BTW, been offline because Clark got even sicker. I've had to sleep in Tony's room because he sounds like Darth Vader. I He actually took two sick days and he usually only calls out when I need him. But after all he does for me he deserves a lot of TLC. Phone rang at 6:30 AM this morning. It was our son wanting to be picked up earlier today. He was staying until his BF ( a girl) left and evidently the airport isn't letting anyone without a boarding pass hang around. He was able to wait with her for Thanksgiving. I guess they're upping the security.

I only have a coupla days. Nathan and his wife are driving up from Texas. They'll be here tomorrow. We'll have Christmas this Sunday. Guess I oughta put up the tree :ph34r:

From here they drive to Michigan to see her family.

Hope you all have a wonderful time with your families. We'll eventually see Clark's cousins but not for Christmas. We saw my brother and SIL 2 weeks ago. We have a tiny family. Clark and I are placing bets on when we'll be ready for Tony to go back to school. As I mentioned the other day he has 6 weeks off. He's supposed to go visit pfriends back home for a week. I spent more on pfood yesterday than I have for a month and it won't last. I'm sure he's not looking forward to eating gluten-free.

OK, time to wrap the last presents before they get home. We postponed our company until tomorrow so I'll be offline til Monday.

I'll miss my psilly pfamily!

:P Sleep last night. More than 9 hours. I was sooo exhausted and I have sooo much stuff to do in the next week.

I take retake the GRE on Monday so I'm doing the practice tests for that. Gotta order all my transcripts, do my personal statement so's I can give it to the folks from whom I've requested letters of reference, last weekend of the play starts tonight, caroling on Saturday, Messiah sing-a-long on the 28th, gotta figure out a new class to take.

Bah.

So if you're congratulated for finishing, then you never really stop being congratulated, right?............ :D

I sooooo have not done any Christmas cards. Was planning on it. Maybe I'll take them with me tonight to work on in the car. That'll take my eyes off the road while hub's driving over the pass..... Maybe I'll be sitting in the back seat. 10 to 1, I'll be the one driving <_<

I've gotten this damn cold that's going around here, but I swear I'm skiing tomorrow, snot bubbles and all!! :rolleyes:

I need to take learn to be more like you..... Was thinking about trying this weekend, but found out the 'toe cleavage guy' from last year is putting us all up in condos-3 couples per condo.... I'm soooo not the swinging type! Well, not with these people anyways........... :ph34r:

Got the same cold. Clark gave it to me as an early Xmas present. Enjoy the skiing. You're not the type to let a cold keep you down!

Went to my Brother and SIL's house for their winter solstice bonfire. When I went in, a bunch of the dishes of food had little 'gluten free' signs on them. :)

Your party was wilder than mine. I spent a lot of time sitting on the floor, petting the host's old sick Golden. Told the host ( one of hubs bosses) that I like dogs better than people.

That is awesome and so considerate. Which brings me to a question I was going to post. We were invited to a New Year's Eve party in our neighborhood (a woman in my painting class lives up the block in our development). Everyone brings an appetizer. I figured a vegetable or fruit platter would be the safest as I could recognize it. Any other suggestions? Clark and I usually spend New Year's home with Tony but this will be a good way for us to meet our neighbors.

The couple next door to us that we really like will be there. The family on the other side is the the one with 7 kids and not really friendly. They're away for two weeks so they won't be at the party. I tried reaching to to the wife when we first moved here (she was pregnant with their 7th child) but she was weird so after the 7th call I stopped trying. I still gave them a present when she had the baby and made special Halloween bags with toys for her children.

BTW, dinner went well with Rob's friend from work and his wife. We really hit it off so I'm beginning to feel less isolated. He filled me in on some of the things he hs to avoid in his diet (at least he did for two years). My diet is going to be even more limited but I want to get well. I also know that, unlike him, I'll always have t remain gluten-free (he never had to ). He told me that the doctor I'm seeing will spend an hour (or however long I need) with me and will be willing to try anything that I might come across even if he's never heard of it. I wish I had gone to him when we first moved here.

Off to fold laundry (it seems to grow like weeds) and then my little girl will be here for tutoring.

Bring whatever you want to the party but don't expect to eat it. Once the crackers and bread are being eaten, the crumbs will be in your carrot sticks and dip ( or whatever). I just went to a party where I got a drink, then stayed in one of the other parts of the party away from the food. It helped that we ate at PF Changs before and had the chocolate dome dessert!

Yep--Make yourself a small container of veggies and dip while you're putting together the platter.....maybe a baggie of gluten-free crackers and/or Lay's Stax too. Carry a bag that will accommodate your snacks, grab a drink, and have a great time :D

Thanks to both replies. I figured I would eat before the party. Keeping a snack in a ziplock bag is a great idea. Clark will be in heaven eating all the gluten he wants. The last New Year's Eve party we went to was the year of Y2K so I was surprised when he said we should go. Evidently some people get rather dressed up for it. The woman throwing it is English. I might even buy myself a nice outfit for it.

Clark seems to be a little better but he used to bounce back immediately after getting sick (one day) and this is dragging on. I did sleep last night without his cough or Darth Vader breathing waking me up. He went into work today. He didn't want to take another day since Pfizer has a reputation for letting people go without you seeing it coming. He wants and needs to make a good impression. Luckily he's creating a software program that they're interested in. When they bought his former company (Wyeth) only 40 people were brought up here and they let more than 40 go at Pfizer.

      You have an odd story there. To me, the mechanical trigger suggests a mechanical problem and lower leg pain is a classic sciatica symptom. The fact that the clear mechanical linkage is no longer there does not take away from the fact that it was - maybe something shifted and the simple alignment is no longer there. There's also a good chance I am wrong and...

      Oddly this effect has gone now, just happened yesterday evening, the nerve pain is now back to its usual "unpredictable" random self again - but that was the only time I ever had some mechanical trigger for it, don't know why! There's no (or wasn't) actual pain in my neck - it was inside the leg, but when I looked down, now though, the leg pain just comes...

There's also a good chance I am wrong and it's something else entirely. @Scott Adams's mention of shingles is interesting. It seems possible but unlikely to me, but who knows. However, I am writing here to reinforce the idea of getting the shingles vaccine. Ask anyone who has ever had shingles and they will bend your ear telling you how bad it is. I watched my wife go through it and it scared the bejeebers out of me. Even if you had the chicken pox vaccine, you really want to get the shingles vaccine.

There's no (or wasn't) actual pain in my neck - it was inside the leg, but when I looked down, now though, the leg pain just comes and goes randomly as before again.

      I had MRI scan a few years ago showing everything normal, and now it's no longer triggering the nerve pain when I bow my head today - it only seemed to happen yesterday, and that was the only time it happened! Just seemed weird as no movement has caused my usual nerve pain before. It's normally just random.
