Could my 3 year old have Celiac Disease?

My son is 3 years old, his uncle was just diagnosed and his great Uncle has been for years. He’s never been a good sleeper, has very soft ice cream stool for quite awhile and it’s very foul. He’s is constantly tired and he constantly eats. This last year he’s hasn’t grown that much. Which I know that is quite normal but he’s been the same weight now for over a year. He had very bad GERD as an infant which he barely gets anymore. Plus he’s had his tonsils and adenoids removed. And now just recently he has to get an assessment for a learning disability.

Plus my next question is it possible to test for Celiac from his stool. Because he has bad PTSD from surgery and getting a blood sample will be impossible.

I am not aware of stool tests for celiac disease but there is a finger prick home test kit available: https://www.imaware.health/

Another option would be to put your child on a strict gluten free diet for a trial period and see if the symptoms improve. But be aware that he must be consuming gluten regularly for any celiac disease test to be valid. Many people make the mistake of starting a gluten free diet before testing.

Dr. Kenneth Fine does offer stool testing for celiac disease, however this method of diagnosis may not be generally accepted by the greater medical community. In this case it might be a good alternative, and perhaps include a genetic test if possible:

I had what was termed "lesions," and normally ulcers are in the stomach, rather than the small intestines. I'm not sure why they would want you to have her continue to eat gluten, since she had a positive blood test, but as her doctor said, if she is uncomfortable and having symptoms why not have her go gluten-free at this point? If her symptoms improve, it would be another indicator that she has celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):

In the USA we also do a fruit cake that probably has UK origins, and my grandmother's always had lots of rum in it. I just found these:

Since the originator of the group no is no longer active here, I put you in charge...perhaps you can revive it?

Scanlan, any luck with the b1 vitamins or anything else ? New celiac of 10 months and anytime I push myself i over exert myself with weights I’m exhausted for several days afterwards.  Had a blood test done too and everything was normal.  Thanks !

My daughter had her endoscopy today. The Dr said it looked normal but she has two small ulcers. The Dr took 16 biopsies, ahold have the results in a few days. She told her to keep eating gluten until we get the biopsy results unless it’s bothering her stomach too much.  has anyone else had ulcers with celiac?
