  1. I think that I didn't feel a problem when I added one food at a time. However, over time I noticed that I was bloating and swelling more. I am currently thinking that if you are eating one thing you don't tolerate, your body may not give you a decisive reaction. I do really feel that we all should eat as large diversity of food groups as we can. What...
  2. I have tests only from a year back, so I think I am due. October 2012: 30 June 2013 33 (have gone up more by now) Going up 3 points isn't very impressive to me. Anyone else have some scores? Dee.
  3. Home is my favorite place to exercise! At home I do the trampoline every other day for 10 minutes. Run up and down the stairs about 20 times a day. Cook 3 meals from scratch for 8 people. I also shop for the family. In the summer I garden, in the winter I play ping pong and badmitten. I do exercises recommended for my back by my chiropractor, and 2...
  4. When I got my diagnosis I told my extended family of it. They didn't believe it. I sent it in writing, so they could look it over. Then I felt I had done my part to warn them. I tried to keep it light when we had our first family meal. I warned them in advance by sending an e-mail message. I said that I regretted not being able to eat their food...
  5. I am doing a stool test which checks for digestive enzymes to see if I need them anymore. I had to be off for 4 days, so far so good. It will be interesting to see what comes from it.
  6. We planted watermelon. Radishes and lettuce are nearly ready to start eating. Carrots are coming up. I found several seeds today, kohlrabi, bok choy, argula for me to eat. It feels kind of overwhelming a whole big garden, but most of it I can't eat! Beans peas tomatoes peppers broccoli cauliflower I can't eat Beets, spinach brussel srouts, asparagus...
  7. I grew skeptical about the food intolerance tests for a while. But when I added the foods back in, even in rotation, I gained back some of my inflammation. I have been off (again) for about a week and seem to be deflating again. It is really complicated. The more I consider seriously having just the placebo effect, I really do not think so. I use to...
  8. Out to garden today. That will give some sun and exercise. I also am continuing my trampoline every other day. My sense of extreme transition is continuing. I am doing vitamin D and magnesium supplements. My calcium levels have been good, but possibly that will be reconsidered depending on the results. I have been having my actual levels of nutrients...
  9. You can have the genetics without the symptoms or noticeable damage, . A trigger even often comes before symptoms are apparent. Some people chose to eat gluten free when they discover they have the genes and some wait for symptoms to appear first. You can decide what is right for you. Please do watch for any of the 300 symptoms if you chose to eat gluten...
  10. Umm, I am more into organic (thanks to celiac, no doubt) than anyone I know. I own an organic farm. We mostly grow our own food. Today finds me with a huge planting project and feeling fine! Dee
  11. I had been doing rotational for a long time. I just cook supper and use left-overs for lunch the next day. As I understand it, one can eat each food for 24 hours and then go on. Having leftovers for lunch helps to make it easier. I also have a 30 day plan on the refrigerator. All I need to do is to look and I know what will be made that day. It took...
  12. I am going through similar issues. My current tactic is to stop eating everything I had an antibody too, and not tested items that I had eaten frequently. I am trying to eat all "New Foods." My meats include lamb, bison, elk, and yak. My vegetables include jicama, watercress, kohlrabi, and spinach. One could make a 4 day rotation with the new foods...
  13. My functional Medicine nurse feels my swelling is because my gut is not healed yet. Oh, I did an elimination diet before and that is when my mind cleared and my ferritin levels improved. I added many things back in and though it seemed okay, it didn't work out. I agree to some extent about the GI doctor, I am using her for assessing problems, but...
  14. Anyone if the tech person is aware of the results of the test. Anyone had a technician that talked about the results? I didn't expect a glowing report, so nothing would surprise me. Waiting for the results is often the hard part. Too bad I didn't check my bone density right away or years back. I feel sure that I have already improved it some, but who knows...
  15. Hey Lisa, I am just about 2 years into non-gluten living. In the years before that I had figured out several foods not to eat. I ate pretty much every vegetable available at the grocery store when I was really sick. I don't think much of avoiding cake, but avoiding squash is just weird. I feel great, but it really is a good thing that I like dresses...
  16. I have brought canned meat on planes. Make sure it has a pull tab. One word to the wise, pull it out and show it right away at the scanner. Otherwise they will pull apart your bag and be looking for what metal is in there and leave you to get everything back into it. I have also taken hard boiled eggs and muffins.
  17. I have done the IgG food intolerance testing and felt it was a real help to me. It tests the blood for antibodies to foods that you are eating. You must be eating the foods to be a valid test. I also have used a rotational diet to help find foods I don't tolerate. You might try new meats and new vegetables, that you hadn't eaten over the years that you...
  18. So glad you have a doctor that listens and got to the diagnosis! Dee
  19. Have you ever noticed that they usually only take the pressure in one arm? Well, the other day a nurse took the pressure in my left arm and found it quite low. Days later a different nurse check my right arm which was dangerously high. I realized that this high number was much different than I get at home. As I puzzled over it, I realized the pressures...
  20. Hi Nicole, Are you swollen? I know of a test for this. Fold your fingertips up against the base of your fingers. If they touch flat against themselves, they are not swollen, but it they don't reach they are swollen. Try looking up the lymph system. There are many nodes in the groin. I am having swelling (but not joint pain). I removed all of the...
  21. I never liked onions anyway! So, it is one of the things that I am glad to say good-bye to.
  22. No need to ask me to see the doctors about this. I have seen more medical people this week than in the last 20 years. My inflammation seems to be subsiding. ,It is nothing new. but I noticed my right thigh bigger than my left. It actually goes further than that. My blood pressure on left is very low. On the right my blood pressure is high. Since...
  23. I have for years limited my fruit to bites rather than full servings. I also take fruit only with meals, never on an empty stomach. It could be the sugar. It could be parasites or yeast. In my case I think that it is likely I don't tolerate the ones I ate with leaky gut.
  24. Oh, I am welling up with tears. Sorry, for your suffering and for the dear babies. . BUT at the same time, I am excited for you. I am glad you made the discovery that cutting out gluten made you feel better. I think a positive IgG test would qualify. I have heard that the home tests are reliable, but someone could correct me if I am wrong...
