  1. Hi! I have been feeling well. You've been helping me out a lot on another forum, and was curious to know more about you. Thanks for all your help!

  2. Thank you! I was reading one of your posts and noticed your signature. Very impressive! :)

  3. I am very sensitive so I buy my grains whole and sort and wash them. I have come across gluten grains as well as corn in my sorghum. I contacted the supplier and they used shared harvesting equipment. They said that they spend two days taking the harvester apart and cleaning it, and they use the first bit for animal feed. I guess they still managed to...
  4. Some gluten free companies use gluten free oats in their products. About 10% of celiacs react to oats as gluten. That might be a problem with Bob's. I don't think it is with Namaste. Some celiacs just do better without processed foods. Some of us are sensitive to lower levels of cc than others.
  5. That happens to me too. I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this...keep a food/symptoms journal to figure out what is doing it to you.
  6. Sunflowers can be harvested with the same equipment used to harvest wheat: http://www.sunflowernsa.com/growers/harvesting-storage/ It could be cc from that if you are very sensitive.
  7. This is interesting to read. The FDA did a study of research on how much gluten is safe for a celiac. They came up with a very low number. http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Food/ScienceResearch/ResearchAreas/RiskAssessmentSafetyAssessment/UCM264152.pdf

  8. So much for my gluten free household. I still have my old pointe shoes. Thanks for the information.
  9. As you can see from my picture, my gender is female, not male. Someone has a strange sense of humor and the ability to change peoples profiles.

Your gender setting automatically sets as male unless otherwise selected. No tampering here...

I thought it automatically sets to "not telling". That's what it used to say. That's what other peoples say. That's what I was unable to change it back to.

  10. You would certainly have to make a lot of changes to pin point the source of your gluten reactions. We had to go on very simple diets for a couple of weeks to get to a baseline healthy state. Then we carefully added new items only one per week watching for gluten reactions to get to a decently varied diet. It took a long time. We still add new foods...
  11. My daughter was recently diagnosed and had the same problem. What she did is eat a bunch of something that we knew was cc'ed and then monitored her health. She came up with what she thought were tell tale signs of glutening. Mainly her belly gets huge. She also gets really unpleasant and grumpy but that is hard to self diagnose. Now when her belly is...
  12. If you think something is bothering you, but it's only a little bit and you can't tell for sure, try eating a bigger serving. Eat 4 times the normal amount. Then you will know.

  13. Once you have come up with a safe diet, keep a food journal of what you eat and how you feel. Only add one new thing a week. It can take awhile to know if you have symptoms.

  14. For meat, get it cut up at the meat processor, not recut at the store where it is more likely to get cc due to the variety of things cut in the same place.

  15. With seafood, have them put on fresh gloves and get it directly from the box that came from the supplier. Once it has been set out, who knows what has touched it.

  16. With your meat, avoid chicken. The way they are processed the feces tend to contaminate. Cooking to 165 degrees as recommended will kill salmonella, but it won't get rid of trace gluten.

  17. The Super Sensitive Diet.

    Do this for two weeks.

Have only produce and meat. Check toiletries soap etc. carefully for gluten content and be careful to consume as little as possible.

With the produce, avoid anything you can't peel. Wash and peel everything carefully. Try to avoid coated produce. Farmer's markets are good for this. Try to avoid things grown...

  18. We have had problems with salt. I think that only the most sensitive of super sensitives have to worry about it. It ended up that they were using a gluten containing soap to clean out their lines. They have since switched brands. To find out you can stop eating the salt for a few days and then eat it again. If the reaction was tiny, then eat more than...
  19. I did an online search and those tests aren't terribly accurate, but don't take my word for it, do your own. Elimination diets are supposed to work better to determine food sensitivities. My son tested negative for everything, yet when he eats walnuts his tongue swells up. His doctor even told us that the tests weren't accurate.
  20. I do get the hypersensitive senses. It took me quite awhile to notice that it came from gluten.
  21. I'm a SUPER SENSITIVE CELIAC If you think you might be too, try a google search for more resources.

  22. Me too. Sorry. Hope you feel better soon.
  23. I don't have very much in the way of other intolerances. I have discovered one to Kumquat skin though. Glutening leads to a big range of symptoms GI as well as neuro. With the Kumquat skin I just get the GI issues. It did confuse me for a little while though. I find that glutening from smaller amounts affects me differently than larger amounts of gluten...
  24. Actually, being a scientist, I have always been interested in those clinical trials. I also live near a medical center. I always check them out, but I hardly ever find one that I am qualified for. I don't only look at the celiac ones either. They are often quite specific in their requirements Right now my daughter and I are doing one about relationships...
  25. I have felt that way many times. It's not a good feeling.
