I have been frequenting some vegan sites due to my other food allergies...milk, eggs....besides my needs for gluten-free recipes. I found this the other day. I think it leaves room for alot of tweeking on your own, should you want to.

Pumpkin Pie Shake

vegan, serves 2-3

15 ounces organic canned pumpkin - 1 can (not pie mix)

*Farmer's Market brand of organic pumpkin really is my fave.

1/4 cup raw cashews

1/4 cup non-dairy milk, vanilla (soy or hemp preferred)

2 Tbsp maple syrup

1/4 cup vegan chai tea concentrate

2 Tbsp soy milk creamer

2 dashes cinnamon

1 dash cayenne

2 dashes nutmeg

pinch of salt

1 1/2 cups ice (coconut water ice cubes approved for this pie shake)

optional: 1/2 frozen banana, pinch of flax seed oil/meal for added nutrition

Directions:

1. Add all your ingredients, except the ice, to the blender.

2. Blend on high until smooth. Yes the pumpkin will make this smoothie thick, so be patient while blending. If you need to add more 'milk' go ahead.

3. Keep blending and slowly add in the ice. Make sure it blends icy-smooth! Again, if you need to add a bit more liquid, do it gradually. You can always do a taste test before pouring and modify as needed to suit your own tastes. I added in a few extra cashews because I liked the body and flavor that they added.

4. Pour, sprinkle with cinnamon on top. Whipped rice cream-optional, but yummy.

Serve! Delicious any time of day. Dessert-friendly.

Pumpkin, spices, vodka, and brandy.

Maybe not for the little ones, but it would make the evening more fun for you.

Yours sounds like the one I was looking at except yours has vanilla and the others didn't. I will try it...Thanks! Some recipes have orange juice in it.

Very interesting...my dd loves cashews and has been drinking chai tea lately.

I might try your concoction on the next batch. I don't have the chai tea concentrate. Sounds like she might like it, she's 18. Thanks!

Bananas do not agree with me at all do you think these smoothies would turn out ok without them.

I saw a recipe that had frozen/canned/fresh apricots. One recipe w/o banana. Another used frozen pineapple, yogurt and orange juice. Several used brown sugar. Another used ice cream. How about apples or peaches? I bought some big cans of pumpkin, so when I get a can opened I can experiment and freeze the rest in baggies so its ready to twirl.

They all sound yummy ;)

Definitely worth speaking to your gastroenterologist about this. My own told me that by using Gaviscon a barrier forms over the contents of the stomach and stops gas and acid irritating the throat.  In fact, he said to me that because I found relief using Gaviscon that was a very clear indicator that reflux was the cause of that particular issue.   A wedge pillow will really help with this - or raising the top bed legs with bricks.

I did get the pneumonia vaccine about 4 years ago. I had this amazing allergist who did all those vitamin deficiencies test and told to get that vaccine. Unfortunately she retired.  I haven’t been to an allergist in a few years,  I’m not sure what my levels are now. I did have a pulmonologist who wasn’t concern and said I seemed fine to him that I was young etc. But yes I think I should at the very least get a different opinion. Thank you for your reply

Yes I do have acid reflux. I’m not on anything for it at the moment. I sometimes wonder if that’s what it could be because I get heart burn every night. I may revisit my gastrointestinal doctor again. Thanks for the reply

Hi @HelloFlowersGoodbyeFlour I wonder if you suffer from reflux, as if you do, you may find it could also be irritating your airways.  I shall explain: I have to use a blue inhaler from time to time, and it seems to be related to reflux.  Never had any trouble before my coeliac diagnosis, the reflux seemed to be something that developed following a holiday to France in 2019, where I had been exposed to gluten.    The reflux continued into the autumn and winter, my throat itched to begin with, particularly after meals, but it then that feeling of irritation seemed to spread to my lungs.  I even found it difficult to breathe on occasion. What stopped it in its tracks was using a wedge pillow at night, following a reflux diet (you can find them online), not eating 2-4 hours before bed and also having a dose of Gaviscon Advanced at night, which forms a barrier so that acid/food can't go back up your esophagus.  The throat irritation faded, and then I found it easier to breathe again. Just mentioning in case it could be a contributing factor.

Since initially getting your D checked a few years ago, has it since rebounded to normal levels? Sounds like at some point you got it checked again.
