  1. Thanks gluten-free in DC, I can't eat iodized salt, because of the corn. (I am NOT saying that it has gluten.) I haven't eaten iodized salt for a long time. I couldn't figure out a couple of years back why I got reactions every time I ate out, or something processed. Than one time I accidentally bought iodized salt. It took me a couple of weeks to...
  2. I couldn't use ghee either, so I use coconut oil. D
  3. Years ago, I got this idea from Dr. David William's newsletter. At the time it really helped me. I forgot all about it until I had my thyroid tested and discovered that I had low hormone levels. To see if you need more iodine: Do after showering or washing for the day. Take some topical iodine and paint a quarter size amount on your SKIN. Check...
  4. I felt good for 4 days when I first went gluten free, and then suffered a long while worse than ever. It didn't hang on though. I got smarter at avoiding contamination. I found other foods that caused me problems. I kept healing. My hardest days were often followed by my best new highs. When the going gets tough, keep trudging. You might not have arrived...
  5. My practitioner told me she went to the doctor she works and said, "Now what do I do, she knows more than I do about it." I didn't hear how he replied. The thing about what I know is that is very directed toward my specific symptoms. I am missing a broad overall view of what is going on in the body, how things work together, and where to look for correct...
  6. I am not sure exactly what all you wanted to know. If you did a blood test and than endoscopy, it is time to learn to be 100% gluten free. Than you can see if you will respond to the diet. That would be the real gold standard test, a reponse to the gluten free diet. This is a good place to learn about the diet and what to do. D
  7. I couldn't guess. It sounds disappointing. I am glad for progress in his health. I did find that my friend that did online high school used a school called "Connections" which is in many states. I think they have required attendance daily as regular school. Something self paced may be better for you. I guess I thought that you were saying that he...
  8. It is good to know that they are getting this at school-at last. I have a daughter studying to go to Med School. Ha! My MD told me once that she always grabs her computer before coming to talk to me. She is afraid I will ask too hard of a question! Yeah, one learns their disease from the inside out. I feel driven to study and understand, so that...
  9. I personally can't eat the Shelton ground turkey I recommended anymore. I talked to the company and we couldn't figure out why. I can't tell you if it is my problems to wheat, corn, rice, or whatever. Nothing suspicious is in it. D
  10. Oh, groan, you work so hard. I recommend a grain free diet to try to stabilize the situation. I use SCD. Meanwhile, I will check with a friend that does public online school and see if it is a local thing, because I don't think it is. D
  11. Best wishes in all your efforts! Have your tried making muffins with almond flour? Even my family like them. D
  12. Glad to hear you are recovering. Have a nice journey. D
  13. Glad you got definitive answers. Happy to hear that it seems to be helping! D
  14. Welcome, You find out, on the forum, that other people have experienced the very things you do. We all bumble around a bit at first and learn the hard way! I wish you well on your recovery. D
  15. Home school does have many options these day. There is public online education. There are other online schools. There are video options. If he is in the top 10% of his class and gets post high school grades on standardized tests, there is PSEO. One can also do online college or study and take clep tests. All the best to you and your son! I can field...
  16. I don't know about the specific test that you talked about. The Genova food intolerance test (which I did) checked for antibodies to various foods. I felt better after avoiding all foods which I had antibodies to. My test had 60 foods, and over 200 sounds awesome. After my test, there were 11 foods deemed safe for me and I would have liked to know more...
  17. I am not a volunteer to my current position of transitioning from a life of relishing gluten to lady that shrinks back when gluten is near. When the teacher mentioned "health" or an internal organ in elementary school, I felt weak! Sometimes, I would get dizzy and the field of vision turned black! Once a nurse came to school to take our pulses. The teacher...
  18. Welcome! I did some crying at first, but now I am happy because I am BETTER. I hope all the same for you (but for the crying). My story is similar in many respect. I carried the celiac weight at least 30 years before I couldn't carry on any longer. D
  19. I buy fresh meat and bake or cook it in the crock pot with some salt and a quart of water. One can get more flavor by browning the meat, but I tried to keep it simple. Pork and Beef roast work good for use as sandwich meat. D
  20. My T3 was at the lowest range. I just remembered seeing improvement in my health while painting iodine unto my skin in a quarter size. I forgot and left that behind long ago. I guess maybe I need to make sure I get my iodine! D
  21. The final gold standard test (after antibodies) is to go 100% gluten free and see how it goes. Keep track of symptoms to describe what happened to a doctor later if needed. Endoscopy's sometime miss damage. I also believe checking some nutrient levels could help determine how your digestion is working. Vitamin B, iron, vitamin D, and magnesium might be...
  22. I would appreciate it if someone would take a look, but don't care to show everyone. One number was at the bottom of the range. Also, if someone thinks there may be a problem, who would I see or talk too? The MD would have only tested TSH and said it wasn't needed to do more. I ended up paying for the rest of the panel. I don't think she knows too much...
  23. Yes, they can miss the damage when they do an endoscopy. I have celiac. When I was 10 my sister thought I looked like I was pregnant! When I went gluten free a couple of years ago, my belly loomed larger for a while. I hope you will be sure to have all of the tests for celiac. For the tests a person must be eating some gluten, so perhaps that...
  24. Thyroid Panel was within range throughout. . Do I assume I never had an issue? Or could there have been improvement since gluten free? I had many symptoms and several people here told me to get tested and also a doctor that specializes in celiac told me to get it tested. At any rate, I am glad that this, anyway, isn't being a problem for me. Anyone...
  25. Yes, When I was 17, the enamel disappeared off my teeth. The dentists would marvel about the unusual color of my teeth. It is a sign of celiac. Incidentally, I had a talk with my dentist about it last time I visited. He believed that the mouth environment gets to acidic and the enamel dissolves off of the teeth. I also suggested mal-nutrition from mal...
