Low Iga & Low Igg Levels

My youngest son's been undergoing testing for celiac. So far he's had:

anti endomysial antibodies

crp quantitative

ESR

Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) Antibodies (IgG & IgA)

CBC

Base Metabolic Panel

Liver/Hepatic Function Panel

Thyroid Panel

Stool C Diff toxin A & B- parasite

Stool O & P X 3/Giardia Antigen- IBS

Cryptosporidium- parasite

All came back fine except for his globulin levels which were low. The pedi GI sent us for:

IgA, IgG & subsets, IgE & IgM

Base Metabolic Panel- repeat

This morning I rec'd a phone call from the pedi GI telling me that my son's electrolyte levels are low & that she wants to send us for yet more blood work.

He went this afternoon for:

Base metabolic panel (3rd time)

Serum Amino Acids

Urine Organic Acids

I had a few questions so I talked to the NP at the GI's office. She told me the following:

IgA: 21 (24-121 normal)

IgG: 458 (533-1070 normal)

IgG Subsets: Normal

Electrolytes: CO2: 15 (20-28 normal)

She mentioned the latest lab requests are metabolic panels b/c of the consistently low CO2 levels (guess it was low the 1st time around but no one said anything?). Can any of this be attributed to Celiac? I questioned her on a possible IgA deficiency but she told me that I'd have to discuss that w/an Immunologist. Can you have low IgA & low IgG levels & still have celiac? We have a follow up Aug 13 & I'm really contemplating having endoscopy done so we can see what his insides really look like. He's had over 6 mos of chronic diarrhea but thankfully he eats like a horse & is at the top of the charts.

Thanks!

I hoping im Celiac I don't want to live like this forever. I have pretty much all the syptoms of Celiac disease and if i can make them all fade away by just a diet that would be heaven on earth to me. But my Blood pannel was taking and my results showed up as low IgA and Low IgG.... Hummm...

IgA WAS 1 <20 Units (1 out of 30 i'd say i have low IgA)

IgG was 2 <20 Units (2 out of 30 low IgG)

for IgG <20 units negative -High IgG to determine celiac and if i go by my IgG result im deff not celiac

20-30 units weak positive

>30 moderate to strong postive

conclusion

NO Idea have to wait a month and a half to see a real speacialist to get a better aspect. Note i went gluten-free before taking the test for two weeks not enough time to really effect the antibodies in my blood. but i felt my best when gluten-free. im gassy bloated and constipated Every day! just ate a hole bunch of flower of sugar free cookie mix; never felt sicker my face turned bright red and oh does my stomach hurt, when ever i drink ill light up like a cherry and the next day ill be bed ridden for the entire day with stomach issue's. Also i have several bruses on my leg's no idea how they developed, geographical tongue, absent period for 5 months only 21, hair loss, poor circulation .etc

Also i guess if you have low IgA it can skew the result but by how much? i mean i have 2 units of IgG

So if their is anyone out their who nows if you can have low IgA and low IgG

i'd love to know!

But my mother and I are pretty convinced that it's celiac.
