OK so I have test strips from Rapid Response....earlier today my test strips showed bright yellow/orangey color for the billirubin on these strips but...that color didn't match anything on the comparison chart....one test showed i had nothing and wasn't yellow.....

Later on i drank more water to go again and test again...because i hadn't been drinking much water the past couple days....and i needed to anyhow...so my urine went from being a little more yellow to a little more diluted. Can this affect the results? I mean...will billirubin show up regardless of how much water you drank? I mean so many people drink a ton of water before they go to the doctor for a urine sample so i figured it wouldn't hurt? the other difference was I used a damp cloth to clean off around the urethra in case that was affecting it....all i know is i did multiple tests one after the other i stuck them in the cup...a bunch of them and not one is yellowy now? I'm not sure which result I should trust?

In november I had my blood levels taken of various liver enzymes...all within normal ranges.....maybe i'm worrying for nothing? Does billirubin dilute with water or take time to build up in the urine?

I'm going to retest when i get up but...this has been causing me anxiety because my fecal fat from enterolab mentioned liver stuff and i just know i have gluten sensitivity i dunno if i need to definitely have celiacs to have fecal fat above 300?

That being said my husbands fecal fat was twice mine and so far he had no billirubin show up so....

I dunno..just trying to make sure it's just gluten probs causing the fat score heh..thoughts?

My previous PCP ( I fired her ) told me my elevated bilirubins were normal , nothing to be concerned about. But the day I turned jaundices and went to the ER I decided not to listen to her

My GI doc suggested that for me it may be gilbert's syndrome because my liver enzymes are still at a reasonable level but we are watching them closely.

I've already read to death about it....but...one of those links said to not eat or drink for 4 hours before a test..does that include water? I also read fasting can cause ir on one of the links..i just got over feeling sick for the most part and not been eating as much as i should..could that effect it then?

Alright i had something to eat....i have a doctors appointment scheduled for 4:30 and usually takes about a half hour to get in....so hopefully at least 4 hours will have passed by the time they test me for anything as i ate and you are not suppose to eat within 4 hours. Is water allowed? they said no drink either on pages i've read.

Very scared right now...

I just got back from the doc and he felt around my abdomen..didn't feel anything weird and asked me if it hurt....i always feel a little uncomfy having my abdomen pressed on but nothing hurt at all. There was a trace small amount of billirubin in my urine he said but he thinks at worse it's probably gilberts syndrome. He said starvation (i think? and i haven't been eating much the past couple days) and stress (i've been pretty stressed) can cause slightly elevated levels? I mean he said it was apparently VERY slight. So i dunno...he's sending me for a full abdomenal ultrasound which i think should show something even if it's autoimmune as i guess they'd see the damage? i dunno... he and the nurse both felt that damage causing that probably wouldn't come on so quickly...my levels in november 2011 were great. which is why he feels gilberts could be what might be happening if anything which he says is not life threatening and is just something that happens sometimes. I mean..i know i COULD have had this my whole life...i mean..i've never tested billirubin on my own before so i have nothing to compare it to. I'm still a little scared but...i would guess if it was stones he'd prably of felt SOMETHING? hell..i should have if i had them but i didn't feel a thing so who knows.
