Ultrasound Goop

I am having some seriously uncomfortable bloating this evening. I feel as though my c-section scar is going to rupture, my skin feels that tight. The only thing that I did today out of the ordinary is get an ultrasound. Does anyone know if that goop they put on your belly is gluten free? I didn't even think to ask. I didn't get sick last time I had an ultrasound. Seriously though, I haven't eaten anything out of the ordinary or gone any place that I realistically could have gotten glutened. What do you guys think?

Gee, I don't know. I did have an ultrasound done last year due to gyn. problems. I did not have any bloating or gluten-like symptoms from the "goop". I never asked, either--never thought to

I hope whatever this is passes quickly, Angie.

A:

I have always heard that gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin and don't know about that COLD goop. Don't know what to tell ya.

Maybe someone else may know.

I'm sure I've scratched my belly and then had my fingers in or near my mouth. i didn't think to wash it off when I got home. I literally feel like I'm going to explode! Plus, the skin on my belly feels odd. There's no rash or anything, and it might just be from being stretched so much from pregnancy plus bloating, but it feels weird, sort of tingly. I can't describe it.

Wow, that's really good to know. Now, I wonder what's going on with me... I feel very, well, ugh...

For any interested - the exact ingredients are:

Propylene Glycol 57-55-6

Glycerine 56-81-7 as a mist 10mg/m 10mg/m

Phenoxyethanol 122-99-6

FD&C Blue #1 2650-18-2

Sandy

The gel is listed as hypoallergenic and not known to aggravate any medical condition. Some may experience slight rash / itchiness that is transient - perhaps becasue of the blue dye or propylene glycol (?).

I recently started shopping at a nearby Trader Joe's store. I was surprised at the number and variety of (healthy) gluten-free options sold there. I must admit their low prices are also quite tempting. However, I am curious as to the labeling on all their packages. While none of their products are certified as gluten-free, many are identified as 'GLUTEN FREE' on the packaging. Are these items safe for celiacs? Has anyone tried Trader Joe's products and have there been any adverse reactions?

HI, my doctor suggested one week of consuming gluten before blood tests.  I have been gluten free for 3 years.  Has anyone been through this and will I get exact results after one week of consuming gluten?  I don't even know if I can do this, if I get sick I am not sure if I can continue, any suggestions??  Thanks in advance.

I did reach out to them on April 4th and left a message. I will try calling again. Thank you!

PPI's can be a wonderful healing agent when used as prescribed on the label which I believe recommends use of up to 8 weeks. But they are like antibiotics in that they are overprescribed and undermonitored. Docs generally prescribe them and then keep prescribing them because they take care of immediate symptoms so well. Physicians are more into treating symptoms than uncovering causes.

For the vast majority of celiacs it's probably safe, however, it seems that for those who are super sensitive it's best to avoid such products. It's fairly easy now to find brands that are naturally gluten-free, which is what Celiac.com recommends.  You might finds this article interesting:
