  1. gluten-free since September, and I still feel a bit giddy at how much better I feel High on life?
  2. Hey rene83 I hope things start to improve for you soon, most people seem to do so fairly quickly. I never quite worked out if I had gluten withdrawal, or I was still wrecked after my gluten challenge, but my symptoms were very similar to yours, and I was just a bit useless for a couple of weeks or so. I stood in tears in a health foods store because...
  3. Maybe check if any of your regular foods, medications etc to see if anything has changed? Do you eat a fairly simple diet? Plain meat, fish, fruit, veg might be worth a go to give your system a break. Might well be worth a check with the doctor to make sure there is nothing lurking around from the previous infection. I hope you work it out
  4. Great you got your results. Glad the family is taking notice too. Should make it easier if your son runs into any issues later. I agree on the scary bit. If it wasn't for this board I'd be out there eating gluten now with no clue about NCGI.
  5. For me, the key is the improvement in so many symptoms being completely gluten-free. I have ended up virtually paleo. I was more or less wheat free for 9 years, but the change from that to gluten-free is almost unbelievable. There is not much long term evidence about effects of untreated ncgi. For me, there is no going back to the pain and exhaustion...
  6. I think it is that oats can be cross contaminated, being grown, harvested with other crops, or processed on the same machinery. Also, some folks have a reaction to the proteins in oats, which are similar to those in wheat, rye and barley, and have a similar reaction to being 'glutened'. The general advice around here is to use gluten-free oats, and to consider...
  7. Hi dbygones Welcome to the site, glad you found us. I will have a go at some of your questions. I am in the UK too, and went through the NHS diagnosis system. I would say that you need to know your stuf when you talk to doctors, as the knowledge of celiac an non celiac gluten intolerance is mixed. We have had great reports of NHS doctors (including...
  8. The advice in the UK is to always carry 2 epipens, in case a 2nd dose is needed. Not sure if it is the same where you are. My son has anaphylactic allergy to nuts. We were told that if he had a second exposure, the reaction would likely be worse than the first, just to let you know. Epipens in hand, and make sure those around you know how to use them. ...
  9. I like gold toenails for summer It is OK to feel a bit sad too IH, it means you have good memories to take with you (and they take up less boxes than the books...) Grey and gloomy day here, but we had a week of sunshine before Have a good one everyone x
  10. Where is everyone? Lamb rice carrots green beans.
  11. Hi Marcus I don't have DH, but following negative blood tests, biopsy and genetic test I have been declared NCGI. I have been strictly gluten-free since September 12, and clean wholefoods, paleoish, dairy free since. January 13. I have just got better and better, with a host of symptoms clearing, including eczema and random rashes. My skin is much softer...
  12. Thanks all Haha on bras! I do keep changing shape as well as size, and seem to lose inches before pounds. I managed to lose 6 inches of my bra size without going down a cup size. (Shrinking a bit now, saggy cup alert!) I am trying not to think about what 2 pregnancies and c-sections did to my tum (but you know those full cake size muffin style molds?...
  13. It sounds like you are doing the right things here. Could you tell his school that you have suspicions and that it may take some time to get a diagnosis? Maybe they could hold off any action until you have seen the doctor and pursued testing. You could explain that he needs testing, and must eat gluten for testing, but that either way, you will be trialling...
  14. Good Day Sunshine - The Beatles
  15. Life is good Fantastic that it is for some of you too (Fingers crossed for those who are on the way to good)
  16. Interesting question I have looked around for the last year, and I keep going back to Gluten Dude, Whole30 (I am grain free except rice), Mark's daily apple and the university of Chicago site (for information). Good luck

  18. Going to a go go - Smokey Robinson and The Miracles
  19. Hi there Sounds like something going on still. Have a look at the newbie101 thread in the coping with section. Many of us spot places we could be getting cross contamination. One other possibility is that you could (also??) have developed food intolerances, which many of us seem to do. Read around and ask questions, we will do our best to help you get...
  20. Well, between me and the kids I have a choice of peridot, opal and turquoise or zircon. I have them all separately, but not together. Not sure that would work at all. Maybe I can find alternatives on other websites I have lost enough weight that my wedding and engagement rings are trying to fall off, so I am wearing a smaller one to hold them on...
  21. I am loving the pink carrots!!!!!! I used to wear pink a lot, but I am so out cuted by my 3 year old, I can't carry it anymore
  22. Ooo bbq weather, and it is a bank holiday here on Monday. Ours looks like an old steam locomotive, it is huge. Mr Mindwarp will be very excited.
  23. I spent my first few weeks here lurking and saying 'that's me, that's me'. I had tests and biopsy, but couldn't last on a gluten challenge, and my tests were negative. My gene tests were negative too, and my G I diagnosed Non Celiac Gluten Intolerance NCGI. I ended up on a whole foods diet and uncovered several food intolerances, but I feel better than...
  24. There does look to be some excellent info in that article. Hopefully you will find more here, there's a bunch of savvy folks here. There is an excellent book that IrishHeart recommend, I will hunt down the reference if she doesn't pop up with it
  25. Hi lovechild, welcome to the forum That is a very familiar looking list of symptoms. If you do want to change Dr, if you tested very quickly you could try and minimize how long you need to eat gluten for a blood test. It might take longer to get a biopsy done. Do you have a list of the tests you had done? You will find the recommended panel on the board...
