For decades I kept improving my diet in the hope that the energy and alertness I craved would come and stay. In my desperate way I cut junk food, baked my own 100% whole grain natural bread, and even moved to a farm. Lately, I have been thinking about the desperate way I controlled my diet, while I left exercise to chance. By chance I got quite a lot...

ARCHIVED What Is Vanillin?
1desperateladysaved replied to kleitner1961's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It is an artificial flavoring used instead of vanilla. D -
ARCHIVED Rash Show Up After Eliminating Gluten?
1desperateladysaved replied to cmc811's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I seem to get some type of a rash after removing products which I don't tolerate. I take any reaction as a good reaction and figure that my body is at work! D -
I noticed that my blog has been viewed when I stored it as a draft. Is it available to the public before I publish it? I guess that might be okay, but I would like to know about it. There may be an occasion where I wish to type one in somewhere else and transfer it in when complete instead of having it available for viewing while incomplete.

ARCHIVED Coconut Oil/milk
1desperateladysaved replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You may want to try SHEA Butter. Applying after bathing helps to seal in moistness. My skin feels mist for several days with this treatment. I have heard that Shea butter has natural latex, so if that is a concern please look it up, or test carefully before applying! Shea butter is so thick reminds me of the Eucerine cream I use to use to combat dry skin... -
I Want The Ride To Stop

Yeah, if I didn't feel so good, I would feel these depressing thoughts, and sometimes I do. -
ARCHIVED Possible Celiac?
1desperateladysaved replied to Fenrir's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That's how I felt about diagnosis. I didn't want to follow the diet, but if I did have it, it would be a great explanation for symptoms I had suffered from for years. Now I am a little short of two years gluten free and so glad for the discovery. After 30 years I am free of brain fog and extreme fatigue. I am hoping the same for the relief of your symptoms... -
ARCHIVED I Dont Care About An Official Dx Anymore, I Know I Have It!
1desperateladysaved replied to crazyitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I had eczema for which the doctors had no explanation of the root of it. Yes, the cream could clear it up, but it would come back with a vengeance! I can't wait to hear about your progress with the diet, and I expect it will help you a lot. You may want to keep track (in writing) of the changes you experience in your symptoms. Do you know to identify... -
ARCHIVED Digestive Enzymes Derived From Barley
1desperateladysaved replied to sfc83's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I agree with you that I wouldn't eat it. Thanks for sharing as Integrative Technologies is a company whose products I have used in the past and I often check their ingredients when purchasing supplements. I constantly look for the supplements which I will tolerate the very best. I haven't tried their enzymes. D -
ARCHIVED Why Multiple Food Intolerances--Need To Vent!
1desperateladysaved replied to Maryw88's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Yep, it can be hard. But I think my life with gluten was very much harder. Therefore, multiple allergies seem light. I am becoming the detective, more cunning than all of the mystery books when I was a kid. So, it sharpens ones mind. Pretty sure my family would be without me (Or certainly wish they were) if gluten and foods I am intolerant of lived...- 24 replies

Hang on for the ride! so glad that you have help. That is great if you can absorb things better, and hopefully it will change everything. Keep watching it and you may need help with the meds. For now it may be good to read up on signs of overdose or side effects. -
ARCHIVED How To Deal With Losing The Freedom To Eat Out?
1desperateladysaved replied to HavaneseMom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
On the road, I heat my food in a Kooltron car stove lunchbox. This plugs into the car outlet. For me right now there doesn't seem to be any options. I do struggle with this somewhat, so if you see a lone lady in a van somewhere having her dinner alone give a wave. There is a cost, but having a clear mind and energy is what one needs on a trip. -

I had the honor of owning goats and taking in their milk when I was at my bottom. I don't tolerate their milk either. -
ARCHIVED Duck Eggs
1desperateladysaved replied to bartfull's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I used duck eggs pretty much the same as chicken eggs when I had them. I had mostly chicken eggs and poached them together. I also used them in baked goods. They are somewhat larger than chicken eggs; I ignored this fact. I am not sure if you would need to alter your recipes if you used 100% duck eggs. -
Angry That I Can't Find The Words
1desperateladysaved commented on CaliSparrow's blog entry in Blues Boulevard
When I have the blues like that, the best thing I can think of that I do is take inventory. I think back to how I felt when I have started. I remember aching feet, foggy fatigue and think about what I haven't lost. I have already come a long way. I consider that now I know the cause and how to prevent trouble. I look at my eyes clarity in the mirror... -
Yes, this sounds just like the utter hopelessness that I go through. The way is sometimes long and hard. But it is often followed shortly by higher highs.

Angry That I Can't Find The Words

I can relate. My mother is in a similar state as yours. I do feel hopeless when I am in a low. I hope the highs will be along again soon. Mine usually do. Write anytime. D -
ARCHIVED Need Encouragement
1desperateladysaved replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We share many sensitivities. I shudder to think of trying apple cider vinegar or anything fermented! We began our gluten free trek about the same time. I have had many ups and downs too. I successfully (I think) added more foods back in after using IgG to help my gut heal and digestive enzymes to help break down my food. I still avoid spices of nearly... -
It appears to be the same ingredient. My son was about 9 when he began taking these enzymes with meals. He had failed to grow at the expected rapid rate for his background. We eventually did a stool test and discovered that his enzyme levels were very low. Just after he began the enzymes I noted that his too small jaw began to increase at a surprising...

ARCHIVED How My Baby Saved Me: My Post-Partum Celiac Onset
1desperateladysaved replied to tri-gal's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So glad you found out. My story is similar. I had bloating and swelling, I thought this was normal for 30+ years. I lost the enamel off of my teeth when I was 17. IT is very good to know to need to avoid gluten when you need to. What a blessing the baby turned out to be. Wishing your family many more blessings as you recover. D- 3 replies

Did you get a full panel for the thyroid? My doctors just did TSH and when I finally did get the panel we discovered my thyroid wasn't working optimally. Have you had nutrients checked? Vitamin A can cause problems with vision according to my children's anatomy book. I wouldn't necessarily take vitamin A without testing as too much is not good. My brain...- 7 replies

ARCHIVED Anyone With Nerve Issues?
1desperateladysaved replied to CaliSparrow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am having trouble with being numb. There was a time when I burnt my finger and didn't know it until I saw smoke! I am not that bad anymore. Still I realize that I am numb. I am trying to get my body all of the vitamins it possibly needs. My doctors believe that nerves can heal. I have one friend that had her neuropathy go away at about 2 years gluten... -
My son takes Pancreaze enzymes. It is covered by my insurance, but I pay a co-pay of 25 dollars for 100 capsules. My youth son takes 3 a day, 1 with each meal. More information from the label. It says pancrelipase. Each capsule contains lipase 4,200, amylase 17.500, protease 10,000 usp units. They say they are Delayed-Release Capsules. I looked them...

Wow Huge Shocker Here!
1desperateladysaved commented on learning2cope's blog entry in learning2cope's Blog
I am happy to hear about Mom's consideration of your e-mails. It really is a hard thing for everyone. There will be bumps and twists. Keep going. You are now a detective and need to keep trying to figure out the things that bother you. It will help to keep records and analyze as you are doing. Also keep track of foods that help you feel better. ...- 2 comments
