  1. My symptoms before gluten free were non-distinct and constant. I had especially bloating, mind fog, and fatigue. Now when I get glutened I notice swelling, bloating, cramping, and have diarreah four days later. I am really thankful that my symptoms now come in go with more gusto. I am absolutely motivated to avoid gluten. D
  2. I get puffy eyes. I believe that it is related to my intolerances. I also get swelling my my legs at the same time. My chiropractor told me the other day to check into information on Lymphatic isssues. I did. I saw puffy eyes in some of those materials. My chiropractor told me the pump for the lymph is in the ankles. Therefore I think that perhaps...
  3. My iron numbers initially went down after going gluten free I am glad to hear the ferritin levels are up! I had the immature red blood cells that are too large. It is a good thing to be rid of it. D
  4. No, you cannot eat gluten if you have celiac disease. It is a life long thing to avoid gluten. It is well this way anyway, because you can be healthy!
  5. I had some heart trouble before my diagnosis. My blood pressure would plunge when I stood up. My problem improved with supplements. I feel these troubles were brought on by celiac. I had a very nutritious diet, but my nutrient levels were low. D
  6. Do you eat many foods processed by other people? Has the amount of processed foods you use changed recently? I am just trying to understand how after 6 years you feel worse.
  7. Coconut water seems to really help me with dehydration. I seem to absorb it better than water. Have you had your nutrient levels checked. Are you taking vitamin B? I believe that cracked lips can be a sign of low vitamin B. D
  8. The villi heal. I believe they start healing as soon as you go gluten free. My nutrient levels were low at diagnosis. They actually went lower at first gluten free. After that they came up to normal. The nutrient levels going up would show that the villi are absorbing better now. I feel better, and want that for you too. D
  9. Great! My daughters always wanted longer hair! Maybe it will happen one day. Mine got real short just before I went gluten free. I never lost handfuls, but it sure was thin. D
  10. Sounds like you are discovering the world. I did enough of that and I found it empty. Trying thing after thing and on to the next thing, because nothing truly satisfies. I fear you may be making choices outside of your good sense, or outside of what you have always believed. In my mind you need to be leery of doing all your heart tells you. I hope...
  11. Thanks, you two. I have been checked for diabetes, perhaps someone will care to check again. My blood sugar levels have been good. I don't eat sweets as a general rule and watch carbs besides. Yeah, this doctor visit I didn't try to hide anything. I didn't really care if she thought I was a bit loco. I just told her what symptoms I was having and...
  12. My doctor believed I had celiac when she saw my genetic results. Mine showed 2 copies of HLA DQ2 and 2 copies of HLA DQ8. I had been off gluten for 3 weeks. I looked 5 months pregnant. I shared my symptoms after going gluten free. She told me I had celiac and should never eat gluten again. Over time, since, I read the forum so much I discovered that...
  13. Perhaps you don't need them. Maybe your villi do their job of telling your pancreas to fire, so you don't need them to help break down your food. Maybe the kind you got didn't work for you. These things do get pretty complicated to figure out at times. I guess you will figure it out over time. D
  14. Isn't there another doctor that you can see if you pay for it yourself? You would need a full celiac blood panel to see if you have antibodies to gluten. But you need to be eating gluten to have the antibodies. I would care to point out that any change after going gluten free (such as your appetite) suggests that you are reacting to gluten. I hope...
  15. I surely was deficient in B12, but the levels have come up. My sense of touch is not what it should be, but I do feel pain now when I need to. I recollect a time when I set my finger on the stove, when I saw smoke coming up, I felt the pain finally. Now, I feel the pain right away. Would a neurologist handle this type of problem? I don't need to...
  16. I started out feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. I feel better. Sometimes my hardest days were followed by my best. Hang in there. You're working on healing, even if you can't tell it yet. D
  17. There were no tricks last time I had my teeth cleaned. One time I got fooled, by you used this the last time! I reacted. I don't know what I reacted to; I am not saying it was gluten. This time I got the pumice and I did not react. D
  18. Thanks for the concern. I think I am just having a bad week. I believe I got a cross contaminated locally grown product in my life a few weeks back. I had quite enough of it over time and have spent time with my brain fog back. I also have a friend that went blind and got diagnosed with MS. I realized that MS had a possible gluten connection, so that...
  19. My functional medicine nurse told me that digestive enzymes help to break down food. When there is villi damage, the villi can't do their job of telling the pancreas to fire. They will heal, but in the meanwhile the enzymes can help sustain. I like my enzymes. D
  20. Ashwangandha is one herb that my functional medicine nurse says is always in the adrenal supports that work for her patients. I need to follow this thread. I currently take a Metagenics adrenal support. I am diffusing ylang ylang, clary sage, and geranium for progesterone half of the month. I couldn't use the cream as they bloated me up. I think I am...
  21. I am glad you got diagnosed early and have lived with it! I also am a mother. My biological children number five and we have 2 adopted children. I got my diagnosis 20 months back after 30+ years of symptoms. I am leery of my children developing it also. There are possible symptoms, but the ones tested were negative. My oldest is 25 and the youngest...
  22. Thanks, I did see an MD. She thought I just had "tired brain" nothing to worry about. She is looking more into my background though, for some reason (Probably me) they had no records from past doctors. I just am not sure how far to trust on one MD's opinion from one visit alone.
  23. Not even sure I am having neuro issues, whatever they are. I can look it up though, I guess.
  24. I got told in another thread to see a neurologist. Does anyone see a neurologist for their celiac. I recall one on the summit talking about white lesions in the brain. He was treating such things with diet and supplements. I think that is probably rare, but would like to know more about it. If you would care to PM me or post here, I would appreciate...
  25. I brought this up with the new MD (Dr. Wheatley of all names) I saw the other day. She listened to my description and said that it was "Tired Brain." The brain fails to put the pieces of the pictures together! She did not feel it was anything to worry about. I happens seldom and is not getting worse over time. My main celiac symptoms were foggy brain...
