  1. A picnic in an isolated place where a murder occurred, with a guy carrying a handgun sounds like something I'd run away from. Maybe a park with other people around would be more comfortable until you know her better. Good luck.
  2. It further complicated by a lack of accurate testing: Open Original Shared Link "The results demonstrate that current gluten analysis methods cannot accurately quantify prolamines in all food matrices and further work is needed to improve the reliability of gluten quantification."
  3. I was almost off my pills, only needing one per day to control symptoms rather than the 6 I started with. Then I got glutened again and had to up them. I'm back down to one and I hope to be able to get off that one too. I'm thinking it takes about a month.
  4. The mind wandering is amazing. It takes 10 times as long to accomplish anything and I can't really figure out why. I have no answers either. Getting glutened occasionally is so much better than living like that 24/7 the years before diagnosis.
  5. Good for you. I've read the studies. I'm glad that you found the right answer for you.
  6. When I get glutened I seem to lose the ability to produce lactase for a couple of weeks. I also seem to lose the ability to digest fat. With cheese, which is lower in lactose than milk, it might be the fat getting you rather than lactose. These things are temporary as long as I fix my diet.
  7. When your doctor says nothing PROCESSED, is he including all those supplements he has you on? Contamination can be a problem with supplements: Open Original Shared Link
  8. The kind I take said 2 per meal. I did that as I healed and then weaned myself off them. I got down to pill per day when I glutened myself and had to go back up to 2 per day, one each with my higher fat meals. I hope to get down to done if I can manage not to gluten myself again.
  9. That Natropath may have suggested something that contains gluten contamination. I suggest a whole foods diet. Good luck.
  10. Some information about gluten in prescription medications: Open Original Shared Link
  11. I find it can take a month or more. Digestive enzymes help me, and it took me 6 years to give them a try.
  12. We don't have any. Trader Joe's?
  13. Thanks, I've been looking for them for a few months and they haven't had them yet locally.
  14. I have some information about vitamin D levels. It seems that there were some very high levels of vitamin D being recommended. Then the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies were asked to study the matter by the US and Candian governements. They came up with lower recommendations. Many labs and doctors are still using the very high levels. Also...
  15. I got down to 104 # and I'm 5'5". Digestive enzymes helped. I think fat malabsorption was part of the problem. I gained 10 lbs and I'm feeling better. Now I am eating cheese and macadamia nuts without having to run to the toilet. I also made a change to my diet which I think reduced gluten contamination.
  16. Is it possible that he just meant that you look healthy? Couldn't that be taken as a complement? I don't think that Walmart pays their employees enough to monitor what they say.
  17. I just heard this podcast: Open Original Shared Link He talks about building perches for hawks to control rodents and said that it work very well. I'm thinking about looking into that myself. If you try, let me know if it works.
  18. What time of year do we get Hawaiian pineapples on the mainland?
  19. Thanks for the update. It is consistent with my experience.
  20. If I am having problems with glutenings of unknown source, I try to cut out all the possibilities I can, especially the easier ones. It seems pretty easy to me to cut up pineapple yourself. The more possibilities you eliminate, the easier it is to figure out what is causing a problem. Sometimes it just takes time to heal and how you feel each day has ups...
  21. I found that I got symptoms with tomatoes from the store, but not when I grew them myself. I don't know why. It could be variety, though I grow several different ones. It could be something used in farming. It could have been some other coincidental cause. I keep growing them and can a bunch of sauce to last me through the off season. I haven't tried...
  22. The full paper is available for free, and reading it will give you a better idea of what they mean.
  23. I mean research to support whatever point I am trying to get across. The exact research study I use will depend on what point I am trying to make. For example if I want to make the point that some celiacs may have problems with the typical gluten free diet, I would offer this study: Open Original Shared Link Studies of what amounts of gluten bothering...
  24. It has been shown by testing: From the Journal of Gastrointestinal and LIver Diseases: "Patients with consistent GFD adherence experience a SRDG faster and more severe in comparison to prior gluten exposure possibly demonstrating an adept immunological response." Open Original Shared Link
