This is what happens when our Queen of Emotionocons becomes AWOL.

YES!!! Where is our Queen during this time of upheaval within her Empire?? Do you think Queen Erica could be behind this emoticutback? Perhaps her parents are. . .. ... They may have caught her trying to sign "penis" or "vagina" when she was first crowned, and decided to take hostile action. . . . . ...... . .

:rolleyes::lol:

If I am reading this right, she is quoting her friend, jewelchic.

BTW........do you think all her wacky videos are clues?

Hmmm......... .. she lives in the jungle. ..... (Pardon me, the "Mighty Jungle"). . . ...with sleeping lions... ... . . .

LLAMA LADY IS JANE GOODALL!!!

.....no, wait, that would have to be "the baboon sleeps tonight".... . . . . . . .

:rolleyes::lol:

What kind of squash? Pumpkins are related to squash so it actually might turn out pretty darn good Bevvy :)

Thanks all................

Bev--I could have sworn that I've read that a lot of canned pumpkin is actually squash. Don't ask me where, but I know I heard that before.

I think Julie's right, that they would probably come out good. The recipe only uses a cup, and there are lots of spices and other ingredients. I think what it adds most is moisture.

Lisa (curly)--right on! about B. Sherman!! :D

Gotta tell ya, I've interchanged squash, pumpkin and sweet potato in a lot of recipes, with great success. In fact, my sweet potato pie is essentially the same recipe as pumpkin pie, and everyone likes it much better. Surprisingly, better on my blood sugar level, too......

Need a little sweet potato emoticon. .. .....

I could use ten of 'em ....... . . . .. .. -_-^_^

I like sweet potato pie better than pumpkin. I got into it when we lived in Georgia. :)

Hi, Purple!

My dh caught a rattlesnake (then froze it) about 10 years ago that he plays pranks with...that darn thing falls out of the freezer sometimes...I almost threw it away once but I knew I'd be in trouble if I did!

Excellent! Now we can do the whole thing without gloves!

A person remains conscious for eight seconds after being decapitated.

So you KNOW when your head starts to roll? In that case, eight seconds it a VERY LONG TIME.

Good Morning, all!

I have never in my entire life eaten a Twinkie. Dunno if one can be purchased here. . .. I'm sure they are in the Canadian market. What, no twinkies across the Pond, Nik? Well, you've now got a recipe courtesy of Purple. . .ya can see what y'all have been missing. .. . .... <_<

TEN EMOTICONS????????????

Do you suppose Sckauwght discovered our love of ALT combinations and slashed our emotaquota?? (where else other than this thread would you need ALL twenty? :smirk:)

I still feel an uneasy connection with the timing of our Erica's coronation (all of the emoticon use, and at the end, "number of emoticons leftover - - 3 :rolleyes:B) ) and this sudden, sweeping reduction in our Official Emotiquota.. . ....

Do emoticons have a best before date?? Perhaps we were not using twenty per post, and many emoticons were past expiry and had to be destroyed. . .. .....are they recyclable?

Yes, this could be Skaought's way of keeping things green - - the pressure is certainly on all business owners. He needs to keep an enviornmentally friendly website, and frugal use of emoticons perhaps is the first step. . . . ..

Mygawd, what's next. ..... ...

Limiting our use of coloUr?? Size? fancy tricks ??

:cacklecackle: !!

Yeah, t'would be something very like this, I imagine. . . ...

A few days ago I got a microwave from freecycle. My microwave is from the 80's, has no turntable, is 500 watts (no brownie-in-a-cup for me) and you set the time and temp by turning dials.

So I go pick up the microwave, and it's evening and it's dark so I leave it in my truck thinking I'll deal with the switch on the weekend. Last night I get home and Roomie has taken away the old and brought in the new. Not only does it have buttons and things, and a turntable, it's a convection oven!! I'm so excited!!

:ph34r:umm, what do you do with a convection oven??

I think you are quite right. I suspect somebody lurking has complained......."They are just having too much fun over there <_< ........cut their emoticons in half!"

......or perhaps there were budget cutbacks and the emoticon police were laid off. :P.....no wait.....reducing emoticons will only put them into overtime.......how many times will we get busted, now?

Seriously, though.........what pupose does it serve to cut back on emoticons? Does it benefit the forum in some way?

Mygawd!! You guys! You have absolutely NEVER made, nor tasted, such delicious baked or roasted stuff until you use the convection setting. . . .I could not believe how incredible my roasted chicken/beef tasted when I first tried convection cooking. And muffins! OMG....Cakes! Everything is SOOOOO moist. . . . I do all of our Thanksgiving/Christmas turkeys in convection -- unbelievable the difference!

Dunno why there is such a difference. . . .the convection setting uses a fan, and perhaps the heat is distributed more evenly. Dunno, and don't care. I just was SO amazed when I started tasting the dinners I was preparing this way.

It's easy to change the setting to convection, at least on my stove - - I just turn a dial to "convection", and there you go.

Things also cook quicker, so you must be aware of that, and I always have the temperature 25 degrees lower than in regular roasting or baking.

You need to try it....you'll be amazed! :)

Hey! I've only used ONE emoticon so far, and ALL that text! Good fer me, doing what I can for the Forum Enviornment. . . .

What awful things have we done as kids (or adults  ) on Hallowe'en?

Hmmm.. . . .no egging or shaving creaming houses in my past. . .. ... ..

I was probably about thirteen, just at the age where you're getting a little old for trick or treating, and likely getting some dirty stares and/or doors in the face when you go knocking for candy. Me and three of my friends fanned out late on Hallowe'en night, after most of the kids had trick or treated, and started taking all the pumpkins from the porches around the neighboUrhood.

We quickly ran and placed them on Old Mr. Hudson's front porch (that horrid old codger that every neighbourhood has, who screams at you when you walk on his lawn, takes your frisbees and baseballs into his house and never gives them back. . . we all have had a Mr. Hudson in our childhood).

Well, by ten o'clock, there must have been 60 big pumpkins piled all across his porch. . . he couldn't open his door, I am sure. It looked SOOOOOO heelarryus. .. . .and the old phart deserved it.:lol:

Hope he isn't still around, 99 years old and recently diagnosed with celiac, checking out forums. . . .. . . ....:unsure:

I'm not saying this is what you have, but your description reminds me of Morgellons, which are not very well understood. Here is a review from a reputable source. If it seems similar to your experience, you could raise this question with your Dr.  https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/morgellons-disease

Hi Trent, no dairy. Other than good quality butter. I have been lactose free for years. No corn, sugar, even seasonings and spices. I don't eat out. I cook my own food.
    • trents
@nancydrewandtheceliacclue, are you consuming dairy? Not sure if dairy is part of the carnivore diet.

Hello Russ! Thank you so much for your reply.  I have not had an antibody test done, ever, relating to gluten. Last year I had an allergy test done via blood draw (as my insurance wouldn't cover the skin test) but this was for pollen and grasses, not food. Even on the blood test I had extremely high levels of reactions to each allergen. Could this seasonal allergy inflammation be contributing to my celiac inflammation? I am so careful, there is no way I could ingest gluten. For example, couple of months ago I tried a cough drop that says it was gluten free. I checked ingredients, it seemed fine. But just taking one of those caused me to have nausea, vomiting, and the same extreme abdominal pain. Have you ever heard of anyone else having symptoms like mine after being diagnosed celiac and strictly gluten free? The last episode I had like this was yesterday, after I ate a certified gluten-free coconut macaroon with a little chocolate on it. I have eaten coconut and chocolate before with no issue,  so I didn't see how I could all of a sudden have such a strong response.

The sensitivity of people with coeliac disease varies greatly between individuals. The generally accepted as safe limit for most people is 10 milligrams per day. This equates to a piece of bread the size of a small pea. Some people report that they are more sensitive than this, but others can very occasionally eat a normal gluten containing meal without reacting. I don't think that touching or throwing bread around would lead to you ingesting enough to cause a reaction. There are case reports of farmers with coeliac disease reacting to the dust from gluten-containing animal feed but they were inhaling large amounts of dust over a long period of time in barns. Perhaps you episodes are caused by a reaction to something other than gluten? Have you had your antibody levels checked to see whether you are still being exposed to gluten?
