  1. I recently started on glutamine to help to heal my leaky gut. I had been experiencing general inflammation and that is what the doctor said to do. Love it when my body gets dramatic. But, my tummy is now shrinking so fast that I don't know how to stand right. I stick out my tummy in order so that it will look "normal" to me, but I give myself a back ache...
  2. I am the Mom of the family, so my situation is a little different. However, my family has begun to note extreme changes in me and have started to listen. I, too, need to talk about it much more than anyone wants to hear about it. I also have several in the family and have talked each of their ears off, except for the two youngest. The forum is a good...
  3. The tests can false negative when a person is not eating gluten. How long was she gluten free? I personally don't know much about the test mentioned above, so I can not interpret it. There are some good reasons to get an endoscopy: To prove to yourself and those around you that you have a measureable problem with gluten. To make sure that you...
  4. I am glad to hear you got your definitive diagnosis and wish all the best for your recovery! Sorry, to hear that you have celiac. I hope you can scrounge up some time to rest and learn what to do. Dee
  5. I can't remember all of your story, but here are some of my ideas: You might try another doctor and see if they will run a whole panel. You might try to get an endoscopy. When all testing is done you can try the final gold standard that is going gluten free and seeing if it helps. Dee.
  6. I lost lemon juice(My last condiment) too and now enjoy saucing mango to use instead. I think other fruits would be useful too. To sauce the mango, one must only peel carefully, place the fruit pieces in a blender, and whirl. Dee
  7. Thanks, I had recently been looking for this list of histamine foods. I printed it off. Dee
  8. Did you have any nutrient levels tested? Many of us have low vitamin B, D and iron/ferritin. My levels were low, but since have come up. D
  9. My tummy experienced more bloating than ever when beginning a gluten free diet. I do have celiac, though. One would wonder if you do. I considered any change in symptoms to be a good sign. We often recommend sticking to basic meals of meat, vegetables, and avoiding processed foods. They can have cross contamination or surprises. You might try this non...
  10. Yeah, have been there and am better! I am back from NOWHERE! D
  11. Keep notes about changes when going gluten free. It could help you to realize progress and support your decision to go gluten free. I hope you will be coming out of the fog soon. D
  12. Corn makes me swell/bloat even more than gluten, I think. Yeah, it is overwhelming looking at the ingredients that can be corn derived. One has to read labels I buy meat straight from farmers, grow my own vegetables, and do canning. If you go to a local farmers market you may find some connections. Ask questions before buying anything. D
  13. I say that I am back from Nowhere. Actually I existed right here. I stayed mostly in a house. Everyday I woke up in the morning and felt as exhausted as when I lay down the night before. Throughout the day I dragged my feet and used my cloudy mind to think of ways to make life seem easy again. I placed my refrigerator on cement blocks. I could reach the lower...
  14. I use to fall asleep between words on my children's spelling test! I do hope you will feel better soon. I hope you will receive the test soon and can get some good help with this. Some take their positive bio-card to a doctor and get help that way. I try to find people with similar symptoms and rescue them. I take that as what your planning with "hoping...
  15. Welcome Shannon, So, sorry you've been bumping along so roughly, but I am feeling excited, because I believe you are on the right track. I have a similar story in several ways. I got into natural foods, so glad now that I can cook from scratch. My husband got tired of hearing about my being tired. Now, after 2 years; his ears are ready to hear! I...
  16. Hi Ember, Rather than a colonscopy, You need an endoscopy while eating gluten to detect celiac. On the mail order test is it a card, what is the brand name? I have heard the name bio-card test. Some people have mentioned that is one they used. I feel for you being in the fog and new to all of this, but I am excited at the same time because I think...
  17. Great Happy Cycling! Just watch out for ice. Or don't you live in the bullseye of the current snow storm as I do?
  18. I don't think it is all in your head. My husband use to feel that way too, but now asks for me to find more answers to my health struggles. Hang in there. It sounds like you are already gluten free and absolutely convinced it is necessary. A very tiny bit of gluten can cause extreme symptoms. YOU are right about that! My major symptoms were as yours...
  19. Great! Are you going to change your name? Cooties lost? conquered cooties? Anyway good work and I am excited for you.
  20. Greetings! Were you eating gluten regularly before the endoscopy? It is possible the gut had healed to some degree, or that the damage was missed. Do you know if your nutrient levels are good? Many people with celiac experience anemia or low vitamins B and D. Look into avoiding all food without gluten and reading every label. Celiac isn't just...
  21. I want you to get definitive answers. There is hope. Pretty much everyone here came to that place when they couldn't keep going. I did , after 30 years of foggy fatigue and bloating. I am happy to say that my mind is clear and I have some energy again. I hope we will hear you telling a similar story in your future! D
  22. Greetings Gena, All of that doesn't sound very fun. I am glad you are planning to do the tests. There are about 5 tests on the celiac panel. I am hoping someone will list them for you. After that one usually has a endoscopy to look for damage in the small intestine. You seem to have a good attitude starting out. It sounds like you are ready for anything...
  23. Hmm, I guess I figure that my count was made by me as I went in to edit. I hadn't noticed this until the last couple of times I blogged. I needed to exit and reenter several times because google wouldn't let me cut and paste.
  24. For now, I don't think I could. I get sick if I sit in a restaurant. I can't eat gluten or corn or eat in a kitchen that uses them. I also have many other intolerances, so what can a restaurant do for me? Give me a socket out back to plug my skillet in?
  25. Some people test negative to the blood tests but have a positive endoscopy. I would suggest you look at the Newbie thread incase you may be missing gluten which causes your symptoms. You should be healed after so long on the diet which means that your endoscopy may be negative if you are not getting enough gluten. You might try moving this to the coping...
