  1. I wish I had the answer to this as I have asked on a few occasion, but haven't figured it out. I suspect that I had been deficient in both. Dee
  2. While you wait for your testing (and continue your current gluten diet) you could study up on changes to make as you go gluten free. Find a gluten free multi vitamin, take probiotics, and possibly begin some digestive enzymes. Don't change your diet, but taking note now of what will need to change will help the transition to go more smoothly. The biopsy...
  3. Best wishes for your healing. My leg pain got worse when I went gluten free, but after a while went away for ever. Dee
  4. Sounds like you are doing well. Keep up the good work. I had a stubborn protruding abdomen and mine had to do with other allergies and histamine so far as I can tell. It finally is going down after I cut out all foods I had antibodies to. It does tend to get larger again when I am exposed to anything I have allergies to. I hope you can get to the bottom...
  5. Is there some reason to believe you would ever have serious doubts? Would someone very near (in the house) have serious doubts which could cause you trouble for you or them? Would you qualify for tax advantages or other advantages if you had a celiac diagnosis? Personally I thought for me the gluten challenge would be unethical, because I perceived my...
  6. You might try some different meats. I am using elk, bison, duck, yak, and alpaca. If I could not eat eggs, I would put one of these in my tiny crock pot each night, so breakfast protein would be easy. My diet recommends 3-5 oz protein foods each meal at least 3 times per day. You might look into digestive enzymes to help you break down your foods while...
  7. Do they use air fresheners at work?
  8. Best wishes for healing! Dee
  9. Have you had your Ferritin levels checked? I had this "pressure" in my head until my ferritin levels came up.
  10. I am glad to hear you are recovering and happy to hear the good report! Dee
  11. My abdomen grew unusually large when I was sick. I was mistaken for pregnant several times. My tummy remained bloated until I removed all foods I did not tolerate.
  12. Even though colonoscopy won't diagnose celiac, if you contact the GI doctor early, you may be able to add an endoscopy to your colonoscopy and do them at once. My doctor said the endoscopy only takes about 10 additional minutes. Dee
  13. The functional Medicine doctor I work with uses l-glutamine as part of his plan for gut healing. One friend of mine felt it healing when she took it. I took it too late in the process to notice much, but my bloating seemed to be helped. It gave me no adverse effects.
  14. Fellow Homeschooler, Is your daughter totally convinced she should not eat gluten? Will she stay convinced for life? Are any family members unconvinced that play a key role in family life? I would think if you and your family members are totally convinced you would not have to test. However, if you ever decided to put her in school or hospital it could...
  15. I am eating to appetite and my weight is dropping.
  16. 50 % false positives is pretty sad. I am now seeing skin rashes, burning/itching skin and diarrhea with foods I once thought could have false positive on IgG food antibody tests. Even my family can see these rashes. Dee
  17. You express this so well. I have had many of the same thoughts since I went gluten free. I hope you will get a definite diagnosis. Brain fog and fatigue were my most dreaded and profound symptoms. My immediate family had trouble believing me and my doctors. They also came around and said that I did need to be gluten free. I didn't have much GI stuff...
  18. I had some testing for food intolerances that were very helpful for me. Genova Lab Food intolerances tests. I have written about it several times on my blog. At any rate I got skeptical about my results and went back to rotation of the foods I had antibodies too. Eventually my health practitioner warned me that I should withdraw them, but since I didn...
  19. Try short blasts of power. I keep my almonds in the freezer. I grind them in a food processor. I recently made the mistake of putting only a cup in there and ended up with too coarse of flour. In a blender, I have sometimes had trouble grinding nuts if I put more than l cup of nuts in. I haven't recently had trouble turning almonds to nut butter accidently...
  20. I am happy the diagnosis was made and you could take the child gluten free. Best wishes for total healing. Dee
  21. Sometimes I say that I look like the Pillsbury Doughboy!
  22. Yes, even in salt. After I realized that magnesium stearate (used to keep salt from clumping, I believe) is an issue for me. I read the label to make sure all I am getting is salt. These days I get, "Real Salt." I have also been known to purchase sea salt, but one still must watch the label if they don't want anti-caking agents. Don't forget if you get...
  23. My family gave me extreme grief at first. I felt like they would choose gluten over me. They didn't believe I had a serious problem. I felt so alone. We stuck it out and they watched me and now (2 years gluten free) they have seen enough to believe me. By seen a lot I mean they saw my eye twitching, body swelling, and spent one painful evening in a hotel...
  24. I have been able to find wild rice which is not processed with wheat. It is a high cost product, though. I would also check with the producer to ask about any other products they process. You could switch for some time (elimination diet) and try other rice again. Eczema is tricky. There is always the possibility that more than one food causes it....
