Terrible Heartburn - What To Take?

Recommended Posts

I think I may have been cc'd yesterday. Today I have THE WORST heartburn I've ever had. I have a huge bottle of TUMS tropical flavor at home, but I think they have gluten? Anybody know what's safe in the antacid arena? I need something fast acting, not something I have to wait on. Thanks!

As per the glutenfreedrugs website, Tums do contain gluten but Rolaids are gluten-free. I use Rolaids.....

Hope you feel better!

My daughter takes apple cider vinegar ... it helps the tummy. You can either use the pure stuff in a glass of water, or take it in pills. She's 8 years old and takes the pills daily .... hasn't had heartburn since.

Thanks to all. A handful of Rolaids and a big cold glass of milk has stemed the tide :)

I second the apple cider vinegar. The pills are much easier to get down, but the liquid works quickly if that is all you have.

I've tried LOTS of things, but recently tried Maximum Strength Pepsid AC and it is the best so far for me. Nothing seems to totally eliminate it, though.
