Hello there again Rochelle You should be fine with butter. Just go easy on it at first and see how you get on. I don't think I've ever eliminated butter or cheddar from my diet, even when I was at my most otherwise "dairy free" stage. I was fine. Everyone is different though, just experiment. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/is-butter...- 14 replies

Thanks so much, RMJ, I really appreciate your post. Honestly, if it's not one thing it's another - I was only down the hospital for tests last week on something quite unrelated and having had the all clear, now this. I think my doctors think of me as a walking medical mystery! I've quite a bit going on in my life at the moment and possibly it's stress...

That's reassuring to know, Trents. I will sound out my GP on Monday if things don't get better over the weekend. I seem to remember my gastroenterologist telling me that IBS pain can be excruciating so perhaps this could just be a severe type of IBS pain. It does feel a bit like a spasm. I've had a lot of pain in various sites along the pudendal...

I would say that you ought to see if you can still tolerate hard cheeses like cheddar. Small amounts of this grated onto your savoury meals will boost the calorie content. My nutritionalist told me to have two eggs for breakfast a day for proteins and vitamins. Canned sardines in virgin olive oil, with the bones, will be rich in omega three, protein and...- 14 replies

Trents... that's really interesting. It first struck Tuesday after a walk, then I've had pain every day since but today's was far the worst. The one thing that makes me wonder if it is PF is that according to Dr Google it seems it commonly hits at night and wakes people. Mine is daytime. Do you remember getting it at night only?

Hello experts, I wonder if anyone on this forum has ever experienced either PF or PN? I was diagnosed with the latter about three years ago. I am now suffering similar pain, sort of a brief painful electric shock sensation in the rectum, but the difference this time is the pain seems to go when I've been to the loo (BM). I have read that this...

Hello again, If these figures are pre-diabetic it would be good to look up how to reverse the situation through diet and lifestyle changes, which I gather is eminently possible. I would imagine a large carbohydrate "hit" is something to be avoided for a while. Maybe your body is trying to tell you something. 😊 Hopefully others will chime in...

Hi Mari My weight went down about 15lbs in the months around my diagnosis, because of malabsorption caused by diarrhea. It continued to go down a little when first on the gluten-free diet as I was being ultra cautious about what I was eating. As soon as I began to master the diet and the gastro symptoms improved vastly, and I discovered the sadly...- 14 replies

I hope your doctor will be able to help - and others from this forum, too. Just to say, I can "temper" these side effects somewhat if I eat the sweet potato with something with a high fat or protein content. But I tend to avoid sweet potato altogether, given half the chance. Incidentally, you eat these carbs, are you eating them alongside fat...

Hello there, and welcome to the forum! I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. I have one foodstuff that really makes me feel like this and it's those red fleshed sweet potatoes. (I'm in the UK, they may be called something else where you are posting from - not sure where that is?) But it's almost like this extraordinary rush that makes me feel incredibly...

Yes, this was a new one on me, too. I wonder why they said that? It almost sounds as if they knew something was up with the lab that was doing the screening and they thought you'd be called back - hope I'm wrong! For any UK residents who are reading this thread, here's a really good summary of the UK route to diagnosis. Hospitals are working really...

False negative pregnancy tests or faint positive
cristiana replied to Rykroeh0306's topic in Doctors
Yes... I heard this too. Certainly a good (coeliac) friend of mine kept suffering miscarriages. Once she was diagnosed, all her pregnancies went to term. My neuro coeliac symptoms were only just becoming apparent when I had my first child and she was born ten days late; however, my second child was seven weeks premature. I remember feeling very run down... -
False negative pregnancy tests or faint positive
cristiana replied to Rykroeh0306's topic in Doctors
Hi Rykroeh Welcome to the forum. I hope someone will be able to help you with this, but in the meantime I have done a bit of reading about faint test results and I found this article which I think is helpful. https://flo.health/getting-pregnant/trying-to-conceive/pregnancy-tests/faint-line-pregnancy-test Sorry to not be of much help, but... -
Hi Checks I'm British and whilst I haven't had the same experience relating to a coeliac disease diagnosis (I was diagnosed in 2013) I have experienced a few other issues with the NHS since Covid started and yes, the poor NHS really is struggling in various areas, some more than others. For example, normally I get an annual NHS coeliac review including...

Hi Nicole Welcome to the forum! Can I ask, have you discussed your symptoms yet with your midwife, GP, obstetrician or whoever is looking after you during your pregnancy? I think it is important that you touch base with your care provider when this sort of thing crops up in pregnancy. But in answer to your question, I was only diagnosed a...

Not sure what to think
cristiana replied to AaronM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello again Aaron The journey of trying to track down food intolerances can be a long one. I think it is really good you are on your way to finding out if you are a coeliac or have NCGI because at least you will have one important answer, one way or another. (Although you are quite correcting in stating that the treatment for NCGI and coeliac disease... -
No symptoms? Ate gluten
cristiana replied to Aaron 10113's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hello Aaron, and welcome to the forum! People's responses can vary enormously. Depending on the gluten "hit", my own experience is my symptoms can vary from slight queasiness and a slightly sore stomach to extreme chills and being unable to stand up. I experienced the latter a few months ago when I ate a slice of cake that turned out to contain normal... -
Not sure what to think
cristiana replied to AaronM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Also... it is important to have been consuming enough gluten prior to an endoscopy for the same reason. Do keep this in mind before booking yours. You may wish to clarify this with your gastroenterologist. -
Not sure what to think
cristiana replied to AaronM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello there Aaron, and welcome to the forum! Well... it certainly sounds as if you have been experiencing a lot of celiac-type symptoms there but having read and re-read your account I am still not sure if you did what is known as a "gluten trial" before you had the blood tests. I'm from the UK and here it is usually recommended that someone needs to... -
Symptoms get better and then worse and then better
cristiana replied to CaseyH's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hello Casey and welcome to the forum! Trying to find out whether we have intolerances to various foodstuffs is quite a science. If you aren't already, I would suggest you might like to try keeping a food diary to record what you eat at each meal and as snacks and any symptoms the food triggers and see if a pattern emerges. But re: gluten... -
Thanks for posting those. I guess the difficulty which we face in this sort of situation is that is possible to have negative blood tests and still be a coeliac - either because one hasn't been consuming enough gluten to generate a sufficiently strong reaction, or despite gluten consumption, a small minority of coeliacs have negative blood tests but...

Hello Lenzipam and welcome to the forum You are right in stating that 6 weeks seems to be the minimum recommended time period for the trial. Here in the UK it's usually recommended that one consumes at least two slices of glutenous bread per day through that period. Out of interest, were you totally gluten free before the trial? Also,...
