  1. I remember beginning to have reactions from accidents after the forth day gluten free. Symptoms are great things, because they are such great deterrents. My reactions did seem to be more and more extreme until recently. I think it is easier to tell when something is off, when one is feeling better. There was a time I just felt awful all of the time. ...
  2. Pain can be a symptom of celiac along with 299 other symptoms. I am pretty sure one of these symptoms is mouth sores, . Many of the symptoms can be reversed by following a totally gluten free diet; I am feeling much better after at least 30 years of undiagnosed symptoms. The link is a list of known possible symptoms. Open Original Shared Link You...
  3. I am currently basically eating paleo and it seems to be going fairly well. I didn't have pain, but still deal with some bloating. Mine all seems to have to do with other allergies.
  4. My big concern is other allergies. I don't have any bread like thing left. I have been recently making some yummy wraps with coconut flour and eggs. The hardest thing for me is having to call up companies and needing to opt our or take some risk. I can't always decide if it is okay if the factory has some chocolate in it.
  5. A diagnosis might help other people believe you really have celiac like unsupportive family members or friends. They may decide to get tested. For that reason I sometimes wish I had done more than a genetic test right away. I felt unable to do a gluten challenge, so I haven't wished to eat gluten again. It sounds like you have celiac in your family, so...
  6. Perhaps you have an allergy to gluten/wheat and such. If you do, the smell can cause a reaction as it does me. You may be able to stay in your room with a mask during any baking. Possibly use an air filter of some kind and any other precautions you can think of.
  7. I am sure glad Brain Fog and fatigue and I are no longer inseparable friends. Dee
  8. So sorry, I know what you mean! Live and learn. Dee
  9. I think you did the right thing by asking for a second opinion and I hope that the next doctor will listen. Best wishes Dee
  10. Welcome! A celiac diagnosis can be overwhelming for a while. But you are doing the right thing; you are learning about it. You can learn how to do the diet, and in time you can lose your symptoms! A long healthy life is possible if you avoid gluten. I think living with the diet is much easier than living without it. Best wishes for your healing...
  11. A GI doctor told me that an endoscopy (with 6-10 samples) takes them 10 minutes when done in addition to a colonoscopy. It seems to make sense to me that one would combine the two. I hope it will be very SOON for your sake. Make sure the doctor knows what they are doing. I was told the endoscopy looks at the upper digestive track: throat, stomach and...
  12. My functional medicine nurse told me that calcium can make celiac worse. I don't have more details about that, but perhaps you could look into it. Also, are you also taking magnesium, which If I got it right is needed to use with calcium? I would consider other food allergies. Make sure that your supplements are free of gluten and anything artificial...
  13. I am so glad you were able to get help and wish you the very best in healing. Dee
  14. Have you checked or considered High fructose corn syrup, or corn in general. Allergies sometimes don't appear every contact. Dee
  15. These ideas are intended for Jumping Juniper, who has been gluten free a long while and currently is having difficulties. I don't think everyone needs to follow such an aggressive program. I deleted symptoms I do not share. Occasionally I feel this touch sensitivity you mention, the rest of the time I am numb. My chiropractor told me it is neuropathy...
  16. I am happy to hear this report! It does take work, but it is SO GOOD to feel better. Hopefully, you will feel more consistently better as you go on. Enjoy the highs, and hang on through the lows knowing they don't last forever. Actually my lowest lows use to give way to the highest highs. Now I have more consistent feeling good to great with fewer low...
  17. I had 4 days of great bliss after going gluten free followed by trouble. I now think it was due to cross contamination of things I was using for the family. It also likely was cleanout. Hang on, learn as you are trying to do. My lowest lows have often been followed by my highest highs. Don't give up! Dee
  18. Welcome, Oh, wow, just celiac starts out overwhelming at first! I hope you will have some down time to cope with all the pains. I hope you will be brought through and overcome the struggles. Dee
  19. Gastroscopy, are they looking at your "upper digestive tract" with that? I recently had endoscopy (upper digestive track) and colonoscopy. I remember nothing after they gave me the sedatives until I woke up. The prep work is the hardest. count on spending time in the bathroom. I set up a video in there, but possibly some of your favorite music would...
  20. Sorry to say it often happens that doctors tell a person not to eat gluten without realizing it can invalidate the tests. We have seen it many times. I think the best thing to do is what you are doing. Educate yourself the best that you can. Find a doctor (could be the one you have now) that will listen to you or information you bring in. Get whatever...
  21. Hi, I have similar issues with antibodies to nearly all the foods I had been eating. I finally side stepped this by eating other things. Now, I am trying to use N.A.E.T to stop my brain from sending the alarm about these good foods. I will let you know over time if I get to return to eating them without the antibody problem. I see what you mean...
  22. I think the two often go together from being on here and reading. There are more tests for thyroid than just TSH. My TSH is normal, but some other numbers are out of whack. From my memory, with the possibility of missing a test, here are the tests one can use to check thyroid: TSH T3 T4 Reverse T3 Reverse T4 Thyroid Antibodies An endocrinologist...
  23. I don't know..... I have neuropathy in the form of numbness pretty much everywhere. There have been times it lessoned, and it isn't at its worse level of all times, but is pretty thickly numb now. I have read it has to vitamin B, but vitamin B didn't seem to help me get rid of it. I know time for healing is needed. One person said their problem cleared...
  24. I am recovering from 30+ years of celiac damage which had been undiagnosed until nearly 3 years back. I think that one can actually fare better than people without the disease, because we are motivated and learn to make changes in our diet to preserve our health. Making a few mistakes early on in learning, help to assure and reinforce the need for absolute...
