ARCHIVED How Much "cheating" Is Allowed ?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Tamber's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am guessing you got the message, so I won't add to the advice above Welcome to the board, sorry you need to be here. Hopefully you will find improvements on the gluten-free diet. It does take a while to get your head round it, but there are plenty of folks here who have traveled the road and are happy to help. Look at the 101 pinned thread for starters... -
Hey Peter Sending good thoughts. Wow, Rob is prolific! I haven't read any sf for a few years, but they look very good. Right up Mr Mindwarp's street too Not much news here, but very chilly. We saw some sun this morning and made it to the park. We are pretty hardy folk (I seem to sometimes be the only parent who thinks it is outside weather...)but...

ARCHIVED Can't Get Good Sleep
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Adalaide's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Adelaide I am another insomniac, and it varies how in control I am, so not sure I am best placed to give advice (not that that will stop me ) There is really good advice above, especially about late night screen time. I messed up a fair portion of my 20s with screen addiction. BUT - I get that you don't want to lose Fri and Sat night sessions.... -

Cookingpapa, sorry you had to go through that. My son was 4 when he had an anaphylactic reaction and I know it can be a scary time. We got a practice epipen, so we got used to it, and could show teachers, family and friends how it works. We also practiced with him, so he knows the routine, to reduce panic should we need to use it. He practiced on us and... -

Glad to hear it all went well today, will have fingers crossed for those scans. I saw quite a lot of my 2 c-sections, which was quite interesting. Strangely fascinating, though somewhat disconcerting. Your fighting spirit is amazing (even if it doesn't always feel like that to you...) Mw -

oooo, I have glittery cobalt blue nail polish here, what a fantastic excuse, I usually save it for music festivals. There sure are some folks need us thinking of them this week, and glittery blue toes would remind me very well. Positive blood tests, celiac genes, those symptoms and a diagnosis - looks like celiac. The biopsy is losing currency as the main diagnosis, and there is every chance that there was not enough gluten to get the antibodies high enough for the blood tests (there is a lot of debate about how much and how long is enough for testing). The positive in your story...

ARCHIVED So Glad I Found This Forum! New Here :)
Celiac Mindwarp replied to CrazyCandleLady's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
But - you have worked it out now and can start to heal Have you had a blood test for celiac? I would guess you could get that done without waiting for your doctor to return. A diagnosis may be helpful for you. That said, many of us are self diagnosed or non celiac gluten intolerant, and choose gluten-free for life, once we realize the benefits. ... -
ARCHIVED Are You Sensitive To Shared Pans?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to pianoland's topic in Super Sensitive People
If not using the dishwasher I always use separate sponges. I do gluten-free things 1st, then swap sponges for gluten things. If I am washing a pan which has been used for gluten, which also gets used for gluten-free, I do a 1st wash with the gluten sponge, then change to fresh water and the gluten-free sponge. Mine sponges are color coded. I have 2 sets of... -

Sounds like some improvement all round, good news I am tired but no migraine or frogs, so chief suspect is turkey steak which didn't get chucked, so I assumed was ok (not that I am shifting the blame or anything ). So common or garden food poisoning. Managed scrambled egg for breakfast. You folks managed to have kids at a much more sensible... -
ARCHIVED What To Expect, When
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Pam M's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I alternated constipation and D for about 3 weeks when I started gluten-free, having never really had it except when pregnant. It can take a while for your body to settle. Welcome Where else could you get to meet people and discuss BMs?Keep asking questions we have all been there and it really helps the transition. -
ARCHIVED Lab Results Negative. Everything Else Says Positive. Celiac?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to Trixlm's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
All looks like excellent advice to me. Lots of us struggle to get diagnosed, but the proof for me is in how much better I am without gluten, as you have found. Sadly, yours is not the only doctor with misinformation. I had problems with hormones, and was way better off the pill. The good news is you have worked it out while you are still young... -

Celiac Mindwarp replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Well, just got back from a shopping trip. Managed to get to a bathroom for 1st round of D, in the car for 1st V. Very focused yoga breathing for 40 min journey home ( last time I had to do that was in a small airplane on a windy day, over the grand canyon. Mr Mindwarp was not so lucky that time). Finished the job at home. Rest now, narrowing possible culprits... -

Hi I am sorry it has taken so long to get to the root of your problems. I am in the UK too. I had been wheat free for years before being tested for celiac. I only lasted 3 weeks on a gluten challenge, I was so ill. I had a genetic test which was negative. Based on my history and response my GI dignosed non celiac gluten intolerance. I have done...

ARCHIVED Study For Vaccine.......help
Celiac Mindwarp replied to valeriek's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would want to know if it offers immunity from effects of eating gluten (unlikely) or what they expect the results to be for you. I would be extra wary if there was no follow up testing in the months after to establish if it has 'worked'. Would it be one off or need repeating? Are they early or late stage trials? How many humans have been tested, with what... -
ARCHIVED Permanent Symptoms?
Celiac Mindwarp replied to SB3619's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Has he tried an elimination diet, and not just testing for intolerance? I found I have similar reactions to gluten from dairy and soy, for example, and have resolved many symptoms that I thought were cross contamination since removing them from my diet. Good luck. Read around the site, something might ring a bell... -
