  1. Thanks for posting this and all the links. Does anyone have comments on comparison of prescription and over the counter enzymes?
  2. I've been thinking about it too. I'm thinking that Japanes quail might work better for my situtation. There is a backyard chickens forum which has alot of information.
  3. Look into pancreatic insufficiency. Exocrine Pancreatic Insuffiency Open Original Shared Link "Nonpancreatic causes of EPI include the following: Celiac disease (secondary to decreased pancreatic stimulation): This leads to EPI in about one third of patients and may be an unrecognized cause of treatment failure. " The symptoms seem much the...
  4. It sounds terrible and I'm sorry. I still think that forgiveness is a good thing, not for the other person, but for you. That is perhaps a discussion for another board. I wouldn't take her back into your life though. Having her out of your life sounds mandatory for your health.
  5. At least you figured it out and you are doing better now. I would try to forgive her. I'm sure that she didn't realize the impact that it was having on you. It is hard to understand.
  6. I think that cross contamination could easily be responsible for your recent health problems. There are many things that you can try before moving out. Examine where you may be getting contaminated and think about ways to avoid it. It is hard to expect others to always be careful. It is hard enough for us to learn how to do, and we are the ones who pay...
  7. Thanks for posting. It is encouraging.
  8. Exam gloves are not powdered with wheat. They are powdered with corn or calcium carbonate: Open Original Shared Link Calcium carbonate is not sourced from wheat: Open Original Shared Link There are certified gluten free corn starch brands available for those concerned about cross contamination. Corn itself is gluten free and safe for celiacs. Here is...
  9. Hi Mimsy, Welcome to the forum. I am also very sensitive and seem to react to things which some other celiacs say I couldn't possibly react to. This made my initial recovery very difficult while I sorted this all out. In this forum, they seem to like to make sure that the vast majority of celiacs who don't have problems like these are not alarmed by statements...
  10. It really doesn't help when you read stories about celebraties who go gluten free to lose weight!
  11. Did you click through enought to see that he has the nerve to charge $1000 to become a certified practioner? He's probably trying to make more money off that nonsense filled e-summit he just had.
  12. My reactions seem to be different depending of the amount of contamination I ingest. With smaller amounts, it takes longer and the reactions are less severe.
  13. Again, I'm being snoopy, but why is that? Do you have some previously unknown medical condition that doesn't let you eliminate it? Does it also make you not eliminate other metals? Please don't think I'm doubting or accusing you of imagined illness. I'm curious only. Is it some condition thought to be similar to Wilson's disease? Did you respond to...
  14. My I ask how you were exposed to high levels of copper? I'm an inorganic chemist and have worked with all sorts of metals in the lab, so that's why I ask. Seeking2012: You can find published papers of individuals by searching Google Scholar or a similar search engine. Not everything is on PubMed.
  15. Your story sounds familiar. It can be hard at first. It should get better. Try to take things one step at a time. That makes it a bit easier.
  16. That isn't a valid explanation, in my opinion, GFinDC because you could just counter with "it only affects those who have the propensity to develop the disease." The best reason is that there is no evidence. There are many things that we have increased exposure to that could be a contributing factor with celiac disease. What has increased in recent years...
  17. What wikipedia says about quackwatch: Open Original Shared Link The guy who founded it: Open Original Shared Link It's all good.
  18. To the OP, clearly you are someone who wants to think for yourself rather than listen to someone else say that something is nonsense without backing it up. The problelm with internet research is that the information is not vetted and you don't necessarily easily come across both sides. Let me suggest some reading of the other side so that you will have...
  19. Peter, he may have read about the same Tricia Thompson study several times. When I googled it, I came up with several mentions of the 3000 ppm number. The actual number reported in the study was slightly lower than that, 2925 ppm. Open Original Shared Link This was not a gluten-free labelled product.
  20. I think that you need to keep doing your experiments. In all seriousness, I think that if you are someone who has problems with contamination from products made in shared facilities, you may have problems with alcohol made from gluten grains. I don't see a way that they could be made in a facility that doesn't have gluten grains present. I believe...
  21. I looked at those links and there didn't seem to be any MDs involved. That makes me supicious about validity. Quote fron Ninja: "Dr. Ben Lynch has some good information on MTHFR (his website: Open Original Shared Link) Also, Dr. Amy Yasko has some really good information on methylation in general (her website: Open Original Shared Link)."
  22. Good luck. Some schools are better than others. You must read things about it being a fad. When it is people who deal with our children who have that opinion, it can be very difficult. It is amazing to me that school administrators can believe that they know more about your child's health than your child's own doctors.
  23. I think that these are questions that you should be asking your doctors. If you aren't getting the care that you need, you need to find another doctor. I wish you good health.
