  1. Talk about a straw man argument! Open Original Shared Link I never suggested that anyone rectally challenge themselves with anything! The links were given as published peer reviewed scientific evidence for gluten contamination of gluten free grains including corn being a problem for some celiacs.
  2. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I did not say that the corn crop is always contaminated with gluten. It does look like it can be contaminated with gluten. I think that was why I had problems with some corn containing products while I did not have problems with corn on the cob...
  3. This is the study on which the 20 ppm limit is based: Open Original Shared Link as far as I know. Note that one participant had a full relapse on the lower amount tested. Also, none of the participants given the higher amount tested had a relapse. The amounts tolerated vary.
  4. I saw "I make all my own food", but not "from scratch". That could be significant.
  5. What do you eat? Some have resolved symptoms by eliminating processed foods: Open Original Shared Link
  6. It is a terrible thing that so many of us get so sick before we get diagnosed. It takes awhile to learn the diet and it takes awhile to heal. Some of that anxiousness might go away gluten free. Try to be patient. This will take time. I was very sick and it took me a long time and effort to get better. It was well worth it.
  7. I thought that I had corn sensitivity at one point. Then I noticed that I could eat corn on the cob without issues and it was stuff like chips that bothered me. I concluded that it was gluten contamination of corn crops that bothered me rather than corn itself. That might be worth checking out before eliminating it entirely. I hope that you get things...
  8. What does this mean? Copied from Irishheart's post: "Source: Open Original Shared Link According to Dr. Alessio Fasano, Medical Director of the Center for Celiac Research, University of Maryland, “If you have celiac disease, then the application of gluten containing products to the skin should not be a problem, unless you have skin lesions that a...
  9. Lots of people have problems with continuing symptoms on the gluten free diet. Just search this forum. Some are still eating gluten by accident. Some are sensitive to cross contamination. Some have bacterial overgrowth, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, and a long list of other things. Look carefully at your diet and I hope that your doctor can help...
  10. You haven't complely failed. It's a temporary set back. You did it before. You can do it again. If you are like me, that depression comes along with the gluten reaction. It will go away as you recover. I also seemed much more sensitive over time. I eat very few processed foods and don't go to restaurants. It works. I got sick a lot before I figured...
  11. I am super sensitive to gluten and oats. It is really hard to tell what is making you sick, especially when it happens often, like has been a problem for me. I figured, why add another possibility? It just confuses things further. By now I'm well much of the time, but I got used to the grey.
  12. With all those supplements, something is likely to contain contamination, in my opinion. Look at this study of supplements and purity. Open Original Shared Link I agree with cycling lady to cut the supplements. Also, I would look carefully into naturopathy and consider whether or not I want to trust my daughter's health to a naturopath. So many GI...
  13. The oats would not be another food sensitivity so much as another autoimmune reaction initiator. Open Original Shared Link That reference gives a range from 0.5 to 20% of celiacs who have this problem with oats. Udi's have granola products without oats, why don't you try one of those and see what happens? I hope that you can figure it out without...
  14. It is possible that mushrooms were the reason that your 9 week super clean eating period didn't work. Many celiacs eat mushrooms without problems, but some more sensitive ones think the cross contamination of the growing medium causes them symptoms. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/104055-mushrooms/ Open Original Shared Link I would have to say that...
  15. I am sorry. That sounds rough. Some celiacs at least initially do better avoiding processed foods.: Open Original Shared Link It sounds like you are doing that except for your pasta. If you ate only meat veg and rice for 5 weeks, that should have made a difference. Did that include processed foods? There may have been cross contaminaiton in them...
  16. Your allergist may not have given you the right tests. You should see a GI doctor. Did the tests indicate gluten contamination? Did they show gliadin antibodies? My son and I are both very sensitive and need a gluten-free household as well as a very careful diet. Perhaps you should hurry up and get your kids tested so that you can make the change. Nonetheless...
  17. That's the big problem. Additionally, some are more sensitive than others. When someone says how safe something is for them, it might not be for you. The unknowns make it really easy develop misunderstandings. It will take some time, but you will get there. Remember to reassess your understanding as time goes on. After you have healed you may find that...
  18. Good question. I made the mistake of thinking that fat malabsorption was gluten. In my case gluten caused the fat malabsorption, and eliminating the fat made it go away, but that did not eliminate the gluten. After more time with the gluten contamination in my diet some other symptoms reared their ugly heads. I'm not sure how to distinguish unless you...
  19. Soy can be contaminated with gluten. Open Original Shared Link That doesn't mean that all soy is contaminated or that celiacs shouldn't eat soy. There is still a lot of unknowns with celiac disease and a lot of speculation online and in the offices of various health professionals. You need to look carefully at the source of your information. You need...
  20. My son had a bad reaction to the endoscopy and recovered before I started freaking out, but I don't remember details anymore. I'm guessing he was better within a week or so. I hope you get better soon, and if you don't, go back to the doctor.
  21. I'm sorry. It has happened to me. I stopped going to restaurants. It could be something besides gluten like food poisoning. It's a good idea to check that out. I found digestive enzymes to help during times like that.
  22. Maybe she was having serious problems with the other kids and she was telling the school official what she thought she needed to get something done about it. I would talk to her to figure out what's going on.
  23. I am sorry that you are going through this. My son went through this his junior year of high school. When he's glutened he fails exams; not glutened he's at the top of the class. We were not able to get an agreement from the school that we were happy with, but he had been sick a lot. I think that you would need to go to the principal with a doctor's...
  24. You may be eating gluten accidentally. An experienced celiac dietician could help you with that. It's a good idea to check your numbers as Kareng said. If those two things are ruled out then you can consider that a small fraction of celiacs react to lower levels of gluten and were found to do better on a special diet as in this study: Open Original Shared...
  25. Some parts of your story were familiar. Other parts were not. I'm sorry. Give yourself some time to learn the details of the gluten-free diet. I hope you figure out the additional complications. I hope your present doctors are good ones.
