Welcome! It sounds suspicious for sure for Celiac. Do you have a Doctor? You should go and get a complete Celiac blood panel. Report back us. Hope you get to the bottom soon.
-
I got burned this weekend at Cheescake where the server informed me that the Manager himself is Celiac!! The server was oh so reassuring, but I got veggies cooked in pasta water. Sooooo ALWAYS ask for the MANAGER. This is what I have learned.
-
Will I hope you can sift through the dribble and find the "gems" in here. There are quite a few.
-
I notice that the banana splits are gluten free.
-
Im gonna steer this back to Will's issue. How bout if you find yourself stuck at a restaurant like Denny's you order some "whole fruit". Most places have bananas, apples, etc. whole. Bananas are great as they do not even need to be washed. Eggs are another great choice if you tolerate them. If you can do dairy ask for a banana and a glass of milk. They are also likely to have some plain yogurt which you could add the fruit and some honey to. If you tolerate peanuts, ask if they have peanut butter and then ask to see the container so you can read the ingredients. This would work with the fruit too. And hey...Denny's actually has a gluten free list: Denny's Website: www.dennys.com Phone: 864-597-7396 Email: Notes: Please be aware that vendors and product formulations may change. If necessary, product labels are available. Nutritional/Allergin information located at: Open Original Shared Link The list contains most of the gluten free menu items as well as some of the non-gluten free items. The following items are considered gluten free based on the information provided by the restaurant. Food Gluten Free? French Fries Yes Hashed Browns Yes Mashed Potatoes No Seasoned Fries No Buffalo Sauce Yes Cranberry Sauce Yes Au Jus No BBQ Sauce No Cocktail Sauce No Heinz 57 Sauce No Marinara Sauce Yes Sweet Hickery Spread No Tartar Sauce Yes Scampi Yes Sausage Crumbles Yes Sausage Patties Yes Sausage Links No Broccoli Chedder Soup Yes Vegetable Beef Soup No Clam Chowder No Sour Cream Yes Strawberries Yes Maple Syrup, Diet Yes Tortilla Chips Yes Sliced & Shaved Turkey Yes Talapia Yes Whipped Topping Yes Ketchup Yes Applesauce Yes Bacon Strips Yes Banana Split Yes Beef Patty Yes Roast Beef Slices No Hot Chocolate Yes Apple Juice Yes Orange Juice Yes Blueberry topping Yes Butter Yes American Processed Cheese (sliced) Yes Shredded Cheese Yes Cottage Cheese Yes Cream Cheese Yes Parmesan Cheese Yes Swiss Cheese Yes Scrambles Eggs Yes Egg Beaters Yes Sliced Ham Yes Shaved ham Yes Chocolate Ice Cream Yes Butter Pecan Ice Cream No Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Yes Strawberry Ice Cream Yes Vanilla Ice Cream Yes 2% milk Yes Buttermilk No Mustard Yes Nut Topping Yes Pickles Slices Yes Baked Potato Yes

That is the thing with beating a dead horse...it never complains.....

If you have enough forthought to carry your Glutenese pills, you can think ahead and pack food to eat too so you are NEVER stranded. Nuts and Dried Fruit for instance dont need refrigeration and can be kept in your car. And if a "rural deserted area" has a Denny's, then I can GUARANTEE that they also have a grocery store. Geez! Just carrying the pills and "hoping for the best" is EXTREMELY irresponsible for your health. I couldnt use the word I wanted to use.
-
Also, we all heal at varying speeds. Some get immediate relief while others have to keep at it 100% for a year or more. Without tests, you will have to commit to gluten-free living for at least a year.
-
Well it would be difficult to know who has gotten "hurt" by using Glutanease if they are Celiac because the "hurt" could manifest as cancer years later.
-
You should be tested NOW. Keep eating gluten and get a blood test for Celiac. It could be Celiac. But if you stop eating gluten, it can skew your tests.
-
You will likely find MORE and BETTER information in this forum than with a doctor. But you can look for one. Hopefully someone will chime in in your area. Not everyone has to worry about make up. Basically if it can get into your mouth, you should make sure it is gluten-free. For instance, I only paint my toenails and never my fingernails, so I dont worry about polish. I dont eat with my feet.
-
I pray for a benign report. Hope you feel better soon.
-
As long as the product you use is gluten-free and you do not have an intolerance to dairy....you should be fine.
-
What a beautiful little boy. I am an adult, but I wanted to tell you that I lost about 5 lbs in the first month of gluten-free. Weight I did NOT need to lose!! And I was STARVING all of the time....eating everything I could. Im still too thin. But I have gained that 5 back in the last 6 weeks. I am on month 4. I hope this helps.

Thanks Jenny. I figured I could up them. I used to take the Renew Life probiotics, but nixed them when I cut out rice (and all grains cuz they have rice flour in them).
-
		(1) that your doctor told you told to do because you're due for a biopsy confirming your diagnosis; or (2) while at a restaurant, you have no choice but to order the dish containing the smallest amount of wheat, barley, or rye AND are going to take Gluten-ease or Gluten Defense pill with your meal. I dont recommend either of these. Your already have your Dx and even the "smallest amount" can damage you. Gluten-ease and Gluten Defense are not for Celiacs and there is no evidence/studies or proof that they will protect your body from damage. Bad idea!!

Just curious what you guys consider "HEAVY" probiotics? I think this is a relevant question for this thread. I tried a probiotic a few weeks ago that had 250 BILLION colony forming units. And after a few days, I was miserable. I was bloated like a 6 month pregnant woman. I had shortness of breath I was so bloated. Gas ex didnt touch it. I quit taking it. So now I am on an acidophilus sporogene 1.5 billion CFU am and Acidophilus/Bifidum 5 Billion CFU pm. So a total of 6.5 Billion CFU. I am feeling fine with them. No bloating, D, etc. Is HEAVY use more than this?

Someday I hope they cure "auto-immune" diseases period. I believe Genetic therapy will be the key. I support stem cell research. I may get bashed for saying it. But I do.

Strawberries can be grown in wheat "hay". There is a slight chance of cc, but not everyone reacts. I think if you wash them very good it is no worry. Or look for FL strawberries...it doesnt get cold enough here for them to use that wheat as insulation.

It is tuff for sure!! You do need some FAT though and it will help with cravings and temptation. A growing man needs some FAT. Eggs are good and so are nuts. I made the Pamela's brownies this weekend and everyone loved them. Some of the mixes are quite good and anyone could bake them. Just tell us what you like and we can tell you what is tasty.

I am the best doctor I have. I have no problem discussing my issue with others. I know it affects me. The diet is proof enough for me. If you have a cold, do you feel weird telling others you are sick? Do you need a doctor to dx the cold? No? You know your body better than anyone else.

On the Alfalfa...I would do 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off so you dont develop an intolerance to it.
