ARCHIVED Struggling With Anger At Doctors
Celiac Mindwarp replied to greenbeanie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi greeniebeanie I am so sorry to hear you have had such a terrible time with doctors. No one deserves to be treated like that. Sadly, this is a very familiar story. Many of us have been told we are stressed, making it up etc. It sounds as if you are doing exactly the right things. There is a list around of the FULL list of tests to request. The fact... -

ARCHIVED Mushroom (Neroli) Memorial Thread
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Scott Adams's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Oh Em, I promised myself I wouldn't cry but you got me with the cats. It is nice to think they will keep each other company. I know it sounds stupid, but I hadn't really considered that she might not make it. She had just got through so much, I thought she would do it. I remember soon after I arrived that someone asked if she was some super trendy 1... -
ARCHIVED Support Forum Is It?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Ksee's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I hate it when people are mean and make assumptions. But the support I have had here and on another site of a man known for the odd rant, have given me back my life. I will always be grateful to the folks who give so much of their time and knowledge here. When I started here I remember thinking some people were a bit hard on people who hadn't found their... -

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Celiac Mindwarp replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thanks for everyone's good wishes about my Mum. For what it is worth, I went for an approach of slow drip feed, transforming my health, and major emotional blackmail, when I told her as I couldn't get a diagnosis, but if she did, it might help if the kids ever needed it. Not proud, but desperate and happy. Dinner is whatever goes out of date today. -
ARCHIVED Just Venting
Celiac Mindwarp replied to NotMollyRingwald's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
IT WILL GET BETTER AFTER (all of it iykwim) My husband has back and even better version of me than the one he married. It is always worth calling for cancellations. I wrote down my gluten challenge symptoms and my doctor saw me pretty sharply. I know you want the definitive diagnosis, but many of us are ncgi, and experience massive benefits from gluten... -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Ankylosing Spondylitis
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Deaminated Marcus's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Marcus I tested negative too, but the reduction in all sorts of symptoms has been phenomenal. I have ended up paleo plus rice, with several intolerances on top of gluten, including dairy, soy and corn. I had back and neck pain, shoulder, was treated for repetitive strain injury in my hands, plantar faciitis, migraines etc. I had physio twice a week to... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Celiac Mindwarp replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Who cares what's for dinner, my Mum called to say she has booked a celiac test this week, and is going to try gluten-free whatever the results. Her stoopid doctor told her to not worry about tests, but try wheat free for a couple of weeks to see if it helped. She persuade the doc, and I persuaded Mum to try gluten-free not just wheat free with 'well, I... -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Ankylosing Spondylitis
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Deaminated Marcus's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hey Marcus Glad to see you at least have some results. I don't know about you celiac results, but mine took ages, 3 weeks or so (and that was after they lost my 1st one at the lab, so I had already waited a month 'growling smilie'). Did they manage to do it all from the same blood draw? Are you waiting for a biopsy too? Yet more research ahead for you... -
ARCHIVED Battling No Food
Celiac Mindwarp replied to UnhappyCoeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Before I knew I was non celiac gluten intolerant, I was 'mostly' wheat free. If I ate wheat, maybe just half a piece of toast, the next day I would have 2 slices. Within a week I would be eating cakes and pastries every day. It would stop after about 3 weeks, when I would be very violently sick. I am not proud of this. It happened about every 18 months... -
ARCHIVED Am I The Only One Who Has Doubts?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to StormyWen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wasted 9 years 'mostly wheat free'. I had a hunch it might be gluten, but didn't research it or try the diet because it looked hard. I still even get the odd stray thought maybe it's not gluten, despite a gluten challenge where I thought I might die, and a life totally transformed by being gluten-free. All my doctors told me I was tired because I have... -
ARCHIVED Shocked And Overwhelmed
Celiac Mindwarp replied to slickdaddy0077's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Michael Welcome to the board (even if you'd rather not be here). It does take a while to adjust, but not as long as you think. When I started posting Sept 12 I got sick of everyone telling me it would become the new normal, but it did. I tend to eat a breakfast thdt looks like lunch, say turkey, chicken or a homemade burger, eggs, sweet potato,... -

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Celiac Mindwarp replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Sweet potato, scrambled eggs, mushrooms and parma ham. Odd day, I think I got dairied for the first time, my black decaf tea looked a bit cloudy. I had massive cravings and spent the day eating, and had to do the school run through a migraine fog (walking). I think the teachers thought I had been on the gin at lunchtime... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosis Frustration Uk
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Maldivesred's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I am in the UK too. 3 months or more does not seem unusual to wait for an endoscopy. It is really worth calling to see if you can get an earlier appointment, and be clear you would be available to take a cancellation at short notice (if you possibly can).I am pretty shameless when it comes to my kids health, and I would phone once a week for cancellations... -
