  1. The summer before my diagnosis, I went toward vegetarian and my health declined rapidly. At least I got my diagnosis. I dealt with failing health for years by trying to make my diet as good as possible. I too avoid processed sugar. D
  2. Well, Deekle, I for one am very glad that you learned enough in school to figure out about your gluten intolerance! We need many and all doctors trained to look for it. My daughter is studying anatomy for a biology major and hopes of Med school. Already she came to tell me that Celiac has 300 symptoms. She says the trouble is that when your body doesn...
  3. Keep on trekking Nikki, I am so glad to hear you are improving! D
  4. Welcome Sarah, Most of us started a little overwhelmed. You will discover (at least I did) that there is always something else to eat. My pizza includes nuts flour crust, mango sauce, eggs, and bacon topping! Every time I lost a food, I found others that I liked. I hope that that will happen for you and besides you will feel better and than it is...
  5. I am not sure if you are vegetarian, but if you are, you probably need to take Vitamin B supplements. It is hard to get enough from plants. D
  6. My iron levels improved 12-18 months gluten free. They did initially go down after going gluten free. (I had 30+years of symptoms) I sure hope your iron levels will be helped from the infusion and the other effects soon gone.
  7. Do you mean that you began to add other foods at a year, or ended breastfeeding at a year? I had a child not grow from 6-12 months of age. She evidently just grew at different rates. Most things work out okay, but it sure sounds worth checking into. D
  8. Enzymes have been very useful for me with my celiac. The enzymes help to break down your food until the villi heal enough to do their job of telling the pancreas to fire. My functional medicine nurse has told me this. I would recommend (as one who has been helped by enzymes) looking into enzymes for this purpose and see if they would help you. D
  9. I certainly had some surprising downs on my way. I do think some are from cross contamination, but there were several for me that I never identified. I found that my lowest lows were often followed by my highest highs, so one never knows what will happen next. I do guess that sometimes the body is working on healing and it is awesome to reach a new high...
  10. I hope you can take some down time if and when it hits. I felt this same dread a couple of days ago and thankfully it didn't hit! Keep on reading labels! You will be on the mend again soon. D
  11. I had low ferritin due to mal-absorption. After my diagnosis, my iron levels actually dropped for a while. I dealt with many intolerances. I added digestive enzymes. Between 12-18 months gluten free, my ferritin level came up. I was told that I had Immature red blood cells due to low ferritin. These cells are larger than normal cells, do not carry oxygen...
  12. I hope you will be happy more as you learn and follow your new diet. D
  13. I liked that article. I would have wanted more details about the way they did the study. Who knows how they measured these things in 1932? It sounded so conclusive on absorbing /evaporating at the same rate. It is exciting what all Iodine can do for the body and the fact that it can be absorbed through the skin and get to the blood stream. Thanks...
  14. My story isn't so bad compared to your "take the cake deal." My torment kept me in the bathroom of my family's hotel room for nearly an entire evening. They weren't more than five feet away from me and couldn't help hearing, I am sure. It did seem to stop most of the idea of this just being in my head! I emerged from the bathroom a few times only to dash...
  15. Are you volunteering to do the study?...... I don't think anyone ever will. There just isn't enough money in a 4 dollar bottle of iodine and a q-tip to make it worth their while. Besides of which it shouldn't hurt since the iodine is made for the purpose of putting on skin. I therefore believe the evidence of it working is subjective..
  16. I actually have a daughter taking College anatomy and phisiology now. She has a wealth of information in her books and we have had some interesting conversations. Often times she has just studied out what I ask about. I am sure I would really enjoy a coarse. Infact I am going through and Anatomy book with my youngest children now. I trust Medical doctors...
  17. My evidence is admittedly subjective. There are many alternative practitioners (mine included) that mention the test, but that doesn't always means it works. The Thyroid is supposed to keep the body at normal temperature. My early morning temp. under the arm went from 95.7 (at first check the day before I started iodine, but after I started the patch test...
  18. Thanks, I have been thinking about a beet test. I did have my urine go pink in the past and recently have began to take hcl. If I don't see pink ( the rest of my family do not) it would be amazing!
  19. Great, good work and keep trudging! Are you still transitioning do you think? D
  20. Is hashimotos the one that is auto-immune against the thyroid?
  21. I feel it is difficult both emotionally and physically to clean out my mailbox. I noticed that I can't send a message to GFinDC. I am guessing the box is full. Can we do anything to expand the size of mailboxes, make it easier to delete the mail we don't want, and/or explain to me how you organize your mail?
