ARCHIVED Non-Diabetic Reactive Hypo
1desperateladysaved replied to robinamicrowave's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You can help keep your blood sugar as stable as possible by avoiding sweets. Even fruit juice has a great deal of natural sugar, so I avoid it. Have bites of fruit rather than whole fruits. Have protein and good fat (olive oil, coconut oil, or butter if tolerated) with every meal. These things I have used to help stabilize my blood sugar. I would get... -
ARCHIVED Shortness Of Breath
1desperateladysaved replied to sidelined's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When my low ferritin improved, it made a huge difference with breathing. I had short breath so long that I was use to it. When I started to breath deeper, it freaked me out! Wow! This is what breathing feels like! It gives me energy! Dee -
ARCHIVED Calming Intestines?
1desperateladysaved replied to BeckyW's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
When I have cramping, a warm water bottle on my belly can help sooth it. I also use helichrysum essential oil a couple of drops rubbed in over the area. Dee -
ARCHIVED Food Sensitivity Test Results - Today!
1desperateladysaved replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am excited for you. I do believe the tests are helpful. Mine were. Just make sure to find other foods to eat. You can eat things untested, though personally I would try to avoid any that you frequently ate that weren't tested. I am glad you discovered the yeast issue. I have that one too. I have successfully made muffins with nut flour, eggs... -
ARCHIVED Lots Of Questions
1desperateladysaved replied to beth01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Go to the seed store, if you garden, or to the grocery store and pick foods you have never tried. These you should not be allergic too. In the produce aisle, I found fennel bulb, which has a light licorice flavor. It looks a little like an onion with green feathery plume on top. One new one I picked up is Jicama. It looks like a white ball covered with... -

ARCHIVED Did Your Vitamin D Levels Go Up?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Did you lose any weight? I haven't. My weight is in the acceptable range. The article sighted seems to be saying that fat cells can occlude its usefulness in the body, if I get it right. I tried to read the whole article, but it kept returning me to page 1. I did note that sunscreen blocks out the rays that our body makes it from. I haven't used sunscreen... -
ARCHIVED Digestive/urinary Problems
1desperateladysaved replied to Francis's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did you begin taking any vitamins? Vitamin B colors the urine more yellow. I know this from personal experience and speaking with a doctor about it. Have you been tested for celiac? There are over 300 symptoms and some of yours may be a fit. Welcome! Dee -

ARCHIVED Did Your Vitamin D Levels Go Up?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I asked my nurse if vitamin D needs to be absorbed by the small intestine. She didn't think so, it went right to the blood stream. Maybe one needs more vitamin D when they have celiac untreated? Any other ideas? Why would levels go up when one isn't supplemented? -
ARCHIVED Minimisation By Family/friends.
1desperateladysaved replied to Chrissie32's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, I think that if you haven't been through it, you just can't relate or be very helpful. Even the thoughts above included people getting it because they are watching it happen. My family thought I was just trying to be super-healthy. After two years they seem to be finally coming to grips with my desperate needs. It helps to find friends that are struggling... -
Fennel gives me energy when I eat it. Fennel is a vegetable bulb that you can find in the produce section. There is also fennel seed in the spice department. I have made fennel cookies with it. It has a light licorice taste. I would be cautious in regular use of fennel, because I think that it has natural occurring steroids. Salmon gives me energy...

ARCHIVED Changing Reaction, Normal?
1desperateladysaved replied to CajunChic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know all of the answers. From personal experience, though, I can say that my reactions have changed over time. Also, I wonder if anyone else at the restaurant got sick. You may of got some food poisoning. My body has become more and more sensitive, but my health providers are still hoping that my body will relax about it after it is healed up... -
I had 30 years of symptoms, (starting after mono, by the way). Also, beginning with painless bloating. I just have to say the quality of life had disappeared for me. I couldn't stand up without feeling like I would crash. Somehow I dragged through it, but I hated my life. I would do practically anything to get better including not eating cake and ice...

ARCHIVED So Frustrated With Doctors, Tests, And Food!
1desperateladysaved replied to elless's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have a wonder, perhaps someone could answer it. Well, they didn't test my breath for dairy at the GI doctor, because I wasn't eating it for a long time. So, were you eating dairy, and DOES IT MATTER? Dee -

ARCHIVED Carry-On Dinner While Flying?
1desperateladysaved replied to christianmom247's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Hard boiled eggs can be easily carried in an egg carton. You can bring canned meat such as salmon or chicken. Make sure it has a pull tab. Also pull it out of your bag before they search it. They will be interested in what is in a metal container in your bag. Dee -
ARCHIVED Letter From Dentist To Dental Patient With Ai Suspicions What Should It Say?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Doctors
Yes, I agree about verifying the information. Maybe I will present it as my dream letter, so neither of us feel so on the spot about it. I already have given him the write up that tooth enamel loss and celiac are linked. He is looking for it, he saw it in me, BUT somehow understanding didn't take place. It grieves me all of the dental lectures I have... -
ARCHIVED Letter From Dentist To Dental Patient With Ai Suspicions What Should It Say?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Doctors
Dear Dental Patient: You have lost the enamel off of your teeth. Sometimes this may indicated a disease called celiac. Celiac disease is an auto-immune problem in which the small intestine (Intended to absorb nutrients) is broken down by contact with a substance found in staple foods. This can cause mal-nutrition even in a well nourished person. Some classic... -

ARCHIVED Letter From Dentist To Dental Patient With Ai Suspicions What Should It Say?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Doctors
Oh, I got the idea from seeing information on this sight that dental problems can indicate celiac disease. There is said to be a movement to instruct dentists to inform patients in this matter. If I would have received a message like this, I may have been tested or diagnosed 5 years earlier. My dentist is brilliant and is very into wholestic dentistry... -
ARCHIVED Letter From Dentist To Dental Patient With Ai Suspicions What Should It Say?

About 8 years ago my dentist told me that people with so many teeth problems usually have an AI disease. Well, I didn't know what he meant and didn't look it up. I was too tired. I was about to do something for my health anyway. I felt like I was falling apart from the inside out. Anyway, tomorrow I am going to see this dentist and would like to show... -
ARCHIVED Did Your Vitamin D Levels Go Up?
1desperateladysaved replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would like to know the answer to Fruit Enthusiast's question whether vitamin D is better absorbed with anything in particular. I am having more doctors analyze how much I should be taking. I guess it somewhat would depend on whether my levels have risen. I guess I got my sunshine today! All winter, though, I only stuck my face in the sun. If one could... -

Hmmmm I seem to have lost a post so I am sorry if it is here twice. My 33 was within normal, but it was on the border. My nurse felt I should be midrange. I am not sure what units were being used, perhaps later I can look it up. Dee
