you can use hemp protein, rice protein, pea protein. obviously, you'll want to mix in your own other ingredients (I often use coconut milk and fruit, but there's other options) to make it more palatable. :)

Anyone know of a protein powder out there that is gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free? I need to add more protein to my diet, and would like to add a protein shake before workouts.

Thanks.

A

Nutiva makes a great shake with Hemp protein that I love. You don't have to add anything because they're flavored. I bought the chocolate and the berry pomegranate that I haven't tried yet but the choc. is great. It's sweetened with evaporated cane juice however.

The other mix I use is jarrow formulas brown rice protein. With this one you have to add your own fruit and sweetner. Its just bown rice protein and a natural vanilla flavor.

Have you considered chia seeds?

If you go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chia_seed or http://www.natures-emporium.com/chiaseedsoil.html you can get more info, and I know that Dr. Mercola promotes its use, as well.

Google "chia seeds protein" for a load of information.

I put them in my shakes every day! You can grind them first if you prefer, but I don't bother.

gluten-free since 2/10/08

EnteroLab results 4/18/08:

Antigliadin IgA 228 (Normal Range <10 Units)

Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA 191 Units (Normal Range <10 Units)

Anti-casein IgA antibody 127 Units (Normal Range <10 Units)

Guess I'm going CF now, too!
