being the oldest Chemistry Grad Student in the country
  15. I use olive oil with fresh herbs a bit of salt and agave whirled up in the blender. My favorite is cilantro sauce, followed closely by basil sauce.
  16. I've been reading along and I do not see an attack. Perhaps...re-read and re-phrase your thoughts. There are many members ready and willing to answer your questions. Hang in there
  17. Hi Raisin! You are close...but with celiac we have to be conscious of every item that enters our mouth. Period. Always. It is ultimately your choice...there is a way out of every situation where gluten may be present. Find it. Regardless of your celiac testing history -- if you are aware of severe gluten intolerance, your children should be tested...
  18. Oh to be a fly on the wall of that elevator Dinner tonight is Paleo Pizza with fresh basil, garlic, asparagus, green onion and mozzarella...not really sure what the men are having! Teasing -- Hubs making dinner for him and one son -- other has rotten cold so I made him a nice big bowl of turkey broth, broccoli, dakota squash and pork chop soup.
  19. You are welcome...sort of. Don't like to be right about histamine issues -- especially when the "allergic" type reactions are getting worse. I know you were looking for an allergist -- do try to find one soon. Limiting histamine containing/inducing foods is a very good place to start -- but you need to be carrying epi-pens if you are starting to experience...
  20. Welcome! A two week gluten elimination is entirely too short a time to rule out celiac disease. If you are certain you will not be pursuing celiac antibody testing, then make sure you remain COMPLETELY gluten-free for six months. When gluten is removed our bodies react to smaller and smaller quantities of gluten so if gluten is still entering your...
  21. She has symptoms that improved with the removal of gluten. She has a very high tTG-IgA. She has elevated liver enzymes -- My bet is this number will gradually fall back to normal with time gluten-free. Mine took about 18 months, but were a bit higher as I went un-dx'd for over 40 years. Her TSH is high -- Thyroid issues walk hand in hand with...
  22. Good Morning Manda! If you don't have them already, request written or electronic copies of her tests. Most doctors do not run a full celiac antibody panel -- only one or two of the screening tests. If you post her results in this thread -- try to include the reference ranges -- we can better answer the where do you go from here question. She does...
  23. Welcome Sock! lmao...had to throw on the readers to catch that one
  24. In my experience -- it was a lot harder and took a lot longer for me to accept that I could not do everything I needed/wanted to do, than it was for my family or my friends -- after all they were still off living and doing. We all have those days -- here's hoping you have more good than bad each day
