I saw this posted on another board. I can't find the ingredients listed online. Does anyone know if these are safe?

All the cookie crisp cereals are made from whole grain corn, corn meal, cornstarch, and corn syrup. Seems like it would pack on the pounds with all that corn and sugar. I wouldn't eat it.

I ate some and didn't get sick. It's really sickening sweet.

I wouldn't eat it either but was thinking of it for my daughter.

The Retailer-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named sells it. They have an ingredients list posted for the chocolate chip flavor.

Whole Grain Corn, Sugar, Brown Sugar, Corn Meal, Chocolate Flavored Chips (Sugar, Wheat Starch, Cocoa Processed With Alkali, Corn Starch, Yellow Corn Flour, Soybean Oil, Corn Syrup Solids, Salt, Dextrose, Baking Soda, Soy Lecithin, Distilled Monoglycerides, Chocolate Liquor, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Tricalcium Phosphate [Anticaking Agent]), Modified Corn Starch, Whole Grain Oats, Rice Bran and/or Canola Oil, Cocoa Processed With Alkali, Salt, Fructose, Tricalcium Phosphate, Corn Syrup, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Trisodium Phosphate. Vitamin E (Mixed Tocopherols) and Bht Added to Preserve Freshness. Vitamins and Minerals: Calcium Carbonate, Zinc and Iron (Mineral Nutrients), Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbate), A B Vitamin (Niacinamide), Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B1 (Thiamin Mononitrate), Vitamin A (Palmitate), A B Vitamin (Folic Acid), Vitamin B12, Vitamin D.

I don't see ingredients posted for the vanilla sprinkles flavor, but even if there's no wheat starch listed, there are probably oats (non-gluten-free) and I'm always suspicious of "natural flavors" in cereals or other sweets (although it's probably not an issue with General Mills products).

There's nothing that I see in the Cookie Crisp ingredients which would be an absolute NO for all Celiacs (wheat starch theoretically shouldn't contain gluten if it's processed well enough, and many Celiacs tolerate oats) but I feel it would be really pushing my luck to try it.

General Mills is getting pretty good about saying which of their products are truly gluten-free. I think I'd stick with the ones that are marked gluten-free. Perhaps you might try the Strawberry Chex for your child if you want to offer a super-sweet cereal as a treat.

Trix and Fruity Pebbles work for a treat too.

I know you were asking about Cookie Crisp and not options for other cereals, but as a 26 year old who would eat Lucky Charms today if I could, I like to have a nice sweet bowl of cereal every once in a while!

I LOVE the Envirokids Peanut Butter Panda Puffs. It looks like Kix but tastes like Captain Crunch. It is Gluten-Free and organic. It is completely delicious and I think your daughter would enjoy it because it tastes like regular cereal. It doesn't taste like icky gluten-free cereal.

If you have a Trader Joe's around, I would look for it and give it a try! :P

Good suggestion. They're pretty good right out of the box. Really sweet. The chocolate chex are good treats also.

We now have all the gluten-free varieties available here and I like them all. The rice chex are the only one's I have to add some agave nectar to sweeten up a little. I like to add some blueberries also.

best regards, lm

The GM Sprinkles Cookie Crisp cereal contains no gluten-containing ingredients (no WBRO), although it is not labeled as gluten free. A Google search of "sprinkles cookie crisp gluten free" should turn up the ingredient list.

Thanks! I do know about the other cereals and she does like some of them. Nut allergy means nothing with peanut butter. I thought this Cookie Crisp would be good to use not as a cereal but a finger food on the way to dance class. Could be put in a bag and eaten with fingers.

Of course I don't know what her schedule will be next year. This year she had to go straight to dance class 3 days a week right after school. And two of those days were days with back to back classes.

I hadn't seen the oats on the chocolate chip kind. Only the wheat.

Yay! I found evidence that is is in fact gluten-free. Daughter loves anything with sprinkles on it. She will be sooo happy! Now I hope I can find the cereal!

Just got 4 boxes from that online place that is the name of a big river. Couldn't find it in any stores. Doesn't say gluten-free on the box. Tastes just like sugar cookies. Daughter has a new favorite!

Definitely worth speaking to your gastroenterologist about this. My own told me that by using Gaviscon a barrier forms over the contents of the stomach and stops gas and acid irritating the throat.  In fact, he said to me that because I found relief using Gaviscon that was a very clear indicator that reflux was the cause of that particular issue.   A wedge pillow will really help with this - or raising the top bed legs with bricks.

I did get the pneumonia vaccine about 4 years ago. I had this amazing allergist who did all those vitamin deficiencies test and told to get that vaccine. Unfortunately she retired.  I haven’t been to an allergist in a few years,  I’m not sure what my levels are now. I did have a pulmonologist who wasn’t concern and said I seemed fine to him that I was young etc. But yes I think I should at the very least get a different opinion. Thank you for your reply

Yes I do have acid reflux. I’m not on anything for it at the moment. I sometimes wonder if that’s what it could be because I get heart burn every night. I may revisit my gastrointestinal doctor again. Thanks for the reply

Hi @HelloFlowersGoodbyeFlour I wonder if you suffer from reflux, as if you do, you may find it could also be irritating your airways.  I shall explain: I have to use a blue inhaler from time to time, and it seems to be related to reflux.  Never had any trouble before my coeliac diagnosis, the reflux seemed to be something that developed following a holiday to France in 2019, where I had been exposed to gluten.    The reflux continued into the autumn and winter, my throat itched to begin with, particularly after meals, but it then that feeling of irritation seemed to spread to my lungs.  I even found it difficult to breathe on occasion. What stopped it in its tracks was using a wedge pillow at night, following a reflux diet (you can find them online), not eating 2-4 hours before bed and also having a dose of Gaviscon Advanced at night, which forms a barrier so that acid/food can't go back up your esophagus.  The throat irritation faded, and then I found it easier to breathe again. Just mentioning in case it could be a contributing factor.

Since initially getting your D checked a few years ago, has it since rebounded to normal levels? Sounds like at some point you got it checked again.
