The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Celiac Mindwarp replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Spent the day stuffing myself, so not up to dinner. Note to self, just because the food you eat is healthy, doesn't mean you can eat in non stop. Think PMS is hitting in -
ARCHIVED I Got My Endoscopy Results Today, Help Please?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Miss-Marie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is a pretty standard set of tests that are normally done for nutrients alonside the one for celiac I think. Mine were done at the same time as the celiac ones. It should be a broad spectrum and include B12. My genetic one took about 6 weeks to come back. Even if you don't end up with a diagnosis, it is worth hanging around here if you have a gluten... -
ARCHIVED Dandy Blend Coffee Substitute
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Ciel121's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can't do coffee, gives me GERD intstantly, a wicked headrush and migraine. It took cleaning up my diet, and doing a serious elimination to work that out. I can't do coffee, but it aint cause of gluten. Nor are the corn, soy, sesame, alchohol and myriad other things I can't eat. The dairy, now there is some evidence of links, but I don't think even... -
ARCHIVED So Sensitive I May Quit My Job.
Celiac Mindwarp replied to mamatrois's topic in Super Sensitive People
Hiya That sound really difficult Rachel. Welcome to the board by the way I wonder if you could talk to them a bit about why the flour is a problem? And similar situations. Do you have a diagnosis? You could have some cover in law if so for accomodations. There are so often other things that could be used, maybe corn flour or coconut flour? They... -
Before Christmas I got glutened 5 times in 6 weeks. I told my husband if it kept happening, gluten would be banned. No problem since We have a similar 'tell me if you make a mistake' rule. Good luck

ARCHIVED Rashless On Rye And Spelt
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Wes R's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I used to be wheat free, not gluten free, and had loads of rye bread. After I did a gluten challenge, then cut out wheat again, before I went totally gluten-free, I found I couldn't tolerate the rye anymore. Not sure why, but I wondered if once I pushed my body to the limits with the gluten challenge, my y body was super keen I didn't bring back the gluten... -

ARCHIVED I Got My Endoscopy Results Today, Help Please?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Miss-Marie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I struggled to anything other than the basic panel in the UK, and they didn't tell me which tests I had. If you manage to get the full panel here, I'd love know! -
ARCHIVED Opt For Genetic Test?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to SeekingSarah's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I did blood tests, endoscopy, genetic tests and all came back negative. I reacted very badly to a gluten challenge, lasted 3 weeks and took months to recover. I went gluten-free anyway, and had an unbelievable improvement. I have an official NCGI diagnosis based on history and response to gluten. My diagnisis and encouragemnt to stay gluten-free comes... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Oats
Celiac Mindwarp replied to VeggieGal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hiya The advice I was given by a UK dietician on reintroducing things was to try half a portion on day 1, normal portion day 2 double portion day 3. I don't know if this works (because of the stuff I tried reintroducing, not much got past day 1...) but I know that eating massive bowl of porridge after a long gap would give a few people some issues... -

ARCHIVED Bad Handwriting - Silly Question
Celiac Mindwarp replied to klisja's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My handwriting is shocking. It deteriorates even more if I am tired or ill, so I see a possible link. I am also dyslexic. I have wondered if there is a link. Brain stuff, motor stuff... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Celiac Mindwarp replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Strop = bad mood, hissy fit, throwing a wobbly, sulking like a big girl, throwing my toys out of the pram. What do you guys call that? Mr M told me what you guys might mean, and it's nothing like that. Even if was, I wouldn't have the energy for that after the day I have had... Mr M made chicken, butternut squash, zucchini, mushroom. I think he must have... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Celiac Mindwarp replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hmmm. So, I made dinner, and got it out of the pan. Using the spoon I just used to serve the kids wheat pasta. It's in the trash. Dinner is whatever Mr Mindwarp kindly prepares while I get over my strop. Maybe. (I also have views about the quality of driving where I live). -
If you are eating gluten regularly now, you can get tested for celiac disease. A diagnosis may help you. Either way, only you can decide if your health is important to you. Folks here will help you through the process of going gluten-free (once testing is complete if you choose that route). Sometimes once you get gluten out of your system, cravings...

ARCHIVED Need Some Support?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to HumanDecency's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am wondering about cross contamination and/or other food intolerances emerging. I did do an elimination diet about 4 months in, and the last 5 months have been amazing. Normally I'd recommend it, but with your symptoms it seems sensible to get checked out too. A food diary, listing what you eat and symptoms can help, maybe along with an elimination... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Celiac Mindwarp replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Well, on reflection, maybe it wasn't so smart to try thai green curry on the same day I started a whole30 elimination diet. Tum not fantastically happy, but no other symptoms. Oh well, at least I don't feel like this all the time anymore. Dinner was chicken stir fry, carrots, zucchini, bell peppers and a sauce made of anchovies and coconut milk, with some... -
ARCHIVED Is Okay To Self Diagnose?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to freeme808's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was massively relieved when my endoscopy came back with just a small hiatus hernia. I had been gluten-free for a while, so didn't really expect a celiac diagnosis. I spent years thinking something terrible might be in there. Sounds like you have decided to take control now, great choice . I am Non Celiac Gluten Intolerant, and my life has been transformed... -

Welcome From your symptoms and improvement gluten-free, it certainly possible you have a sensitivity or intolerance. It depends how important a diagnosis is to you. ARCHIVED Gluten Sensitivity Or Disordered Eating? Not Sure What To Do?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to quester's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thinking back, I used to regurgitate along with reflux. It got way better when gluten-free, but I had to cut down processed foods and sugar. I haven't had it since January, except once when glutened. Keep at it -

Hi w8in, Yes, it is a version of paleo. It has turned my life around since January. How is your daughter getting on with it? Dinner tonight was Thai green curry. My 1st since gluten-free last September. It was divine. Been about 6 hours and so far so good....
