  1. I hope you will have definitive diagnosis and good advise as you go on. Please don't give up. I too went through 30 years of symptoms. I came out of it with many food intolerances, but layer by layer I am figuring out how to turn things around, and I expect you will be able to do this with time. Some people never do have a positive celiac diagnosis, but...
  2. Concentrate on some new foods. I discovered problems with 49 of 60 foods that I ate regularly. Now I avoid them all and am thinking it is doing good. You can look up new meats, vegetables and fruits in Wicopedia or something. I found that many of the vegetables listed I had never heard of. Now, all I have to do is find them at the store! I have found...
  3. Jesika Beth, how about an update? I hope all is well. Dee
  4. My functional medicine nurse said that low iron levels are often a very early indicator of celiac. I am curious about this and wonder if anyone has tried reversing it with diet. It is hard when the antibody tests are negative. I have a daughter that tested negative for celiac, but her ferritin level was 6. If everyone in the family has the same diet,...
  5. A nephew of mine had an intestinal blockage years ago. When I read up on celiac I saw that they are linked. I hope you will get some definitive testing and some relief.
  6. I felt that way for years ready to do anything to get rid of the spaced out, foggy mind, and fatigue at any price. I found it! I hope you will too. Dee
  7. I found using nuts for flour expensive, but soon learned my family needed much less food. I think everyone's digestion worked a bit more efficiently. I would certainly agree with making things from scratch. My major concern is being in control of what goes into it.
  8. You say you are on vacation? Did you try eating out? It does sound possible you got some gluten, but could be too just your body making some response to the new diet. It is difficult at first, but if you keep walking in the right direction, you are bound to make progress! Dee
  9. The same gene that is linked to celiac is linked also with diabetes, I believe. When I did a gene test they asked about the families history of diabetes. I have heard my functional medicine nurse comment on a genetic link between the two. Dee
  10. Follow up. I asked the GI doctor to look at some nutrient tests that I had done and tell me if it looked like celiac could have caused the Mal-absorption and later increase in absorption and nutrient levels. However, she doesn't do nutrient tests, so could not. She believe my best proof of having celiac disease stemmed out of my totally positive genetic...
  11. The details of your endoscopy report sounded to me they might possibly indicate celiac disease, but perhaps it is the SIBO?. Possibly you could get a second opinion somewhere. The first stage of celiac includes lymphocyte response and some inflammation is likely. I know that other problems can cause inflammation there. They mention the villi which begin...
  12. You asked if I was diagnosed after a challenge. No, because I could not submit to eating gluten for any amount of time. My best proof of having celiac is my genetic test which showed 4/4 gene copies for celiac! Anyone else?
  13. Thanks, My son came over and ran a different scan which found 96 threats and deleted them! My scan found 0!
  14. Best wishes to you in this. I am so glad you have decided on a new job, but can still do what you love to do! If I ever find a kind of bread like thing I can eat again, I would send you the recipe! I use to work in a bakery right before I got Mono and my 30 years of celiac symptoms. I currently don't know of a bread type that I can eat. Maybe some vegetable...
  15. Buy a bunch of kale from the store or pick it in the garden. Wash if needed. Shred off the leafy parts in bite size pieces and toss with a tablespoon of olive oil. Sprinkle the top and bottom of the leaves with salt. Place in 250 oven for 15 minutes. Leave them another 10-15 minutes or until dry and crispy. Alternative ideas: I like Swiss chard...
  16. I remember feeling both upset and relieved when I got my diagnosis. I was sorry my diet needed to change again, but so glad that my health should improve and that symptoms were not just something I made up. My symptoms did improve and my energy level came up; I hope all of the same for you. Dee
  17. I have a similar diet. Problems with rice and corn. You might look at paleo or SCD diet. The GI doctor just mentioned Foodmaps and I thought it was remarkable that it is similar to what I have come to use. I suggest trying to add as much as possible to your diet. I eat odd vegetables such as kohlrabi, spinach, jicama. I make kale chips and really enjoy...
  18. There is nothing like celiac and children to make a mild person turn into a Tiger fighting for what is healthy and right! I have been coming to grips with needing to protect myself and my family, and also doing a lot of studying on my own. I like the way you are searching and think that it will help your family. I actually have now told myself that it...
  19. I can eat eggs, but not chicken, so I don't think the two have to run together. If I had trouble with chicken eggs I would most certainly try quale, duck, or goose eggs to substitute. Surprisingly chicken eggs is one of my very best foods that I ate when I was sick and still tolerate. We raise our own chickens, feed them organic and free range them. However...
  20. I would keep considering this. If other family members are not deficient on the same diet, something could be causing trouble for this one member. The functional Medicine Nurse I work with says that low iron and or ferritin is often the very first indication that celiac is wrong. I had a diet high in iron, but was low also. You might consider further nutritional...
  21. I believe you. I think that my Functional Medicine Nurse uses diet with autism. I realize that one of my family members would get hyperactive due to diet, while I seemed to get depressed from the foods that made this family member active. These are mind responses, I think. Not sure I can relate to or shed light on the whole story, but that is my two bits...
  22. Can you define "Fresh lesion"? Also adjacent would mean right next to current sore? Is that hoping that whatever caused the disturbance would be there also? I would appreciate it if you know any answers. My whole family would likely have to be said to be gluten light since no gluten is in our kitchen. Quite possibly, though, at various times family...
  23. Is it true you need to do the biopsy on a fresh patch? I whisked one daughter in to have her rash tested right away. I was told you can test the rash ANY time. I also was told that Celiac Disease is a GI DISEASE! We were told to put lotion on her "dry skin". During the day it did rather look like dry skin,. It looked like eczema in the evenings. In...
  24. Welcome Ele! Allergy to wheat is treated the same way as celiac, one does an elimination diet. You can help lean about the diet and find people who can understand your struggles here. You can improve your English as you read also! I am also two years gluten free.
  25. I have been planning to go for fruits and vegetables, but their just are not very many of those in my area. Minneapolis, St. Paul, and St. Cloud, MN have some, but I always run, run, run doing errands when I am there. I have heard that Thai products don't have gluten. My family developed a taste for dried seaweed. Two daughters came back from South...
