  1. I have had this effect. I thought that it was from a decrease in cc from gluten-free grains, but it could have been a problem with carbs. Since that time I discovered EPI and digestive enzymes and I'm reconsidering.
  2. I was thinking about it myself. How was it? Which one did you try? Did you find it locally?
  3. Talk about a fast response! Interesting about how the quotes show our local time zone while the posts show California's time zone.
  4. When I was looking at wines yesterday I noticed some stating that they were unoaked. I also heard someone asking about a wine and being asked if she preferred unoaked. Is that a gluten thing referencing the use of barrels?
  5. I think that the BRM problems come from people with an additional oat sensitivity. Last I heard they process their gluten free oats in their gluten-free facility. When I called, they told me that they clean well between runs but there is that slight cc possibility in case of an extreme oat sensitivity.
  6. You may want to consider a diet like this one: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-230X/13/40 There can be wait times around 3 months where I live in the US to see a GI. Last time my son got in quickly only to find that the doctor knew very little about celiac disease. He didn't think that it could cause reflux because that wasn't listed as a symptom...
  7. With those travel coolers, you can get an adapter to plug it in a normal recepticle. You can carry it into your place of work or hotel room and plug it in. It will get better with experience. It's just a matter of figuring out how to make it work.
  8. This has happened to me. They told me that protocol has recently changed requiring ultrasounds for certain things. They say that it's because I have dense tissue. They give me ultrasounds every 6 months but haven't had to do anything else. They haven't said anything about cancer or biopsies. One good thing is that ultrasounds do not require that uncomfortable...
  9. I think that happens to me too. I hope you get over it soon. I'm usually worse in the morning and then not so great in the evening. The middle of the day is best.
  10. I do well with grinding my own beans. A lot of people prefer that anyway since it is ground fresh that way. All it takes is a push of the button. Open Original Shared Link
  11. I use travel coolers too, though I have a coleman 40 qt. For shorter trips I use a regular cooler with a frozen gallon jug of water. I also have a portable microwave. You'll do fine once you learn the ropes.
  12. Is it possible that it is a low level gluten reaction? If not, then my experience probably does not apply to you. My ideas of why it is a problem for me come from sources like this one: Open Original Shared Link
  13. Yes, I got a coffee grinder.
  14. Sorry, I don't know of one. We thought we had issues with the one that we tried (on an orthodontic retainer). It was my son and he's very sensitive.
  15. I seem to be intolerant to coffee, but not when I buy whole bean coffee. I seem to be intolerant to factory eggs but not to eggs from pasture raised hens who get little or no supplemental feed. I hope you feel better soon.
  16. I agree with others about the digestive enzymes. I had diarrhea with high fat meals which resolved with the enzymes. Tricia Thompson did a report on gluten contamination of spices: Open Original Shared Link I couldn't get it to load, but maybe you can and maybe it'll be helpful. I remember coming on here after reacting to things and trying to figure...
  17. That's one of my glutening symptoms. I also have no energy to do anything but lie on the couch in front of the TV. I fall asleep and wake up on the couch with the TV still on in the middle of the night. Then the insomnia hits. It goes away after I remove that gluten source. I hope you feel better soon.
  18. Here is a study that you can show your GI: http://www.biomedcentral.com/1471-230X/13/40 "Here we describe the effects of a 3-6 month diet of whole, unprocessed foods, termed the Gluten Contamination Elimination Diet (GCED), on NRCD. We aim to demonstrate that this diet reclassifies the majority of patients thought to have RCD type 1 (RCD1)." ...
  19. I think that pot may just complicate your recovery. Plus, depending on where you live, there is that legality issue. I also get anxious when glutened. It's a pain. I hope you feel better soon.
  20. Here is what University of Maryland medical center says: "Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid (building block of protein) in the body. The body can make enough glutamine for its regular needs, but extreme stress (the kind you would experience after very heavy exercise or an injury), your body may need more glutamine than it can make." "2 clinical...
  21. You guys said it so well. When it comes to supplements to help with healing, we can't tell if they helped or if we would have healed anyway. That is why I was looking for a research study. The way to tell if something works is to have a study which gives the supplement to some people and not others and compare the healing process. These studies cost a...
  22. Thank you for your help. I did plan to discuss it with my doctor. Generally, when I present ideas to my doctor, I provide photocopies of published research showing that it works, or a print out of advice from a celiac center or something like that. I have seen this mentioned so many times on this forum, I thought it would be easy to find something, but...
  23. All I can find are studies showing benefits to people who are receiving all their feeding intravenoisly in other words, in parenteral nutrition formulas. Could you please provide some more details or links for it's benefit when used to supplement a normal diet? I am interesting in learning more about the benefits of this supplement. Thank you.
  24. I have heard L-glutamine suggested for healing. The University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center does not recommend it: Open Original Shared Link " What do you think of using L Glutamine to help heal? We do not recommend this product because no benefits from it have been documented in rigorous, evidence-based research." What are people's experiences...
  25. Irishheart seems to be saying, in the super sensitive section, without any reference to evidence, that it is not true that some celiacs are sensitive to lower levels of gluten than others. She says that it is just that some celiacs are more paranoid than others. I was trying to show some of the science that says otherwise. There are amounts of gluten to...
