  1. Hey Colleen Great to have you about
  2. Never managed to put a photo in before. These 2 handsome fellows adopted us Been awful quiet on here, hope everyone is having a fun summer.
  3. I was mostly wheat free and Atkins when I conceived, which probably gave me just enough chance. (Pre diagnosis)
  4. There is recognition that it is a spectrum, not got references handy.... Fairly new work, and goodness knows not many doctors know about it yet. You are in the club! I hope you will find the board welcoming. My tests including genetic all came back negative and I was given an NCGI diagnosis. Plenty of folks here are ncgi or self diagnosed. They even made...
  5. Maybe just a few months gluten-free then try? If you feel better and any blood testing shows an improvement after 3 months, consider starting then. Unless you run into problems, 6 months is likely to be fine. The outcomes for diagnosed celiacs are almost identical to non celiacs once they are on the gluten-free diet, and your chances of avoiding miscarriages...
  6. Could the pasta thing be cross contamination? An old gluteny sieve, spoon or pan? Seems most likely if all types of gluten-free pasta do it. Or maybe it is the sauce not the pasta. Or old condiments. Or an old plastic drink bottle. The only other thing I can think is that other grains are giving you a problem. Can't help on the exercise, sorry. Good luck...
  7. I just make a few fork holes in a potato and throw it in the microwave for 5 mins at a squeeze. Or pop a few in the oven at a time, then keep them in the fridge to heat up. I have been at home with the kids a while, but a year gluten-free and I am volunteering 2 to 3 days a week and planning to retrain and work full time. Miracles can happen
  8. Hi Jay So are you still eating gluten while you wait to get tested? Since I went gluten-free a year ago, I have had a massive improvement in my facial skin, it is smoother and soft, and I lost the spots that plagued me for years. I have lost over 45lbs but not got saggy skin. I am in my 40s. I only eat unprocessed foods, and get plenty of good fats olive...
  9. Hi Suzy Welcome to the forum So glad these posts have helped you. Just to let you know this is an old thread, and the original posters may not be about. Hopefully there will be some new ones to chip in their experiences. Do ask lots of questions. Most of us have made it through the gluten free transition and can help out if you have any wobbles...
  10. There are lots of symptoms there which do tie in with celiac or non celiac gluten intolerance. You might want to request an endoscopy, to see if there is any damage. Trying gluten-free for several months seems well worth a shot. Lots of us here are ncgi or self diagnosed and have turned our health around. FWIW I don't think this is in your head ( though gluten...
  11. Mine have been better since I had kids. They prefer Mr Mindwarp now. I do have an overall lower level of inflammation underlying now, maybe that helps.
  12. Rice lamb mushrooms red peppers. Too busy to cook anything fancy, having too much fun
  13. All my stuff is purple, including colander. I have small kids who know mommy gets sick if they touch my stuff...
  14. I had a similar list and like magic, no reflux! Great it is working, such a relief, isn't it? Nearly a year in I can handle some fruit again, woooo :). Processed stuff and caffeine and tea are my big no nos. Long may it last x
  15. There have certainly been folks here who have had very quick results, great you have had such a good response. If you want to be tested for celiac, you need to be eating gluten, so it would be worth getting tested ASAP, a blood test at least. It can be very hard to reintroduce once you have been off. You would also need to be eating it for a biopsy, which...
  16. My dreadful plantar fasciitis vanished within weeks of going gluten-free, and reappears if I get glutened. Isn't it great when you don't notice things are better, then suddenly realize? I noticed last week that my jaw doesn't click anymore. Great!!!
  17. Hope your doggy improves, so hard to see them struggling. I hope a yeti doesn't choose us....
  18. Hahaha, always glad help freak someone's head just a little bit, especially if it involves cats. Ours was a rescue cat, who I knew was coming to live with us as soon as I saw her little face on the website. I hope some new cats choose us soon....
  19. I have had no problems since going gluten-free, and giving up sugar for a few months. I can now eat fruit but not processed sugars. I hope you get some relief, I had it years and remember how horrible it is.
  20. I seemed to be really sensitive to all sugars for a while after going gluten-free, and couldn't even handle fruit. A few months in, I am improving but still can't handle anything with refined sugars. The body does weird stuff!! Hope you carry on working it out
  21. I am wondering if there is a correlation between cats and celiac/NCGI?? My cat died on Friday, under 10, no obvious reason She was a useless mouser. I once saw a mouse run between her front paws, and she didn't even notice. There do seem to be an awful lot of them about here.
  22. I think it will have to be some kind of chicken thinger. Not much brain power today... I am off to Google snickerdoodle in the name of international cultural understanding
  23. Well done for doing what you needed to do, massive step. I can't decide, almost a year in, if it gets easier, but I am certainly better at doing as a routine sort of thing, without being a bit cut up after. I am probably a bit less, err, emphatic and snarky about how I manage to do it. Everyone in your life is still just learning about this ( including...
  24. Hi coil Welcome to the board. I don't know much about vertigo, but I know there is a condition called gluten ataxia, where gluten affects the brain, and can affect balance. Gluten can also lead to depression, stress, anxiety and panic attacks in people who are celiac or gluten intolerant. Many people have great relief from these when gluten-free. Have...
  25. Hi Steffi Welcome to the board Yes, it is certainly possible for consuming gluten to be linked to depression. When I did a gluten challenge last summer I certainly found that and anxiety became much worse. It did start to clear again once I went gluten-free. One of the ways I know I have been glutened is an almost immediate sense of hopelessness, which...
