Hey everyone so I started a gluten free diet for now almost 4 months I gained 5 kg but the problem is I feel more fatigued as time goes by it's worse before eating gluten. I take iron, magnesium glycinate , probiotics, and omega 3 they helped me I could feel my hair and nails growing and I gained weight but the bloating fatigue and head pressure in my jaw and neck is insane someone help me

Were you diagnosed with celiac disease? It sounds like you’re doing a lot of the right things, but worsening fatigue and ongoing symptoms after four months gluten-free isn’t something to ignore. A few possibilities to consider: accidental gluten exposure (very common, especially from cross-contact), nutritional imbalances despite supplements (iron, B12, folate, and vitamin D are worth rechecking), or even something else overlapping like thyroid issues or another condition. Weight gain and improved hair/nails suggest some healing is happening, but the persistent bloating, fatigue, and head/neck pressure could mean your body is still inflamed or reacting to something in your diet. It would be a good idea to follow up with your doctor for labs and possibly a dietitian review to go through your daily intake in detail—sometimes hidden gluten or even other food sensitivities can be the culprit.

Hey i am diagnosed since the age of 5 and I have been gluten free although I used to get glutened alot because I was living with my grandma so I was malnourished most of my life and since the age of 13 I have been eating cake , and lots of gluten stuff with my friends and I didn't take it seriously because I didn't have any reactions except underweight and anemia always which my mom thought its because i don't eat enough . But at the age of 17 I found a post which talked about celiac and I educated my self about it because I would always get iron infusions and tired and doctors don't really care  or bother about celiac in my country  (Sudan) .I was 44 kg I am 5'3 (160 cm ) and after 4 months of gluten free diet but I still get glutened alot because every time I discover something has gluten because our culture food is heavily involve gluten and spices that contain gluten. My diet now is basic eggs milk lentils kidney beans rice and beef meat and some fruits I take my vitamins, but the head pressure is crazy I feel my head is being dragged up and my neck muscles become so tight specially on the right side of my neck from the front it's literally pumps like the left side . My symptoms usually come and go . I can't go to any doctors now because it's to expensive where I live now and my family prioritize emergencies and since my celiac isn't considered serious to them they don't really care

Are you taking a B Complex vitamin?  These are eight important vitamins, mostly found in meat and beans, but they can be low with Celiac disease because of poor absorption.  Thiamine Hydrochloride Vitamin B 1 is extremely important because it lowers inflammation.  You may begin to feel better if you add Thiamine Hydrochloride and a B Complex to your supplements.  Thiamine Hydrochloride is needed to absorb iron.  Thiamine works with magnesium to make life sustaining enzymes. Thiamine is needed to provide energy for body functions.  Symptoms can wax and wane depending on how much thiamine is absorbed from the diet.  Adding Thiamine Hydrochloride and the other B vitamins can improve how your body functions.

I used to take vitamin b complex but I was not consistent with it b.ut I'll add thiamine hydrochloride to my supplements thanks

Have you thought about cutting dairy out of your diet?  The protein Casein in dairy causes the same inflammatory response as Celiac Disease does.  About half of people with Celiac react to Casein.  I can't have dairy at all.  Perhaps you could try eliminating dairy and see if there's any health improvements.  

P.S. all the B vitamins work together, so adding both thiamine hydrochloride and B Complex should help significantly!

Hey I thought about cutting dairy but tbh I rely on milk for a big part of my diet and honestly I don't think I have reaction to dairy I only drink milk to add to my calories and eat it with my cereals but I don't eat cheese,and other dairy stuff already . Also milk and sesame are my calcium intake so I don't know what to replace it with,I don't want to rely on supplements for everything. But I will sure look into the milk and try a month without dairy to see if there is improvement

I understand your concern about getting enough calcium.  Since I don't do dairy, I focus on green leafy vegetables.  

Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Bok Choy, turnip greens, kale are good sources of calcium.  

But NOT Spinach!  Spinach can cause kidney stones because it's high in oxides.  Celiac people can have a problem dealing with the oxides in foods, especially if they are insufficient in thiamine.  

I'm glad you're brave enough to try dairy free for a few weeks at least.  I do hope you'll be able to consistently take the B Complex and thiamine during that time.  Keep me posted on your progress!  Be encouraged!

Thanks for your advice.  I actually had a small kidney stone . Ill try to cut diary and see if there is any progress I'll Keep you updated

      BuddhaBar, I came across this thread while searching online for celiac insomnia (having also scared myself stupid by finding out about fatal insomnia) and it did bring me some piece of mind as it so closely matches my own experience. I know this thread is old now, I hope you're doing well, and thanks for posting your experience.

      That's great news, @HelloFlowersGoodbyeFlour.  And you might find that if you do have asthma, keeping your reflux under control may help, if my experience is anything to go by.

      Quick update I ended going to a clinic they heard me wheezing and gave me a steroid shot I’m feeling much better now and I’m planing on getting reevaluated for asthma as the clinic doctor is thinking it might be that based on how I reacted to the steroid. But he couldn’t diagnose.  thanks again to everyone that applied (still seeing the gastrointestinal doctor too!)

      Definitely worth speaking to your gastroenterologist about this. My own told me that by using Gaviscon a barrier forms over the contents of the stomach and stops gas and acid irritating the throat.  In fact, he said to me that because I found relief using Gaviscon that was a very clear indicator that reflux was the cause of that particular issue.   A wedge pillow will really help with this - or raising the top bed legs with bricks.
