What Kind Of Doctor Can Test For Thyroid Or Sojourn Disease?

Recommended Posts

I have seen about 10  doctors and no one can help me. They just say go see someone else. I feel so sad. I have the tongue sore going around my tongue. It looks in appearance like a burn. My inside cheeks are all cut up very bad as well. I see someone in 3 weeks. I don't know what to do until then.:(

I would see an immunologist to get there opinion.... Do you take any kind of meds? I had this for nine months but also had severe swelling of the face.. I had angio lympathic edema of the fave outside & inside the mouth...the doc said it was one of the worse cases he ever seen... What caused this to happen was my insurance changed my thyroid med to generic levothyroxine , a couple of pills I was done for then I reacted to many other meds & now can't take them any longer...

I could barely sip through a straw because my mouth, tongue & soft mouth tissue was so sore it bleed, very painful....

if you want to ask more ???'s just PM me.....

hope you find an answer...

Endocrinologists for thyroid but most will only check your TSH.. You need to fight to get the total thyroid panel .... Tsh, T-3 T-4, FreeT-3 Free T-4 , total T-3 , reverse T-3,

sojourns' is usually a very dry mouth.....

Do you have a scalloped tongue?

have you checked your blood sugar levels & A1C?

To be tested for thyroid disease and Sjogren's Syndrome, all you need is a good doctor, who understands these two AI diseases well.  I do not go to specialists for any of my 4 AI diseases because my PCP is well versed in them and she just runs blood work every now and again to see what my inflammatory markers are for them.  I have these 2 diseases myself. Personally, I have never had any luck with specialists.  All they want to do is try and book you in for many visits, which you usually do not need, or put you on some kind of medication, which I generally do not take.  The important thing is to find a doctor who listens and takes your symptoms into account with regards to the whole picture.

I had sore tongue issues and mouth sores for years.  All caused by Celiac and Sjogren's. That doesn't happen anymore after going strictly gluten-free and using certain products to combat dry mouth.

I am going to see an oral surgeon on Friday. Maybe he will know something. I will bring the list with all of your suggestions on them. No I have not had any recent tests. Everyone sends me away and says that they don't know what it is. :( That is why I need your help so badly. I see a specialist in SF in 3 weeks 5 hours away. I saw and ENT and he said no one in our town can help me. I want to cry most of the time.

My brother died 2 weeks ago and my son was told some very sad news this weekend regarding one of his friends. So my stress level has been very high.

I always appreciate your help.
