Miserable Waiting For Test

I am being tested for celiac next week Tuesday and I am absolutely MISERABLE on my gluten filled diet. Before scheduling the test I was about 95% gluten free and feeling OK--going back to gluten full time is horrible. Pain, bloating, D, heartburn, tiredness, brain fog, anxiety, depression, can't sleep--I've got it all. I know you all have been there, I really just need to vent. In my brain right now, it doesn't even feel like I'm going to make it until Tuesday. I just burst into tears at my desk at work thinking about dealing with this for several more days. I was dealing with a lot of symptoms with over the counter meds and supplements and I'm not supposed to take any the week leading up to the test and it is making things even worse. My brain is just so messed up right now.

My worst fear is that because I was mostly gluten free for so long that the test won't show that I have celiac. I know I'm giving up gluten after Tuesday regardless, but I would really like the diagnosis. Is it weird to hope for a disease?

were you full on gluten for at least 3 months before this test? If not it could give inaccurate results.

Not weird at all.

No, I have not been full on gluten for 3 months. I've been eating gluten once or twice a week for about the last 6 months (some weeks more, some weeks less) and am doing two weeks of full gluten for the test. I know I may get a false negative but there after a week and a half of full gluten, I know there is no WAY I could do it for 3 months. Oh well.

It sounds like your body is giving you the answer no matter what the tests results are. You may not have been back on full gluten long enough for a positive on the tests but it sounds like you are going to go back to gluten free when the tests are done. Do be sure to be strict about it when all testing is done. As you are finding out after being gluten free or low gluten the symptoms can be worse. I hope you recover quickly.

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
