  1. I would agree that baking with regular flour is likely to make even typical celiac sick. Did you use regular flour? If this is something that you often do, maybe you caused more flour to become airborne this time. I think that the other things that you mention would require a significantly higher level of sensitivity.
  2. To be fair, he did say that some people need a gluten free diet for medical reasons. He was making fun of people who eliminate it for fad reasons who don't even know what it is. These are the same people who make restaurant staff not take us seriously because they order gluten free for their meal and then have a gluten containing dessert. Those people...
  3. I think that kissing your husband after drinking beer is possible. To extrapolate that to getting glutened from having it in the house is a stretch. The gluten of even regular beer isn't all that high. Open Original Shared Link
  4. I am sorry for offering suggestions that you think are not possible. I have many years of experience with this condition and apparant cc where I didn't think it was possible. For your information, a negative blood test does not prove absolutely that there is no cc. Some celiacs have a negative blood test while on a full gluten diet. Open Original Shared...
  5. In other words, the item can be processed in a shared facility even if the statement is not there. You would need to look online or contact the company to find out for sure. I really was not trying to say that you are stupid. The thing about cross contamination is that some celiacs react to lower levels of cross contamination than others. Here is a study...
  6. I'm pretty sure that you can pilot gliders even younger. My brothers did that. This says you can solo at age 14: Open Original Shared Link
  7. I work very hard at solving this issue in a non confrontational way. This is your child's father and she will need his support with the medical condition and diet throughout her childhood. It will probably take all the patience that you can muster. The consequence for not doing this may be him accidentally making her sick every time he sees her. I...
  8. It does look like elevated ttg can mean other things besides gluten in the diet: Open Original Shared Link Do any of those things apply?
  9. Are gluten containing products processed in the facility where the coconut flour and almond flour are processed?
  10. I'm sorry. You say the ttG are up, so I'm guessing that means that he is getting some gluten cross contamination. While you haven't changed anything, it is possible that one of your food manufacturers has changed something. I remember that happened to me one time. My quinoa supplier added a wheat berry product that was packaged in the same facility as...
  11. I use Country Life zyme-aid and they seem to be working. I can eat high fat things without diarrhea that give me diarrhea without the enzymes. They contain enzymes that digest fat as well as a bunch of other stuff. I chose that brand because it is certified gluten-free.
  12. I'm sorry for assuming cc. It is generally the most likely. We aren't trying to say that you aren't careful. Some of us have a deficiency in digestive enzymes. Have a look at this: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/105648-exocrine-pancreatic-insufficiency/?hl=%2Bpancreatic+%2Binsufficiency That might be it.
  13. I don't think that this is a sure indication that you are going to be super sensitive. Then again, I'm not sure what you mean by super sensitive. If you mean not being able eat processed foods, I would say that is jumping to conclusions. I agree with Marilyn R that you could have accidentally ingested quite a bit with your actions. You could still be...
  14. While it may be impossible for gluten to get distilled, it is not impossible for gluten in the facility to contaminated the distillate. The fact that many producers list allergens in a facility on the label would indicate that it can be a problem. It is very hard to be certain where a reaction originates.
  15. I agree that there is a difference with feeling symptoms. I think there is a difference in how our autoimmune reactions occur. I agree with the build up of small amounts of cc. I've felt that too. There also seems to be a stress/anxiety component. There is so much to be figured out still.
  16. Since you still have flattened villi, I think that you need an even more strict gluten-free diet. Have you seen this study?: Open Original Shared Link That's what I have to do, plus a little more strict.
  17. It will get better. A lot of us have faced this. It can take awhile to learn enough about being gluten free. It can take awhile to heal. You could use a doctor who will be more helpful. Don't lose hope. As some others mentioned, are you living with your family? Are they eating gluten? Could you be getting gluten contamination from them? That...
  18. I remember my daughter couldn't race one day when she was on the cross country team at school. When she tried to explain it to the coach he asked her why she had eaten gluten. As if she would make herself sick on purpose! Sometime it happens despite every precaution. We are continually learning how to manage this condition. You can try explaining again...
  19. It is known that there are different genes responsible for this condition. Open Original Shared Link One thing that genes do is give the sequence for amino acids that make up proteins. Open Original Shared Link Some of these proteins act as catalysts for the reactions that our bodies need. Some of these make up the receptors that react with gluten which...
  20. Me neither until recently. I wish that I had known long ago.
  21. I had that problem and noticed that it was worsened by high fat and protein. Digestive enzymes cleared it right up. The doctor thinks it was pancreatic insufficiency. That is common with celiacs. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/105648-exocrine-pancreatic-insufficiency/?hl=%2Bpancreatic+%2Binsufficiency
  22. My son gets lip swelling sometimes that seems to coincide with accidental gluten consumption. They kept us overnight in the ER for it one time. He didn't respond to their treatment, but it didn't get any worse so they finally let us go. It went down slowly after that. He was tested for hereditary angioedema, Open Original Shared Link, since my father...
  23. I did have further problems, but I managed them and life is good. Don't worry so much. When things go wrong, people need to vent about it. When things go right, people get on with their lives and don't write long blog posts about that. If something comes up, you will figure out. There are lots of researchers out there figuring stuff out. This gets easier...
  24. That makes me mad because it makes people not take seriously those of us who get very sick from gluten contamination. It is easy to see how someone might think that a little bit won't hurt when some idiot like that person is demonstating that "fact" before their very eyes. It's their business, but: Grrr!!
