New law rule proclamation....whatever, that all instructional assistants must take a test to prove they are capable of doing their job. Fail it, and you no longer have a job. So.....the school district gives everyone practice tests, provides tutoring sessions, more practice tests, helpful booklets, yada yada. Time allotted for the test....2 1/2 hours, 90 questions. I took a practice test, ignored everything else.

Finished the test in a little over an hour. 100%!!!!! Yay me! B)

I believe that one does not normally consider disposing of something until the something has been used up. To make the disposal the governor of the consumption is a bit like putting the cart before the horse, so to speak. The disposal is considered once the consumption has occurred, or something like that. Otherwise one would come to think of the consumption as a chore which would spoil its enjoyment, which would mitigate against the self-righteousness one would feel in disposing of the something in an environmentally sound and timely manner. Unless, of course we are talking of.... wait.... five liters??????

So now I'm trying to empty the wine bottle. Is this the correct approach to the issue? Or should I go buy another 5 liters of wine and try to finish it in 6 days?

L, I've been meaning to ask you something I've been wondering about for some time now....perhaps I've even asked you about it already.. .. . ....when people who use sign language are thinking of something spoken, do they see li'l hands moving in their heads? :huh:

Welllll......I never really thought about it, but I suppose it makes sense.

And of course when they dream, too.......Which reminds me of the time I went to a football game at the deaf school. I was trying to get from the stands to the concession stand, and there were all these people standing around in groups of 2, 3, 4, whatever, hands going like crazy everywhere. It was so eerily quiet, except for the faint sound of moving hands. And I was trying to weave my way through this huge crowd. It felt like a forest of deaf people.....so surreal....like a really bizarre dream.

......Which reminds me of the time I went to a football game at the deaf school. I was trying to get from the stands to the concession stand, and there were all these people standing around in groups of 2, 3, 4, whatever, hands going like crazy everywhere. It was so eerily quiet, except for the faint sound of moving hands. And I was trying to weave my way through this huge crowd. It felt like a forest of deaf people.....so surreal...

... .Whoa...and how strange it would be to be in the stands during this game, surrounded by deaf fans.. .. . . .....silence. No screaming, swearing, cheering.. . . ......just hands moving wildly as the hometown scores.. .. . ....

I do see many of you on the 'book - I'm, um, ridiculously and pathetically active over there.....too many HS friends and such.....so - the problem is I got sucked into THAT vortex - have a thread w/ five other girlfriends from high school going on 2.5 years now - THAT is what happened. But alas, I'm unemployed again, have plenty of time to visit TWO threads :lol:

Oh! and the FUN super EXCITING NEWS is that I'm heading into MENOPAUSE!!! yay!!! Hot flashes and mood swings and CRYING all the time, SUPER SUPER FUN!!!

yup <_< the Psycho Woman fired me while going through divorce (husband will hire me back when all is calm)....no more picking up tires, other weird things in CA or the midwest - we have LOST our JOBS, Leesargh!! :angry: <she writes me nice emails frequently and wants to be my friend - Ummmmm - NO, not now>

Been there done that. Boy, that was some week! :o

Seriously....not kidding :P I'm one of the lucky ones. Menopause was pretty uneventful. This is my theory.......I am almost always cold, layering clothes all the time. So my 'hot flashes' appeared as more like 'warm moments'. Quite pleasant, actually. :D

Honey......I'm into my 50's and still got 'em. Just went to the dermatologist the other day and got a prescription. It's awesome! My daughter brought home some samples a couple months ago and I loved it! So I made an appointment with my dermatologist to get my own. I figure...at my age, I deserve clear skin. What took me so long?

Would someone please tell me how to fix my multi-quote???

Well, I can tell you that I went birding and then came home and finished Sarah's Key. I did realy like the beginning of it . . . the ending was fair . . . I wanted to hear more about Sarah and less about Julia. It is better than the last few books we've had at book club.

Today is all about mulch. I ordered Friday, had it delivered yesterday, and today I will watch my husband distribute it around the yard :P

Well, I can tell you that I went birding and then came home and finished Sarah's Key. I did realy like the beginning of it . . . the ending was fair . . . I wanted to hear more about Sarah and less about Julia. It is better than the last few books we've had at book club.

Today is all about mulch. I ordered Friday, had it delivered yesterday, and today I will watch my husband distribute it around the yard :P

Kind of a nasty day for birdng, wasn't it? I went garage-saleing....got rained on a bit, then grocery shopping.

I'm in Tulsa for my boy's lacrosse tournament. M is very excited because they let him play a lot ( by his standards).

Had one kid yesterday vomiting. Woke up this morning & M at the door. His roommate was vomitting. Then started hearing the people next door vomitting. Then someone in the hall, then the other next door!

R checked on M's roomie. He vomits for allergies ( pollen, grass, etc) the morning after the exposure. The other rooms aren't our kids. There was a wild wedding and prom kids with rooms last night.

I lead such an exciting life.

      My dad had an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. Fortunately, it was discovered during an exam. The doctor could feel my dad's heart beating in his stomach. The aneurysm burst when the doctor first touched it in surgery. Since he was already hooked up to the bypass machine, my dad survived ten more years. Close call!       You have an odd story there. To me, the mechanical trigger suggests a mechanical problem and lower leg pain is a classic sciatica symptom. The fact that the clear mechanical linkage is no longer there does not take away from the fact that it was - maybe something shifted and the simple alignment is no longer there. There's also a good chance I am wrong and...

      Oddly this effect has gone now, just happened yesterday evening, the nerve pain is now back to its usual "unpredictable" random self again - but that was the only time I ever had some mechanical trigger for it, don't know why! There's no (or wasn't) actual pain in my neck - it was inside the leg, but when I looked down, now though, the leg pain just comes...

      I had MRI scan a few years ago showing everything normal, and now it's no longer triggering the nerve pain when I bow my head today - it only seemed to happen yesterday, and that was the only time it happened! Just seemed weird as no movement has caused my usual nerve pain before. It's normally just random.

      This hypothesis certainly lines up with my experience. Avoided getting Covid until August 2022. Celiac diagnosis three months later, and they think they caught it early (not a ton of damage in my EGD). I'd suspected the connection before, so it's nice to see researchers are interested in this question.

There's also a good chance I am wrong and it's something else entirely. @Scott Adams's mention of shingles is interesting. It seems possible but unlikely to me, but who knows. However, I am writing here to reinforce the idea of getting the shingles vaccine. Ask anyone who has ever had shingles and they will bend your ear telling you how bad it is. I watched my wife go through it and it scared the bejeebers out of me. Even if you had the chicken pox vaccine, you really want to get the shingles vaccine.

      Very good pizzeria with small dining room in back of the restaurant. The owner's daughter has celiac & they have gluten free pizza & a gluten free menu. Some items from the regular menu can be made gluten free also. They have a lunch menu which we ordered from & my chicken with spinach & mozzarella over gluten-free penne was delicious. They also have Tuesday night pasta specials & Thursday night chicken pasta specials. We plan on going back for dinner soon.
