The best gluten free Burger joints

So 3 years ago my girlfriend (now my wife) recognized my health issues as a gluten intolerance/ celiac situation. Since then I have cut wheat and all things gluten out of my diet 100%. My health increased dramatically, and quite frankly I don't think I would be alive today if I hadent made that change. I was waking up with bile in my lungs 6/7 nights a week.

However... having spent 29years eating all things gluten, I became rather addicted to burgers. So much so that every where I went I had a personal ranking of wich burger joints were the absolute best.

I'm a rather accomplished cook myself and there are few restaurants that I can't duplicate dishes from. So much so that severall people that I have cooked or catered for have offered to partner with me to open my own food truck or restaurant.

Back to the point. I had spent my 20's on finding the best burger that I could. Never considering gluten-free as an option. Until my work took me to kitchener Ontario last spring. I had been gluten-free for about a 18months, and was adhering to it very strictly. My fellow employees & I found a burger joint called "The Works" (it is worth looking up if you haven't been). I'm not going to lie or stretch the truth here. In Alaska I've had, burger jims, RW'S, and several other local faves. In washington state I've have had 5 guys, Ronnie D's, brown boys, etc, in Oregon I had clamity janes near Mt hood (btw the 2nd best burger that I've had of all time. Idk if they do gluten-free it was pre covid and pre my discovery of my gluten problem). But "the works" burgers.... blew my f***kin socks off, gluten free of not. It is somthing that I can't duplicate or even get 50% close too. The absolute perfect burger in my opinion. If I had the ability I would open a franchise here in spokanne washington and eventually in Seattle. I don't know how many people have tried the works burger based in the Toronto/ Buffalo area that live here in the pnw, but if you have please tell me if you have found a place that is even 60% what they are.

I have contacted "the works" about ordering their gluten-free buns and they simply cannot to it because of customs and the expiration date of their buns. To much time and to high of risk of spoiling for shipment to the pnw...

Scharr, frang, red Robin, etc... they are about 25% of what the works has to offer when it comes to gluten-free buns. I haven't been able to enjoy a burger since I left kitchener 2 years ago. So please, if some one knows of a place in the pnw that even comes close... msg, post, and kind of contact. I'm tired of being deprived.

I've not tried them, but from your description they don't offer a gluten-free bun, is that correct? Perhaps you could try bringing in your own bun, and to me Trader Joe's gluten-free buns are the best.

Here in California my favorite is In-N-Out Burger, and they do a "protein wrap" burger with lettuce, or I sometime order that and bring my own bun.

Welcome to the forum, @Art Maltman! Ask your physician to order serum antibody tests specifically designed to detect celiac disease. That's the place to start but you shouldn't be on a gluten free diet some weeks before the blood draw. You certainly have some symptoms that are characteristic of celiac disease and you have a first degree relative that has celiac disease. So, I think this would be an appropriate request to bring to your physician. Here is an article outlining the various serum antibody tests that can be ordered when checking for celiac disease:   The physician may not be open to ordering a full panel but push for at least these two: total IGA and tTG-IGA. By the way, absence of gut pain is very common in the celiac population. We call them "silent" celiacs as they have no or very minor symptoms. There are over 200 symptoms and spinoff health issues that have become associated with celiac disease and the range of symptoms and effects produced by the disease in different individuals various tremendously.

Try using our search engine, but select articles, and in this case I also selected titles only: https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=cheese&type=cms_records2&quick=1&search_and_or=and&search_in=titles&sortby=relevancy

About 5 Months ago I got a little bit sick and since then I have been having trouble focusing, rembering, thinking thought through, having pressure on my head and even just talking to friends normaly has become a challange. I also have been having yellowish poops. My father was has celiac but I am not sure if thats what is causeing my problems becasue I dont have any abdomnial pain like him. i have also tried going gluten free for a week with no results, but maybe i just need to try for longer. I have gone to doctors but they haven't had really any ideas as to whats wrong with me they just say it could be anything and try this drug maybe it will work. I really am tired of feeling terrible all the time and if any one knows if these symptoms are common to celiac or has any other ideas whats wrong with me please let me know.
