ARCHIVED Yes, I Do Let Celiac Stop Me! You Too?dilettantesteph replied to GFAnnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease You have an extra challenge with the kids. It will get easier over time. I didn't do much initially but these days I go on trips even out of the country and attend social functions involving food. You just need to figure out ways to make it work.

ARCHIVED Do You Ever Break Down And Eat Gluten Every Once In A While?dilettantesteph replied to supersquatchy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I was also tempted by my old favorites initially. After awhile that food lost it's appeal. You get new favoritie things to eat. Things get better.

ARCHIVED Could Your Retainer Be Preventing Healing? Yes.dilettantesteph replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Publications & Publicity I am sorry that you had this problem. I hope that your daughter is feeling better. Can you please answer a question for me? Was it a colored plastic? My endodontist recently told me that it was colored materials that were most likely to contain gluten so they avoided those. This didn't make sense to me since gluten isn't colored. I had some terrible...

ARCHIVED Is Blood In Stool "normal"?dilettantesteph replied to hazelnutty42's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease This is what webMD says: Open Original Shared Link "It is important to have a doctor evaluate any bleeding in the stool." Try not to worry as you wait for your appointment. It is likely nothing serious.

ARCHIVED Is There Soy Or Gluten In Stretch-Titedilettantesteph replied to John Burlingame's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I'm sorry you got sick. It is really hard to tell what is causing a reaction, especially at first. Personally, I like removing as many possibilities as I can so that I can more easily know what the problem is. One thing that you could do is to put the melon in deep bowl and put the stretch tite over that so that it doesn't touch the melon. I hope that...

ARCHIVED Being Glutened By Supplements?dilettantesteph replied to Rhobhan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I should have put this in my first post, but my mind wasn't working very well then. My experience with supplements was that my health improved significantly when I cut them all out. I was taking quite a few and likely, in my opinion, something was gluten contaminated. I am very sensitive so that my experience would not apply to the vast majority of celiacs...

ARCHIVED Tea Recommendationsdilettantesteph replied to moosemalibu's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications If you like green tea, but not too bitter, you may like green tea with chamomile. The Twinnings brand used to be my favorite.

I'm not sure about in Australia, but here in the U.S. you can often get journal articles from your local library. You need to special order them but they get you copies in a few days. You can also go to the local university library and get access there sometimes. I agree that it can be a challenge. Not only is it a challenge to read them and understand...

I am sorry that you are feeling sick again. It is tough when it seems like the only way to find out if something will make you sick is to have it make you sick. I hope that you recover quickly. I also hope that you make good progress at figuring out what is bothering you. I hope that keeping the food diary helps.

ARCHIVED Science To Research On Soy With Eggs And Chickendilettantesteph replied to John Burlingame's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut Oh, good. Sorry I didn't notice. In case anyone is interested, there are eggs available from soy free chickens. Just soy free eggs online. I have no idea if it is really an issue.

ARCHIVED Science To Research On Soy With Eggs And Chickendilettantesteph replied to John Burlingame's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut The OP has a soy reaction. I think that's why he posted in the "Other Food Intolerances" section.

ARCHIVED Eye Problems?dilettantesteph replied to Strawberry-Jam's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I got diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome recently. The reason I went to the eye doctor was that I had blurred vision and I was afraid that I was losing my eyesight. She said that we tear up more with dry eyes and that was what caused the blurring. At that time I was suffering from a relatively long term accidental gluten ingestion period. Later, when I...

ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...dilettantesteph replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I didn't edit that out to try to hide something. I edited it out to try to make my meaning more clear. Please don't make accusations.

ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...dilettantesteph replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease The comments from Irishheart make realize that I need to work harder to be more clear. I gave the references to those studies because I thought the OP might want to read them because they are relevant to her question to me asking if I cut grains from my diet to heal.

ARCHIVED Being Glutened By Supplements?dilettantesteph replied to Rhobhan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease That comments makes it look like I need to make myself more clear. I think that the doctor thought of supplements as the problem because of the study. I don't think that is necessarily the actual problem. I think that the advice that Kareng gave about looking for gluten elsewhere as well is a good idea.

ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...dilettantesteph replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease A study showing that grains can be contaminated: Open Original Shared Link A study showing celiacs continuing to experience symptoms when they were on a special diet: Open Original Shared Link They do allow rice. "All cereal grains aside from rice are prohibited."

ARCHIVED Being Glutened By Supplements?dilettantesteph replied to Rhobhan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I think that the doctor assumed that it was the supplements because a study has come out recently about contamination of supplements: Open Original Shared Link I don't know if that means that the most likely source in your diet would be the supplements. It would a good idea to also look elsewhere as Kareng suggested. Also try to look for a pattern with...

ARCHIVED Relapse Of Symptomsdilettantesteph replied to cdmama's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs A special diet was developed for celiacs with ongoing symptoms that you could discuss with your doctors. You can find it here: Open Original Shared Link It can apply to children and you can read the story of a 9 year old girl who went on this diet here: Open Original Shared Link I wish that we could get an updated story. I hope that you child feels...

ARCHIVED New Here And Need Help With School Policydilettantesteph replied to HappyPlace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs StephanieL, let me apologize to you again. I had my daughter read the thread and she explained how it sounded. You know how something that you have in your head can sound different when it is written down? I thought that the OP could approach the school better if she had a good understanding of the reasons for the policy. I know very well that some children...

ARCHIVED How Did You Heal Your Gut? Besides Giving Up Gluten...dilettantesteph replied to icelandgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Yes, I did do this. It was my personal experience that it helped me heal. Other things also helped. It helped me to keep a food/symptom journal so that I could track where my reactions came from and elmininate those things as well.

ARCHIVED New Here And Need Help With School Policydilettantesteph replied to HappyPlace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I am very sorry if I caused you any pain. I honestly was looking for some evidence for food from a nut free facility being necessary for even being the presence of a child with a nut allergy. I guess I am little bothered by this stuff because my son's school won't allow latex balloons in the school at all due to a latex allergy. At the same time, they...

ARCHIVED New Here And Need Help With School Policydilettantesteph replied to HappyPlace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I would have to ask for evidence, but perhaps that should be done in a different thread.

ARCHIVED New Here And Need Help With School Policydilettantesteph replied to HappyPlace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs I don't know where you get these ideas Gemini.

ARCHIVED New Here And Need Help With School Policydilettantesteph replied to HappyPlace's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Exactly, and it is because of moderators response to thit that I have reread the board rules and I am very careful to provide evidence for what I say, or to state it as experience or opinion.
